This is sad! I happened to play for Coach Yeagle during our dominate run in the 90’s! That man would make a grown man cry with his pregame speeches! You would would want to run through a brick wall for him! He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself! RIP Coach!

Corbin will be playing Pikeville in the 2024 Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic.
Last year's Pigskin Classic was Pikeville vs. Pulaski County and Corbin vs. Hughes (OH). Pulaski County has released their schedule and they are going to be playing Beechwood, who has played in the Pigskin Classic before. Anyone know if the Pulaski County vs. Beechwood game is the other half of the Pigskin Classic?I’m pretty sure it is. But I could wrong.

There have been more than you would think in that range. Mattox Kelly, played OT last year and will be a senior this fall, is about 6'5 or 6'6 but not nearly that heavy. Luke Slusher who went to WKU was around 6'5 280. Brett Eyckmans who went to EKU was about the same size. There have been others right around that size.
If the rumor proves true and my info is accurate, he played at Beechwood and is coming back.
So Beechwood will have 2 linemen about 6’5 this year? I know one year they had 2 or 3 big boys on their line. It was the year they beat Hazard 14-7 in the finals at Cardinal Stadium. They beat Critteden County in the semis.

These 2 games will be fun to watch.

Is that played at University of the Cumberlands or Corbin?
I think it’s at Corbin but I will find out.

McNicholas (OH), who Beechwood beat 31-14 last season, has been replaced with a road game against 5A Pulaski County for the Tigers' season opener.
I would kind of presume that game will be part of a bowl.It is a bowl game. It’s the Cumberland Falls Bowl in Corbin. Pikeville is playing Corbin in the other game.

Wayne Holderman was listed at 6'6" 280lbs. Ended up playing at EKU, I believe. His ability to shut down Harrodsburg's Mr. Football Dennis Johnson in the 96 & 97 state games was one of the reasons the Tigers were able to win back to back.
Harrodsburg’s passing game was horrible! If a team shut down their running game who was just as good or better than them then the Hogs as they called them would lose. Their passing game wasn’t even that good when Craig Yeast played for them.

I’m hearing rumors of an OL/DL having transferred in from a pretty prominent program in Ohio.
I was told he’s in the neighborhood of 6’6 and 260.
Wow he’s a big boy! He would probably be the biggest linemen ever at Beechwood?

Yes ... he sure did.
Oh ok I thought he did.

He was at Lloyd and Turpin before he ended up at Cooper. Fairly sure Lloyd was no more than one year ...Turpin was at least a 2 to 3 years. Then Cooper ... you are correct on the return to Beechwood in 2016.
He coached with Rob Stoll at Turpin am I correct?

Bob lives in the house right next to the driveway at Beechwood. Does he still end up having a pile of pumpkins stacked in his yard by Beechwood students every year on Halloween?
Haha nope I think that ended back in 94 my senior year. We over did it that year!

The Beechwood Authority just reached out to me, she says Coach Burnett retired.
Good for Coach B! That man believed in his players when they didn’t believe in themselves I was one of those players.
Now go enjoy your retirement Coach B!

1A. NCC. Replacing Welch will be tough.
2A. Beechwood coach looking for more money?
3A. Lloyd. Solid.
4A. All CCH in district. Replacing Pitzer, Leen, Rodriguez and Miller is tall ask. Tough row to hoe in playoffs.
5A will be Cooper then Highlands. Highlands must replace some talented seniors.
6A will be Ryle. But playoff road will be littered with better teams than them.
Beechwood coach looking for more money? What is that suppose to mean?

In looking at the 22-23 enrollment reports, here's some potential big changes, depending on what next years enrollment looks like.
OB Catholic is trending as one of the smaller 2a enrollments, so, they could possibly move down.
Middlesboro is one of the largest 1a teams and could possibly move up.
Belfry, as they currently sit, would move from 3a to 2a.
Desales will likely move back to 3a in the next alignment.
CAL is one of the lower enrollment 3a teams and could move back to 2a.
SWarren will likely move up to 6a.
Cov Cath is one of the larger 4a enrollments and could possibly move back to 5a.
Cooper and D Heights are both on the 5a/6a border line.
I hope OC does move down to 1a. Pikeville needs some competition.

Don’t count on that 2nd part. They might be good by Murray standards but they will be irrelevant in the championship discussion.
I don’t know much about them to agree or disagree with you on that one: I’m just stating what some Murray and Mayfield people have told me. Is their new coach a Murray grad?

2a will be just like this year with 4 really good teams plus Somerset could be primed to compete next year after a solid season with a very young team. You know LCA will reload, Atwell returns for OB Cath, so they'll be solid and if Mayfield can get decent QB play, they'll be tough again. I wouldn't crown anyone this early.
Nobody is crowning Beechwood. But if they stay healthy with everyone coming back they will be tough to beat.
I have been hearing a lot about Murray being very good next year.

Enjoy the pleasure this year……..it won’t happen in 2024!
Cooper has a taste and they’ll be back winning 5A.
Beechwood will be in the hunt in 2A and they know what they need to do to make it happen!
Lloyd in 3A knocking on the door.
Ryle wanting to make a statement in 6A.
Cov Cath will make noise in 4A.
Ludlow and New Cath making noise in 1A.
Highlands will be right there as well.

Officiated that one. Also was standing with Assistant Commissioner Larry Boucher when all heck broke out at the end of the game. He said "I think we have a big problem". My reply.."No Larry, you have a big problem".....and I headed to the locker room to prepare for the next game. I have some interesting stories about that situation. The Danville- Bullitt East game was an easy win for Danville. Really good team.
I remember that play like it was yesterday. I was standing right next to Yeagle when he gave the play call.

Today’s celebration at Beechwood for Coach Yeagle just proved how many lives he touched from his former players to his former students to the whole community of Fort Mitchell!
As I said before he believed in his players! He molded guys who weren’t that fast or that big into State Champions! He got the best of you! You would want to run into a brick wall for him! His pre game and halftime speeches are legendary!
Everyone who got to play for this Legendary coach was is very blessed!
