I don’t think you are getting the whole story if this is what you think happened. Your timeline is off and has some wrong information according to what I’ve heard from my kids who go to BC and from being close with the community myself. First of all, this “players dad” issue you speak of. What you are referring to as “child being corrected” was actually Coach Kuehn calling him vulgar names and berating him in front of the team. So, naturally I feel that any parent would be upset about this. From what I’ve heard this became normal behavior from Coach Kuehn in his last couple years at BC. He would snap on kids and humiliate them, causing some to quit (mostly freshman). There seems to be this big story that Kuehn was fired because of “low numbers” and “not the same vision” but apparently he was told plenty of other reasons by the principal and AD but just chose to run with those two to make it seem like he has no clue why he’s being fired. I’ve heard one of these reasons included was his wife who also works in the school building. From what I’ve been told, she’s a little coo coo for coco puffs and slanders a lot of administration and workers at BC which may have caused tension. Next, let’s not be blind to the fact that BC plays a watered down schedule. Yes, they had a phenomenal season and made school history. But, no they didn’t beat their bullitt country rivals and they play in one of the worst districts in 5A. Not trying to take anything away from what those kids did this year, they deserved it all. But Kuehn is 1-5 against bullitt county opponents in his last 3 years and the trajectory was not looking good for him due to his shaky relationship with the middle school program which cost the program losing a lot of kids to other schools and also the fact that districts will change again in a couple years and competition will be heightened. The combined record of BC’s opponents this year was atrocious, but again, I don’t want to take away anything from the great things those kids did this year. In response to your timeline, I believe you have this meeting that took place between said parent, ad, principal, Kuehn and staff mixed up with that “conversation” with Huff about Kuehn being the OC. From what I’ve heard, this meeting between the ad/principle, staff, etc. is what started to cause tension between Kuehn and Huff. Huff stayed after to voice his concern to the ad and principal about how Kuehn had been addressing and treating players. This likely didn’t sit well with Kuehn. A few weeks later, Kuehn tells Huff he will be the OC for the upcoming year. I believe Kuehn thought and hoped Huff would quit as a result of this decision but Huff remained on staff for the duration of the season. There was no clear direction given to Huff on what Kuehn wanted his responsibilities to be from then on which is weird from a head coach. So, this may be why as you mentioned, Huff didn’t have much of a role during the season. I believe the hiring of Coach Clark a few days ago also debunks this whole theory of the AD having a personal agenda and wanting to get his boys in there. In fact, I’ve heard Huff didn’t even apply for the job. Coach Clark is a class guy who has 40+ years of coaching experience and is already a Bullitt Central legend after being an assistant at the school for around 25 years. I am excited to see what he does after getting the head coaching job that he has deserved for so long. I think Bullitt Central is in a great spot and the AD and principal did a great job in hiring the best fit for the program. With that being said, dramatic parents move on because football will be played on. Go Cougars!
