Gilliland is a beast of a back. He put in work last night, then Dixie rotated with Suedkamp and Roaden at RB. Kid’s got a great work ethic and unbelievable motor and as he goes, so does the team. They’re jockeying to host a playoff game. Dixie plays Boone County at home next week, followed by a bye, and ends the regular season at home vs. Ryle.
Make that double. Loved that they mixed in more passing this week, getting the ball to their WR1 and spreading it around. The offense was fun to watch tonight. Letting the JV players get some burn was also a nice touch. Kudos to the coaches for making the adjustments and just allowing the kids to ball out.
Dixie has been run-heavy this year, and for good reason because they have a heck of a back in Gilliland. I'll say their QB made some timely throws last week vs. Scott, so I wouldn't dismiss them throwing a few just to keep the defense honest. But I agree with you: run the ball, run the clock.
I think Dixie gets the edge here. I don't know which Cooper they'll get, and Dixie has a bit of momentum. Not to mention they've been pretty good defending the run.
