    Where are you seeing this?

    ESPN- #30 (4*)

    Rivals- #33 (4*)

    On3- #45 (4*)

    247Sports- #56 (4*)

Composite on 247 has him at #32.

Not saying he can't get to 5* status, because he certainly can, but as of right now he isn't a 5*. A good showing on the AAU circuit to close the summer and in this event would obviously force the outlets to re-evaluate.

I wish he were playing on the EYBL circuit instead of the 3SSB...way better competition and exposure.

Most of the sites haven't updated since the major AAU and camp season. With the tryouts and selections he is garnering I think he's gonna rise. And that was once a true statement but between the 3SSB, EYBL, UA, a lot of the talent is balanced as of late. Sure there is probably more on the EYBL but it isn't a crazy drop off of competition or exposure in my opinion.

  2. He is surrounding himself with all the top guys to be successful! This is the list of people Brad has had last couple years. Allar was number 1 prospect in country on many sites, and now PSU starter. Grunkemeyer is his backup also a top 100 kid on the sites. And then you have Monty another top 100 kid who just committed to Georgia. Emmett wouldn't be training with these guys or Brad if he wasn't in that tier, just my opinion.

Is he ready for Varsity play having only played Frosh ball?

I find it hard to believe, if he's top in the country, Elder and the GCL would have missed that.

    Is the UK offer real?

I've seen the camps he attends, plenty of kids are traveling around, but that doesn't translate to actual play in games.  Reminds me of "showcase baseball players", they can showcase well, get offers, have the metrics and fizzle out in games.

I got to think its Harney's spot to lose as he's shown out on a Varsity field before, especially in a tough spot.

    Great "problem" to have though!

I think you have to ask that question for every first year starter at the varsity level, you don't know what you truly got into you jot them out there. Nobody said he was top in the country but at the middle school level and camping multiple recruiting outlets had him up in that group. When it comes to quarterbacking, yes he is above Cash and anyone else I have saw in the colonels backfield. The accuracy, arm strength, size, zip on the ball, this kid has trained all year round for years now to become a quarterback. It's not like the kid has never play the position before he was a stud from an early age through middle school why would it be any different against those same kids at the high school level? He trains with Brad Maendler year round one of the top QB trainers in the area. Brad has had a QB make the ELITE 11 3 out of the last 4 years and he believes Emmett is on that path.

He is still widely lauded as He has been to Nick Saban’s Camp twice and a Nike camp and has an absolute cannon of an arm.  Issue is His mobility as CCH likes to use their QB as another RB at times.  Something to note that early on in His career Pitzer and had the same criticism about mobility and He became nothing short of an outstanding all around QB, Athlete, and Leader….the QB competition and offense is going to be interesting to watch going forward as they are nothing short of loaded with explosiveness with so many options/weapons, but have some big issues up front to sort out in order to get this train rollin’.

Yeah I follow him closely, big OSU fan and his pops went there. Have followed him since his CYF days, also already has that Kentucky offer. And is camping at Michigan and Penn State this week, kid is a stud. I think they need to hand the keys over now, it'll be better for the team over the next couple years.

He did.  He spent half of His Freshman year buried on the Elder Freshman Teams depth chart and was back at Cov Cath either right before or right after Christmas break.

That's surprising they had a Quarterback of his stature on the freshman team, or were other factors in play? At one point in time he was regarded as one of the top 8th quarterbacks in the country.

what I am hearing and seeing on this is that UKato91 is 100% correct and He has been moved to WR as He has shot up in height and they want to get the ball in space to Him.
I think the plan is to feature Geiser out of the backfield as RB1 with Andrew Bessler getting some carries(kid runs with an attitude attacking would-be tacklers before they can attack Him).

And as of now I think they like Harney better at QB as it gives them more options and more dynamic folks touching the ball.

I know a ton of folks are down on Harney’s arm strength compared to the cannon Queen has, but I am absolutely convinced it is not as big of a drop off as folks think it is.  The bigger issue for me is Harney looks to be on His way to a D1 level safety and He will be flat out scary coming downhill this year on D and I am not sure you want your starting QB doing that.  Harney may be more valuable staying at safety and getting the ball in space on offense as a RB or a slot WR and handing the offense over to a potential 3 year starter in Queen.

There are a lot more guys in the know on here then me and I would love to see this thread get directed more for a bit on some chatter on our QB situation as it seems like we have some legit options and options is good problem to have.

We are just weeks away from practice starting and lighting this candle.

    GO Colonels.

I thought Queen went across the river?

Was he run off due to performance or off the court issues?

    There's more to this story.

Definitely isn't performance. The guy had an 85% win rate! 2 of the very few state titles up here. I assume if he continued to coach at that rate he would have went down as the most accomplished coach in Kentucky history. If you just doubled his years and put his coaching to 26 years, at that rate he would have had 960 wins. He had 479 in 13 years, just unheard of.

Sully has a retirement issue he would strongly have to think about I would imagine for this job.

I don't think he will because of this more than anything. But gosh can we do a hypothetical for a second, Sully with all that talent at his disposal would be something.

IMHO this has little to nothing to do with parent PT complaints, if the Diocese is involved. I’ll just leave it at that.

I just don't think it's coincidence the last year or two we have seen more off the court shenanigans with parents and players more than ever and now this.

