A lot of announcers need to read this especially the cheerleader part. I'm not a fan of homer announcers. I think you can sometimes have some excitement in your voice though. One of best announcers who did St. X/Trinity games was John Tong who also did UofL basketball games.

Doubt I will go to the Male game and the main reason is I don't feel like listening to that guy over there anymore.

  2. I saw this yesterday on Yappi:

"Frederick Douglass, as an example, graduated 28 seniors, so despite giving up only 38 points all last season and still having an impressive list of kids with D1 offers, they aren't the same team. When I saw an interview with their coach a few weeks back, and he said they had 10 new starters on D and also were going to play a lot of kids both ways....."

If this is true, things look good for the Rocks. Especially if they are playing guys both ways. Gonna be tough to do that Friday in the heat.

  3. Received an email from Trinity today announcing the partnership with WDRB. It stated that if you have the WDRB Now app you must update it to the new WDRB+ app. I have an iPhone and when I looked my Now app had updated automatically. Now on my Apple TV I had to manually update there.  The new app is available on all the streaming devices. Thought you all might want to know early before finding out right before kickoff if you are streaming.

Not disagreeing but why will Trinity be better next year than they were this year?  Just more experience?  Were many starters underclassmen?

I have no idea of where Trinity will fall into the fold. Last year the Rocks were decimated by injuries I do believe. Arguably the best player on the team only played the first half of the first game. No excuses though. Cobb will have to come up with more than 1 offensive play this year.. Yes the vast majority of starters were underclassmen.

I have complained a lot about the NFHS over the years and have mentioned having several hands in the cookie jar makes it tough to hold anyone accountable for the shortcomings but generally speaking when there is an issue it is usually because the host school doesn't have their act together.

I have complained a lot also. You are probably correct about the host schools. In the past, I have watched St X on NFHS as the host school before they moved to YouTube. They had announcers, the score, down and distance, and clock worked fine. No worries.

Every time Trinity is the host to a NFHS game it is just awful. All you get is a bad video feed with no commentary, no score etc etc. It seems like they just mounted a camera to the stadium and that is it. Any Rock insiders know why they won't put forth more effort to make the broadcasts more watchable? Is it a money thing? Do they just want you to listen to it on the radio? RockNation?

I am grateful that the games have been on at all and hate to rag on my Rocks, but I expect more than I have been getting with the Trinity games.

Go to   FloFootball.com    and sign up for a monthly account and for 19.99 you can stream the game tonight. It starts at 7:00. Go Rocks!!!!

I saw that too and did a little research. Many negative reviews for that site. BBB rating is F. BBB user reviews average 1.1 out of 5. I’m going to pass. Might be legit but I’m not going to take the chance. Good luck. 🤙

Saw this game last season. Trinity was impressive early but Carmel turned it on after the first quarter. Trinity is a year older and has much more game experience than last season, which means they should be in it. Does the road trip and what will inevitably be a good Carmel team prove too much for the Rocks?

Maybe. Should be a great game. I'm sure the Rocks are going up there to win. I like the chip on your shoulder underdog role.

    Scrimmage thoughts:

Springfield was definitely not the same team, but their two D1 DBs were very impressive. Trinity did not complete much in the way of long balls, but did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. #74 Brok Sholtes was really impressive at center and can really move. I know he played a fair amount backing up Drew Woodruff and some of the others last year and you can see he has made strides. The team doesn't have a clear cut running back, but they had a few big plays with a Clint Sansbury (Jr) 34-yd TD and some hard running from Stephen Mack (Sr) and Luke Sasser (Jr). Mack, Sasser, and Jeremiah Lynn (Soph) all lined up in the backfield and split out wide. Drew Allen (Sr) took most of the #1 snaps at QB and showed blazing speed running the RPO game. He ripped off a 45-yd TD run in the first quarter and did a decent job for someone who has missed most of the last two years. Jackson Hepner (Jr) came in and completed a screen to Lynn for a 71-yd TD to make it  21-6 in the second quarter.

The Trinity defense looked very impressive. The front 7 were dominant most of the day with many plays being made by LBs Wickliffe (Sr) and Barz (Sr) as well as Toney, Lewis (Sr) and Nate Tronzo (Jr) up front. They were without safety Lincoln Mitchell and LB Brady McEnany as well as sophomore JC Wilson, but all are expected to return to the lineup soon. They played hard for the three allotted quarters and both touchdowns for Springfield were on coverage issues in the secondary.

Special teams were the real star for Trinity on Saturday. Kellan McLaughlin (Sr) hit several kicks deep into the end zone and hit two into the wind all the way to the goal line. Carter Schwartz (Sr) and Carson Hilbert (So) both did a fantastic job with punts and Hilbert added a short field goal for the final points. Brian Davis (DL, Jr) blocked a PAT and the Rocks recovered a bad snap on a punt attempt that led to a touchdown.

I know there are many people worrying about the state of the program and with so many unknows coming into the season with another difficult schedule. While just a scrimmage, it appears Coach Cobb has really put a lot of work into this team in the offseason and the kids showed a real enthusiasm to compete. Returning OL coach Will Heineman comes back to the program after a stint at UPike and his squad really performed Saturday. Keeping Allen (and/or Hepner) upright and establishing the run game will be the keys to the early season with no certified playmakers on offense yet. If the defense returns healthy and can reflect the outstanding coaching they have known for several years now, Trinity will once again be playing into December.

Thanks for the detailed update. I have not been too worried about the Rocks. Given the injuries and inexperience last year, they actually performed better than I thought they would. I believe this year might be a little different. 💪

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, prepares harder than Trinity in the playoffs.

When you think you've done all you can to get ready for the Rocks in a playoff game, they come in on different level. Zero losses or 7, playoffs are a completely separate scenario.

Trinity will roll into Ryle and make noise.

    The beast is unleashed.

    GO GREEN MACHINE

I hear ya Tank! Rocks rolling into Ryle with a chip on their shoulder which does not happen often. I see Trinity making this a statement game.
