I'm talking 9th region. Brossart and SK might be the best in NKY right now but to be honest if Holmes were at full strength (with Jefferson) against Sk, they wouldn't have beaten them. The same Holmes team beat the same SK team last year by 18...Sk hasn't improved 22 points from last year and the win against Holmes came AT SK in OVERTIME.
Last years game was at Holmes right?? Mike Hester had a terrible game that night, and from what I am hearing Josh Hurd has improved...who's to say that Holmes would be that much improved with Jefferson???Last year they were team turmoil... Rice left the team and Edmonson transferred..so actually Holmes is missing two players Jefferson and Edmonson.... but my point is this they still lost to Dixie last year when it mattered:thumb:

Be careful what you ask for, he might bring you Shagheri Allegne:laugh:

From the list of teams from the Professor lets pair the teams up and see who you think would win more games.
Ballard Vs. Scott County--
JTown Vs. Bryan Station--
Trinity Vs. Tates Creek--
Manual Vs. Madison Central--
LexCatholic Vs. Male--
Eastern Vs. Dunbar--
Who would win these matchups, I know SC has already beaten Ballard but that would be the premier matchup between these teams.
I would love to see all of these matchups, but please substitute Henry Clay for Dunbar:thumb:

Okay 9th Region Fans convince me I am wrong about how bad overall the 9th region is this year!!!
My take:
CovCath: Very average team right now (has potential to improve due to football), lost to St. Henry and Lafayette already, looked horrible against NCC, best game might be the 2 point loss to Cin. St. X. And they might be the creme of region.
Holmes: Lost to Simon Kenton (8th region), recent games are in the 30-50 point range which isn't their game, just haven't beem all that impressive so far but at 7-2 they have to be one of the best teams in the 9th.
Boone Co: Hey at least they win (7-0) so maybe that will carry over to the tougher part of the schedule. I ain't buying yet but maybe they save the year for the 9th?
St. Henry: Had some nice wins at 5-4 but I think they have taken full advantage of the October 15 non-football start and the other teams will catch up to them.
Highlands: Not this year see the lopsided loss to Brossart.
Holy Cross: Maybe a fair All-A team but thats about it.
NewCath: Same thing as Holy Cross.
Dixie: Not impressive thus far.
Conner: Same
Newport: Same
Overall the 9th region teams are 55-63 on the year.
If this isn't the worse overall 9th region performance in a long time tell me why it isn't!!!
I think one thing that is missing out of the equasion is this Simon Kenton going to the 8th currently 8-0 and Bishop Brossart going to the 10th they are also undefeated they would currently be the 1 and 2 teams in this region. While this might not be the reason year after year, it is this year.:thumb:

Big test in front of SK, HC, then possibly Trinity then possibly MC....
Is Blevins still a member of the team? I haven't seen a game this season but from what I've read he hasn't been mentioned.
Hey Neerfan, I think this might be a alltime best start for Sk 8-0 is it???
-
Can anyone who knows list the webcasts if any for the following teams SK,Trinity,Henry Clay, LexCath, Russell, Male ,Doss, St Mary, Appollo, or Holmes or Clark County????
-
Why would a game against Boone County be the "defining point"?
He has done well against competition all over the country, I'd say
getting to play in the Missouri Valley Conference will "define" his talent
There are also several other good players on the Russell Team, Boone County will have their hands full (especially in the third quarter):scared:
Hey I am a Simon Kenton fan, I personally don't know a thing about Russell.
I have seen them play in the Sweet 16 and the 5th 3rd before, and while they might be a dominant team where they play, they look like a deer in headlights when they are on a bigger stage. By defining moment what I actually meant was this will be a huge test for Russell as to how they will play later in the year. I hope they do well and they probably should in this tournament. Lets continue this conversation after the Boone County game.:thumb:

Still know answer for Hester up top, I think Walton should play a zone and hope that SK if off from three point land. I belive there best shooter does not play for them anymore.
I think Hester can light it up from three if they choose to go zone. This would be a huge upset if Walton pulls it off. I like SK by at least 15 here.

