Yes and no. I agree about the excuse making. I don't like that either.
However, when it comes to turnovers, you can change it. Turnovers are most often mistakes by an offense versus "forced" by a defense. Teams can absolutely control their turnovers. It is much easier for an offense to do things to reduce their turnovers than for a defense to do something that suddenly creates turnovers. For example, perhaps Cov Cath had a 21-0 lead and decided to try to do some things in the second half which led to the turnovers. I did not watch the whole game and did not see the turnovers so I can't say why they happened.
However, you are right. Turnovers also are a statement about team quality. Better, more talented teams will turn the ball over less and will "create" more turnovers. Perhaps Dixie's talent is a lot better than it has been and Cov Cath is less talented than they have been. Over a season, better more talented teams turn the ball over less than weaker less talented teams.
I do know this. Arguably the most important stat in a football game is turnovers. In the NFL, teams with zero turnovers in a game win about 75% of the time. Teams with 4 or more turnovers almost never win a game. Teams that win the turnover battle in a game, win 75% of the time. I always look at it as every turnover is worth 7 points in the game. If one team has 4 turnovers and the other 2, the team with 2 turnovers picked up a 14 point swing in the game. If you see an upset in the NFL, the first thing to check is turnovers. If the Bengals beat the Chiefs this year, a huge factor will be because the Bengals somehow won the turnover battle, and probably by 2 or more turnovers.
I don't consider pointing out the turnovers by CCH an excuse. We won't know till the season moves on if those turnovers were more mistakes by CCH or because of Dixie talent. But in the grand scheme of things, a 4 turnover advantage to Dixie should be worth 28 points for them on the scoreboard. And yet they still lost the game. They tells me CCH is better than them and more than a one TD difference better.
And that is why you are the voice of reason!

I would think an empty arena would cripple the KHSAA financially and they will do anything possible to keep fans coming to RUPP. However by next week, with the number of other cancellations the KHSAA may not have a choice but to fall in line.

Didnt play much in the semi-final either. Wonder what's up there?
Albeit, I saw a bunch of people on here mention him in the beginning of the year as a D1 talent, and the next big thing at CCH, but haven't heard much about him lately. Hope the young man is okay.
Seems he's on a short leash and lacking confidence. You can see his head drop every time he makes a mistake and then he looks to the bench and see's he is being subbed out. I guess now is not the time to play through continued mistakes, but the young man needs to keep his head up as the talent is there. His take to the rim in the 4th quarter was nice, but then he made a bad pass to a 7' against a trapping defense 35' from the basket that resulted in a TO. Head dropped and he came out of the game.

Beechwood returns a solid nucleus of individuals next year. Can the staff get them to play together as a team?
-
Teams simply cannot score against CCH. If you can’t hold them below 45 you can’t expect to win ! Despite all the top offensive talent the defense is their true identity under Ruthsatz’!
-
Which team did Jaxson Hayes play on as freshman at Moeller?
-
You mean this mix:
CovCath
Cru, Tigers, Cougars, Birds
Not to derail the game thread, but it's post like that (all the empty space) which creates some of the local distaste for CCH.
We get it CCH is better then everyone, as they should be considering they've become a destination school for basketball players. It is what it is, winning breeds that. As long as Ruthsatz is there, they are going to be 1 or 1A in the region. At this point, that may continue when Ruthsatz hangs it up. Lets face it, there had been 2 NKY state champs in the history of KHSAA and CCH has 2 in the last 5 years.
The one downfall could be St Henry or NCC grabbing a lot of CCH feeder school talent in the future. A lot of good players not seeing action at CCH. I typically don't see much first half JV action, so I could be wrong on this. I did recently notice 13 players on the varsity roster. The game I was at 8 saw the floor. 4 of those other 5 were non-seniors on the varsity bench and I did not see playing JV. They could've played the first half, I don't know. If that continues, I can see homegrown NKY feeder talent starting at STH or NCC, instead of playing freshman at CCH and transferring their junior or senior year when the playing time isn't there. I believe Cooper and Conner have recently benefited from those exiting CCH. I do not know if those transfers were feeder school kids, or other top NKY kids who went to CCH originally to play basketball.

Stocks is an excellent player. Is he from a “feeder” school or did he come from a public school or Ohio? Just curious.....heck of a player.
His Twitter account says from Cincinnati, OH.

very impressed with Ludlow tonight .. could make some noise and looking at the schedule don’t see them losing many games ... weak schedule could hamper their improvement though

Impressive showing out of the young Tigers.

I’ll also add that they need to be playing in their correct classification. They’ll never win a state title in 5A. Their state title game will always be CovCath.
Not a Highlands supporter by any means, but the term ALWAYS is a bit much. Highlands is down but the talent will cycle and they’ll be a top dog again. History says so. 10 years ago you could say CCH’s state title game will always be Highlands. To think Highlands will never win a state championship again despite the number of championships they have is simply not logical. Keep in mind the good majority of them if not all (not sure on the older ones) have been when paired with CCH!

Quite certain the folks in Ft Mitchell will be very interested in this one to get a solid gauge on the Wildcats! I Think NCC will win, but if the Wildcats do win this one they have to be considered a legitimate threat to win that district!
-
Don’t think injuries will matter .. Somerset returned quite a few starters and put up 75 tonight!
-
BW needs to win this one! If not 0-4 is very likely. Going on the road to Somerset will be tough and I see little chance against Corbin and no chance against CCH. A lot of uncertainty and new faces on the field for the tigers. Interior offensive line is fairly small and on par with your typical 1A/2A school. Very different then what they had up front the last 2-3 years.
In addition to a loss of size, they also lost speed. The speed of Castleman and Odom were game changers that is not being replaced.
BW will be disciplined, well coached and give maximum effort. But this is going to be a very different BW team! They should be fine at the back end of the schedule but this game is a needed victory for confidence.
