"Outdated" huh. LOL Football is so faddish and trendy. I remember a few years back the Wing-T was a cult following, then the spread came around, I guess it will roll back to the bone in time! LOL
-
Last year we had 36 on the roster and 12 of them were seniors. This year we have 28, with five seniors. Our school enrollment is down dramatically, too. I think that number-wise, we compare pretty decently with "A" size schools.
Why is the school enrollment down?

The team Ironton beat is Mount Carmel, not St. Thomas More. Sorry, you do have the wrong team.
-
Have they played any games this year? I wonder how the team from Canada will handle the heat...... Could be interesting.
-
Saunders is a quality coach, his teams will be competitive at least.
-
People, do you honestly think Billy and his wife would quit thier jobs and move to Boyle Co. with the uncertainty of finding a job just so thier son could play football? Get real! LOL I am not putting them down for moving, I think its a good move for him and his family. Lawrence Co. is just not what it was for sports and the reason being is the administration and until that changes, things will stay the same in Louisa.
-
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Johnson Co. I am going to make the trip to J.C. to watch that one!
-
How in the world can you determine who will be the best O-Lineman from a class that has 3 years to graduate?
-
You just gotta love how all these restrictions are placed on football, but basketball can virtually play year round, AAU, leauges, open gyms, etc.
-
I think Bell is hands-down the favorite to win the district. K.C. is probably the #2 team there, I also expect Rock to slip from thier former status, you have down cycles from time to time and I think they are entering one.

He's an excellent player! I am very high on him! I didn't realize that he was only around 6'0?? He sure plays bigger than that! LOL I am a bit concerned about his weight in the SEC. If you are going to be a DT in that leauge, you better be carrying 280-300 LBS.
-
The kid has a SEC offer, so you know he can play...but he is not tall. He's 6'0 at the very best and his frame is about maxed out on poundage. I agree that he is by far the best D-lineman in KY, and a special talent that only comes along in this state every couple of years.
I thought he was bigger than that, I thought he was like 6'3 or 6'4. Well, he certainly plays bigger! If that is the case, they might look at him at LB in the SEC.
-
I watched him destroy Belfry's O-Line, and that was a good unit. He's tall with excellent feet and speed. He also has the ability to pack on some extra weight without it slowing him down. I don't really know where he stands in the order of prospects in the State, but he is clearly the best D-Lineman I have seen.
-
I have no idea who will win, but I will tell you that the Cobble kid from Central is as good as a Defensive Lineman that I have seen come out of this State. He's big, strong, and quick. Does anyone know who is recruiting him? If UK or UofL isn't, they need to be!

People, the BUILDING PRINCIPAL does all hiring in the school. Not the SBDM Council, Not the B.O.E. and not the Superintendent.
-
School Boards hire only the Superintendent. The Superintendent offically hires everyone in the school system, but with that being said, the proceedure for this hiring is as follows, the vacant job is posted for 30 days, A waiver may be granted by KDE and someone can be hired before the deadline of the posting date. The building PRINCIPAL interviews potential canidates for the position and after consultation with his or her SBDM council he or she submits a recomendation to the Superintendent for the position. By law, the Superintendent MUST ACCEPT the recomendation of the School Principal for the position.
-
While the whole BOE did not, the chairman of the PCB committee is the BOE member for SV, and if Waggner didn't sign off on it he wouldn't have done it.
It is true that Mr. Osborne is the chair of the committee and the B.O.E. member from S.V. However, I think its fair to point out that Mr. Osborne was on the Pike Co. Bowl Committee long before he became a B.O.E. member. Why wouldn't Mr. Wagner accept the recommendation of the Pike Co. Bowl Committee? If he didn't accept thier recommendation, what would have prevented the Bowl Committee from having all the games at Pikeville H.S.?
-
^Maybe they're are angry because the Pike Co. Board decided to take the bowl away from a "county" school while an independent school is still hosting a game.
The Pike Co. School Board had no say in who hosted what game or where. The Pike Co. Bowl has a committee of members that decide the event.
-
JD, I cannot argue with any of your numbers, I agree with you 100% about the Belfry program, however, I do not think the moving of the Friday night game has anything to do with them personally. I think that they just wanted to give other parts of the County an opportunity to host the game. I don't think its anything more than that.
-
What happened to Coach Combs?
-
You hit the nail on the head. The best thing that could happen to the Pike BOE is for the state to take them over again like at the end of the Reo Johns era.
I think you will see Belfry host there own bowl in the future if this continues, maybe even with Pikeville, as the rumor is ER will be getting Pikevilles spot if ER's BOE member wins his re-election bid...........
Please guys, you act like someone bulldozed a school over or something. To say that the State needs to take over the Pike Co. school system because of a change in the Pike Co. Bowl format, is silly to say the least. Sounds to me like we have a couple of disgruntled people who haven't gotten thier own agendas through.
-
And add to the fact that ER has had "commitment" to how many coaches through politics................
Well, J.D. I think you will find that politics is in all school systems, in fact, politics is in everything. If you know someone, you have a greater chance of rising in any given profession. With that being said, if you are not "in" you have a lot of these avenues blocked. Just a fact of life. I do want to see E.R. make a solid commitment to whoever gets the job and give them some time to get the job done.
-
And I would say that with his girls basketball teams booster club getting him a condo in Nashville for his 10th anniversary to his wife I would say the committment at FCHS isn't too shabby either.:ylsuper:
Sounds like the committment is a little stronger there.
-
From Thacker?
LOL Lets just say the committment was there from East Ridge.
