Who does WC have coming back?
-
I attended the camp in the summers of 90 and 91 with my high school team. Great camp, awesome man.

I think in all likelihood, there are three venues in the 4th that could host it. In addition to Barren County, I believe Allen County-Scottsville and Bowling Green both have the capacity to host. Bowling Green has never hosted in their current arena (and I'm confident will never get to), and AC/S last hosted the boys in 2000. But as you noted, it doesn't make sense not to use Diddle given the recent history of teams that make it, and the fact it is a neutral court. Little is even gained by travel holding it at either of the venues outside of Warren County.
I’ve been to it at Diddle, BC and ACHS. BC is the best atmosphere for it when it’s NOT BG and WC. Like you said, until that can change there’s no reason to move it. I really do feel that BC could have a 94ft court easily. There is plenty of room on each end for 10 more ft. I know that’s not a “must” but it could be done.

I still think BG was and is the better team this season, they just weren't in a 1 game scenario. They were borderline top 10 wire to wire, 29 wins, undefeated in region play prior to last night, wins over 4 teams that advanced to the sweet 16 etc. Central executed a nice game plan, and when it got tight late BG looked like a team who hasn't done it in a while - because they haven't. Having seniors who have experienced winning that game, even with little or no PT, makes a difference. Central got arguably Kade's best game of his season going 6/7 from 3 and BG scored just 3 points in the fourth quarter to lose in OT. Bounce of the ball here or there and maybe it goes the other way. But you can't take anything away from WC. They capitalized on BG's naivety and as I said earlier, appeared to want the game more.
And the offensive rebounds in OT when WC was missing free throws. Inexcusable

In the 4th, I used to love seeing the regional at Barren County. Enough seating, parking, etc. It’s just an 84ft floor. When it’s the BG/WC Invitational, Diddle just makes more sense.

Coach Unseld and DG both knew this whole season was a 1 game match. I had a sneaking suspicion WC could win it, up until about 2 weeks ago. I thought BG was just the better team this yr. Color me shocked.

Game was never in doubt. Price with 36 I think.

Good luck to these teams in the BG/WC Invitational.

And, ya know, the Russellville’s, FS’s, etc have just dried up of talent. No size in the region (other than Ritter). No Lathrem’s, Dewalt’s, Maresca’s any more at all. Just hard to watch.

Seems like I’ve said this the last couple of yrs, but the 4th is just really, really down, with the exception of WC and BG. It’s bad. I don’t know where all the skill and athleticism has gone, but it has.

Yeh, Greenwood was affected as well when SW was built. The thing is (and this is the elephant in the room) that the demographics at WC now just don’t care about sports. That’s reality. The ones that do just aren’t as good (except for boys basketball).

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Jeez BC.

The equipment thing needs to be heavily enforced for no other reason than player safety, look at what Cooper and Scott Co went through in the playoffs last year. I’m old man yelling cloud here, but your knee pads need to be covering your knees when you’re in an upright position, and mouth pieces need to be in your mouth not dangling from your face mask.
But but but it’s cool!!

I understand this was the plan for Nelly… 3-4 yrs and done. He really has done a remarkable job there, all things considered. WC has become a horribly tough, tough place to win at.

This region is way down. WC and BG are very good, as usual. Barren is down, GW is down. East is ok. 16th is down. Just very mediocre ball being played around here right now.

I would be surprised if the game at Bowling Green isn't a double digit win. It is difficult to win at Bowling Green under any circumstance, and I expect the Purples will want to relieve themselves of some frustration. Of the remaining two expected after that, I would expect the district final to be a higher potential to be lopsided. Those have typically not gone Central's way - the last two years excepted - and both teams tend to just let the talent figure it out in a district final, since there are no real advantages to gain. I would be surprised to see the region final be double digits. Only one of the three region finals between the teams that the Purples won was decided by double digits. Only two of the ones Central has won between the two was decided by that amount. Those games tend to be competitive even if there is a talent gap.
Also, during the game I told a few people that I was surprised DG didn't push it far enough to get a technical. I thought it was as unfavorable a whistle as I recall the Purples getting. I was very surprised. Now, were the fouls on Ritter and Wardlow fouls? I don't remember looking at them and thinking that any were particularly egregious. It's just that they don't all usually get called and it did not feel like things were evening out in how it was called on both sides.
DG could get T'd up every game. It’s constant with him (and I’m not a DG badger). He just walks the sidelines wearing the officials out.

Per usual, a 2 horse race.

Greenwood was scared to death, and played hot potato with the ball against BGs press. Played right in to their hands. On the offensive end, GW has no one that can score, other than Simpson. He’s the pg, and hunts shots like Roderick Rhodes.
-
BG has some athletes that can get up and down the floor. LRC has some stud athletes that can get up and down the floor. Man they’re good.

When I played in HS it resulted in extra conditioning for the first offense and loss of playing time after that.
So…. Punishing the kids for idiot adult’s actions?

Just don’t think anyone in this region can beat BG this year.
-
BG seems low. They’re loaded. WC seems way too high. They lost everyone but Unseld, who’s out for a while. They have a couple of transfers, but I don’t see them pushing them over the hump this year.
Watch out for Butler County. I’m hearing a lot of good pieces there, to go along with the Human Oozie Price.- 1
