Lex Cath and then Cov Cath to start the regular season.  Really nice schedule!

Did anyone have Lex Cath on their radar as someone the Birds were putting on the schedule in 2023?  Hopefully this will be a series that continues....LOVE IT!!!

Also, in regards to Cov Cath, is this the earliest Highlands has played Cov Cath in reg season?  This must be the result of them not being in the same district any more....

The Lex cath game doesn’t surprise me. I kinda felt it coming once their GCL contract ended. Coach Sphire coached at Lex Cath and the AD played at Lex Cath. Makes sense to me.

@THUNDERBIRDS, or any other Highlands fans, do you know if the Raceland/Highlands game was just a one year filler game from another one year contract?  Or, is that game something that may be renewed for the next two years?

All I’ll say is this week the Highlands schedule is coming out.

Agreed. Doesn't make sense. Unfortunately for CCH, I think you could argue that it might be harder, or at the very least, no different to win in 4A than 5A.

In terms of remaining schedule for HHS, I would expect to see CCH, Campbell Co., Lex Cath, Ryle, and SK. I doubt the Birds make the trip back to BG for the bowl game but I could be wrong.

Hearing that the Lex Cath game would replace the Rafferty Bowl on the schedule. Now that their are 5 teams Highlands has to play in district that only leaves four more out of district games. I feel like they might take Campbell Co. off the schedule just because that was normally a game they used as a confidence builder but now looking at the district I don't see the need to have an out of district game against an opponent like that. That's just how I look at it. Maybe they add an out of state game (OH,IN, or even a farther state)

Last season 859 Sports Insider had some connection to Team1Sports (Where Cooper, Ryle, Lloyd, and Conner) would broadcast, but so far 859 Sports Insider has been a ghost town, and Team1Sports still exists, but not with the 33rd district exposure, or Lloyd. Thankfully some teams broadcasts on Youtube like NewCath, Beechwood, Highlands, Holmes, Dayton, St. Henry, and Ludlow. Prepspin will broadcast games at $5, but the last couple of season Lex Cath home games had been posted for free on prepspin's Youtube channel.

859 insider has an app now where you can find every teams broadcast that has one.

I was thinking that as well. It would be easier for them to win state. Cov Cath, Highlands, Holmes, Scott as a district.
Do you see any other NKY teams making a move? Holy Cross to 1A? Any teams changing districts?

I really don't think that it will give either Cov Cath or Highlands a better shot at state then they would have in 5A. They'd have to go up against Corbin, Boyle, Lex Cath every year in the playoffs probably. I think they have the same chance in 5A as they would in 4A.