  10. And this all just confirms to me as a young person I wouldn't get anywhere near coaching. To many opinions from the people that don't matter. These guys coached hard, were all about winning, and all about the players. Worked for several years and now all of a sudden things like toxicity and culture are being mentioned. Something is quite fishy to me! If you can't do it at CCH, why bother even messing with coaching right now. You can't even coach anymore.

    This was known.

Didn't think it was locked in. We have heard rumors dating all the way to last years regionals but could never get confirmation. And I have heard more so issues with parents amid playing time and culture. Never heard the diocese was getting involved.

Eric Goetz? He’s had success at a catholic school in the area.

This job is bigger than Goetz. Sorry to say, also getting info that the Diocese was heavily involved. Would be interested to hear if anybody else is hearing this. Or why they would do it. Running off your best coach ever probably needs to be justified.

This is from Fox 19 in Cincinnati.

Scott Ruthsatz is stepping down after 13 seasons as the head basketball coach at Covington Catholic to pursue other interests.

    2 state championships
    4 state semifinals appearances
    6 regional titles
    10 district titles

Sad day for basketball lovers in the NKY area. He immediately elevated CCH, which in turn immediately elevated the surrounding basketball. 2 of the very few state championships up here and team was ready to compete for one every single year. In my young life they were the team to beat up here and the standard. A joy to watch the talent and coaching transpire over the years, and excited to see what happens next. Biggest job in the area and one of the biggest in the state.

Well, the most obvious is the fact that Joe Fredrick is no longer there, and that will have a major impact on kids wanting to come play there.  Then it appears unlikely Athens McGillis is back, so again, that would be a big blow to the returning Colonels.  I think those two will have a major impact on CovCath this year and beyond, but I guess time will tell.

I've heard Joe is gone but I haven't ever got confirmation of it, or saw him confirm it on social media. But Athens would be a huge blow to what they have going on. CCH will always be CCH but Joe and Coach Ruthsatz have definitely elevated it to a level that is gonna be hard to maintain so it was only a matter of time.

Until I see otherwise, I'm expecting CovCath's decade of dominance to be put on ice.  Some of that on Newport's momentum, some of that on changes that have been made, some of that on changes that "may" be made moving forward.

Care to elaborate on any of these changes that have been made and what your hearing going forward? That's a a bit of a cliffhanger your leaving us.

  16. Dixie has always had that potential of a program and outside of a few top end years they have struggled to consistently be a top football team in the area. And I know it was mentioned in the bball thread, but with their numbers and the amount of athletes that roam those halls it's inexcusable. Athletically as a whole being how big they have been for how long, they should have more hardware to show for it.

The talk about under-achieving and only winning a couple regionals, when was the last time they were favored to win the region and lost?  The only time I can recall is maybe back around the mid 2000's with Doug Jones and the Bramlage brothers where they lost to Ryle.

For Dixie being a borderline 5A/6A school, their class of athletes has always been cyclical going back to the 90s.  So it's not like there are athletes just walking around the halls not playing basketball. 2 years ago was the last class as they reached the finals where they lost to CovCath.  Dixie's biggest issue has been, and always will be CovCath.  Dixie's district is Edgewood, Villa Hills, and Park Hills.  CovCath's biggest pull is Edgewood, Villa Hills, and Park Hills.  The top athletes in their district are going to CovCath as they have the better track record.  The only way Dixie can potentially make some headway is to make a home run hire, and Sullivan may be that guy from a basketball standpoint.

There are athletes that are walking those halls not playing sports. My best friend was arguably the best quarterback of all time at Dixie, I've witnessed it all firsthand while also playing them as a rival. Dixie is known around for having a certain reputation off the field/court so yes maybe that contributes to pulling people in their district. At the end of the day one of the biggest schools in the area, that some years struggle to win district. Let alone advance in the regional. And to your point about the team a few years ago, that team was somewhat weak compared to most years and they still made it. But when you play in a district with all A schools and then get matched up with a runner up from a different district which is most likely an A school most years your gonna advance. They are for sure underachievers in my book, and sully would be an awesome hire to get them back rolling. He would be slot like Chevy, gonna run his system to a T and you're gonna play hard. Sub 10-11 guys and wear you down. He would do great at Dixie!

Wow, that was really harsh. But true.

What's harsh about it? Dixie has one regional once or twice while being one of the biggest schools in the state. And they play in a district with 4 other A schools. Well Lloyd has recently grown some, but still the same point. It should be regional final 4 for them at minimum every single year. That's just the facts.

Can’t wait for the 2024 football season to get on its way! I believe that Dayton should have reasons to be excited about the season. Last season didn’t finish as strong as the 2022 season, but they still won a playoff game. They return some talent from last year’s team and have some new faces who should contribute fairly well. Once I have more information about this, I’ll share.

As far as the new stadium is concerned, I know that the official groundbreaking being done by the school is scheduled for Friday, 4/29/24. I know that Greendevil Lane will no longer be used once the project is completed to drive on like previously. Once I have better pictures, I’ll upload onto here.

I know that Davis Field gets at least one more season for the one coming. If anyone is interested in catching a game from a neat old stadium, this might be the last one to do so. As I get more information, I’ll post on here.

So one last full season at the old field? Or will they play games at both this year?