I just looked at the 7th and 11th regions recap in Riherds, they are comparible. I will give the edge to to 11th:thumb:
-
Boone County has ran off 6 in a row and a lot of the games were by double digits?? Yet I haven't heard them mentioned in the same breath as Holmes, CovCath and others.
-
I know that Bishop Brossart, CovCath, and Mason County have webcasts. Does anyone know if any of the Lexington and Louisville teams have webcasts??
-
VanHoose had 19 in 3rd Quarter alone. Those doubters as to his D-1 talent are starting to look stupid.
Looks like Russell is heading to a showdown against Boone County. I think this will define VanHoose's talent.

don't be quiet folks.
Rockpride I am now out of the loop this season but I still think the 11th region is equal to if not better than the 7th this year. The 5th 3rd Holiday classic will shed some light Male plays in it this year. I don't have knowledge of the state's top 10 but I suspect you will find Scott County, LexCath and Richmond Madison pretty high up. You asked who was the toughest and I admitted the 7th was tough . I think the season and the tournaments will warrant one of us to say to one another, you know what??you were right:thumb:
-
The "what is the deepest region in the state" debate is down the hall....not here.
Thanks.
No problem here ...my apologies to the author of this thread.:thumb:
-
Come on....
Male, Ballard, Eastern, J-town, Trinity.....
That's nasty.
THe 7th is always tough but I would have to go with the 11th region this season. Scott County and then Lexcath at the top and the best of the rest of the Lexington schools top that region:thumb:

We will have nobody. Carter will never develop into a player and the 2* player coming next season will possibly be another bench warmer. Does Tubby and the staff have a player in reach if Morris leaves after this season?
Honestly ,,what are we going to do??? I don't know but is it possible they could sit out 1 season of the SEC and put the Louisville, Indiana, and North Carolina games on Hold for a while???
I know!! I just got it, they could just play a JV schedule next season and play schools like Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati State and Bellarmine. :sssh:

If the weather stays nice, and the Boss gives the OK, I will be going. Really had a great time last year, meeting a lot of different parents of the players from around the state. Just wish for LexCath sake, that more fans attended, as it would make for better atmosphere, than just a big empty gym.........
I have always found the games to be real exciting here, even in the early stages.
I always liked being able to move around and sit pretty much where I wanted.
However this isn't the case when LexCath plays. I still say where else can you go and see the quality of the games being played there?? I think this tournament is the biggest bang for your buck.
I also wanted someone to yell out at Ron Harrison if they sight him there!!
I encourage anyone who hasn't been here to go check it out. I think it is neat seeing people like Rex Chapman, Mike Fields, Tubby Smith, Rick Pitino, and Travis Ford come and watch all of the homegrown talent
-
Do any of these teams have any webcasts??Apollo, Jonhson central, St. Mary's or June Buchanan??
-
I think it is between Lexinton Catholic and Mason County this year. I must admit I would love for SK to get to play Holmes again, but Sk had a rough road ...Henry Clay then prolly Trinity.
-
CovCath I am sure will broadcast their games.... I will post a link when it becomes avaiable....Keep an eye out for the information at the link below. If enough teams broadcast their games, you just might not miss not being their....:thumb:
Thanks for the info I will definitely check it out:thumb:
-
Not 100% sure if Brossart will cover thier games during this tournament, but if they do you will find thier games broadcast via the internet on http://www.bmustangs.com.
Thanks I will check out their webcast:thumb:

I really miss the out of state teams that used to come and play in this. How does everyone else feel about this turning into Kentucky teams only??

Who wins????
I like SK here just because Dixie has found a way to win some closely contested games the past three years. This game is at the "Joe" I say seniors Hester, Hurd, and Elbert will overcome this years Dixie squad 68-61
Lexington Henry Clay versus Simon Kenton 12-26-2006 5th 3rd
in KY Boys Basketball (High School)

Big game tommorrow at Lexcath I like SK by 5 72-67 what say you???
