  1. Saying Trinity is in Louisville is an advantage over Boyle and Frederick Douglas seems to gloss over a few things like St X, Male, Manual, Louisville Christian Academy, DeSales, KCD, Central, Atherton, Ballard, PRP, Eastern and all the other schools in Jefferson County. There is an opportunity for good football players  to be a part of State championship team a lot of different ways in Louisville.

  2. PRP schedules X and Manual in district and Male and Ballard out of district, although Male was in district for many of Coach William's seasons. That's a pretty tall order to fill each year. Finding a coach winning at his current school who wants to work for an  AD who fires the last coach for not consistently winning against that schedule won't be easy.

  3. No punishment. Adults need to be able to make responsible decisions for there players. Kids get hurt more often  in games when teams are completely out matched.  An 0-10 team usually has fewer players and less talented players. Beating their heads in against a #1 seed has real risk to kids whose hearts make promises there rear ends can back up. And as the One seed substitutes fresh kids who want to prove themselves they  continue to pound the 0-10 team. Its not a positive any way you cut it.

Football isn't basketball or soccer. Getting the heck beat out of you isn't just hyperbole.

  4. Given concussions are such an issue, I am surprised the old rule isn't strictly enforced. Not wearing a mouth guard is pretty dumb.  In addition to protecting teeth, research shows they also help prevent concussions. Risking an injury and missing 3 weeks in a concussion protocol to look cool is pretty dumb.

  5. I think it was 2016 when a winless Muhlenberg County team traveled to Louisville to play St X. It was Desmond Ridder's senior year. No one got anything out of that but an uncomfortable  5 hour round trip bus ride and a beat down that could not be avoided. Just about every team making the playoffs leads to these types of games.

15 games and July to December is a lot to ask of high school kids. Shorting the season by shorting the playoff a week would be good. Get it done Thanksgiving weekend

  6.  X made mistakes that should have prevented the loss but this was the most one sided poorly officiated game I have ever seen.

How from any angle in the stadium could that fumble be ruled as down? The running back was standing up all by himself.

The same official who made the just plain awful call on the fumble made one sided bad calls all night or odd errors that effected the game to Manual's favor. He  had an inadvertent whistle that stopped play right as  X snapped the ball on a 4th and 9 ( X converted anyway after the play was reset).  And called the excessive celebration call when X scored with 33 seconds left giving Manual 15 on the penalty.  ( High school kids shouldn't get excited about touchdowns in the ;last minute should they) And the same official delayed play  several times for reasons no one could understand when Manual happened to need a time out. It didn't appear to be "mistakes".

The fumble  wasn't even a close call. If the KHSAA doesn't want people to question official's integrity or competence that guy needs to be retired.

  7. The KHSAA using this nonsensical rating system to seed teams is a joke. There are several teams above past opponents that  crushed  the higher team.

Male dominated Ballard 34-3 and has a better record overall but is ranked below PRP. X beat Ryle soundly last weekend and Ryle is 2-4 overall but several spots ahead of X.

Trinity destroyed Bryan Station 36-3 and whooped  X 45-10 but is rated below both as well as a Henderson County's 1-5 mark. And Trinity has played   4 teams in the top 20 in this rating system.

Meade County is 5-1 but well below Henderson who is 1-5 so I guess that  is based on the 1 point  head to head loss by Meade to Henderson?

This index has no appearance of a legitimate basis in math or reality.

  8. Quite a few Catholic school kids have been playing optimist football because the CSAA is so poorly run. As an example, last year there were no officials scheduled for games on several Sundays including playoff games. The teams had to wait 2 hours for officials to show up at St X for the 8th grade semi finals. It was joke. No one apology to the parents and grandparents and there were no consequences.

  9. Not sure what is meant by "traditional ways of building a roster" ? Trinity didn't win many, is any,  freshman games last year, fired their freshman coach and hired a guy coaching an optimist team who brought a bunch of optimist kids with him. Is that a traditional approach?

Kids on Trinity's freshman team last year are starting varsity this year. The team struggled but there was talent.

Freshman develop, or don't.  It's a game every one wants to win but its neither a crowning moment or the end of the world for the next 4 years. X's freshmen have some talent and hopefully it develops. Trinity's freshman talent is deep. But you never know what happens over 4 years.
