Fire Bell because he can't coach a minor league team into major league wins?

This lineup is terrible. Nobody is winning with this lineup.

Actually, that lineup is part of the reason. Tyler Stephenson has been one of the Reds most consistent bats but is consistently sitting at least every 3rd day, sometimes the day before an off day. That can’t happen when things are going poorly.

His routine over the years (yes even with a bad bullpen) of leaving a reliever in who clearly doesn’t have it in for 3 batters too long is maddening. On the same token, all too often he has brought in a reliever going well to end a threat and get the last out of an inning (even on 1 pitch!) and remove them for a guy who has been struggling.

The biggest most glaring hole is the absolute lack of urgency he has. Things are going awful and we will always get ho-hum David Bell talking about how close they are. Sometimes it’s okay to say we’re getting our butt whipped and we will continue to work to find guys to change that. If managers in bigger markets had teams performing this poorly and had sound bites like Bell they’d be in the national media for it.

The MLB is 162 games so it’s a marathon and I get that, but the lazy narrative of a couple games here and there aren’t the big picture is old. Last year they missed the playoffs by 2 games, every year there are 2-4 teams per league within 2 games of the playoffs. You can’t continue to let stretches like that happen or you will always be on that outside.

Everyone in Cincy wanted Bryan Price gone after a 3-15 start despite having a roster that started Jose Peraza, Billy Hamilton and Scott Schebler everyday. His bench featured Brandon Dixon, Dilson Herrera and a bad post-contract Mesoraco. His pitching staff included a washed Homer Bailey and even Matt Harvey. Bell is 4-16 in the last 20 and Price got canned for 3-15.

The conspiracy theory crowd is going to need to work overtime on this playoff season. New York is out. No NY; No LA; No Philly; No Chicago. Indianapolis and Minneapolis are in? What are the NBA and their refs up to?

Not really. This is exactly the year I’d expect for them to throw off our argument and get back to the big cities and big money winning next year.

One option would be to allow the regional winner and runner-up to attend the tournament.  That would increase the field to 32 teams with a draw format.  No way that anyone should want to have the format set up like the current football playoffs.  There are too many classes in football and should only be the top teams in their districts with the possibility of a wild card for a few teams.

This seems crazy too. It blows my mind every year in KY that teams lose in the postseason (districts) and advance.

  4. I heard Mo Egger saying that he believes if UC can get to the semi-finals of the Big 12 tournament, they are right on the bubble to make the NCAA tourney. He added if they make the Championship he thinks they're in for sure. They're a game or two away from doing exactly that.

UC is interesting to me. I really don't feel like they should make it after their season if they fall short of hoisting the Big 12 trophy (which I don't think they do), but if they manage to make the tournament, I think they're a team that see's a second weekend.

Just so many games they fell just short in this year. Have they learned to finish close games?

Off by about 16 ppg. UK is averaging just under 90 points per contest.

For informational purposes, may I share the actual stats:

    Giving up 79.1 per game.

    Scoring 89.6 per game.

I can’t believe you all are going to let actual facts get in the way of a baseless, biased and ridiculous statement.

Everything went the Cats way today, could have beaten the Celtics!! Gave up 95 points again defensively but that’s just what they do. So Auburn missed over 15 uncontested shots and Ky got the win, Cats blow a 15 pt lead vs LSU and got beat, until the defense gets better and they take better care of leads, I’m not getting excited about their chances in tourney play, today’s game will never happen again, actually yesterday’s game.

95 points isn’t ideal, but there were a ton a quick possessions yesterday too, giving the opponent more possessions. They’ll always score more in that scenario.

With that said, you can’t give up 50+% shooting and win consistently.

That is laughable, he is plenty athletic and his competitive instincts are second to none, Wagner is lacking in both of those things you mentioned.

You said DJ Wagner is lacking in athleticism lol…

Reed starting was a no brainer, and yes, it was the answer to more stability and less turnovers, wins haven’t came but Wagner definitely needs to come off the pine.

Welp… I wasn’t sure how much credibility you had left but you threw it away suggesting Sheppard starts over a fully healthy Wagner.

Cardinals are picking up pitching left and right.   And the Reds....Well, they are considering kicking the tires on Shane Bieber, who spent part of last season on the IL with arm issues.   This team doesn't hit consistently enough to win every game 12-10.

I mean is simply adding pitching enough? They haven't added a ton as far as quality pitching. They added Sonny Gray, who will likely be their #1 and he had a couple of stints on the IL last year too. I'm all about them adding quality, not simply adding pitching. I'm certainly not for them signing a guy for 80m (up to 100m) that has proven back issues.
