  1. From what I am hearing Floyd Central is a run first offense that utilizes a big fullback who rarely gets the ball but is a good run blocker. The running back and quarter back both run the ball decent with the QB being their best athlete. They can throw the ball some but are better at the run game.

It could look a little like last weeks game with Mercer but I think Boyle will not do any experimenting with the D line this week and make yards much harder to come by. That said I saying Boyle 52 FC 10

  2. I have had the good fortune of watching these two groups of young men compete for 6 years now. From the middle school slober knockers to the somewhat one sided but still exciting games of the last few seasons. Western Hills has always played with passion and drive even with a half of the kids that Boyle regularly has on the sideline.

Both squads are blessed with prime time talent and the big play potential in this game will be high for both teams. In what could be his last game against the Rebels I'm sure Wandale will play wide open. One man wont be enough though and a running clock is a real possibility for Boyle.

  3. The Rebels dominated tonight, start to finish. With coaches from UK, Cincinnati, Michigan and a few other schools on hand for the game several Rebels made a big impression and helped there chances of getting on the recruiting radar. UK coaches were asking about #9 and #58 for Boyle saying " those two are straight ballers" whatever that means.

Lex Cath could not get anything going on offense with the QB scramble being the only thing that worked more than once.

  4. In 2015 Boyle was #1 in 3A when the Knights came to Rebel stadium and beat the favored Rebels by 7 and Boyle never recovered from that loss. A lack luster performance at Central ended their season and this years seniors remember well how that season went south. This game will have similar consequences for the loser as they will have a very difficult path in the playoffs.

If Boyle gets over the mental hurdles that come with this game and don't beat themselves they should win by 2 or 3 scores. The way some of the guys that don't get enough credit have stepped up over the last 2 games I think the Rebels will get the job done.

  5. Several young Rebels stepped up in this game. Caleb Holderman had a nice game with several tackles and Luke Sheperson continues to show big catch ability on offense and a nose for the football on special teams.

Garrard had some success on a couple drives in the first half on the ground then caught us overcommitting to the run on 4 or 5 pass plays. But defense is non existent for the Golden Lions as the Rebels did anything they wanted from start to finish.

  6. The Rebels will be missing at least 6 players that started the first game this year on Friday night due to injury or various other reasons. It will be a good test for some of the young players who work just as hard and usually only see the field during mop up time. Getting the opportunity to play when the outcome of the game is not decided will add a level of pressure that some of these players have not yet experienced.

The offensive and defensive lines will be missing a few key players and that could make for a much closer game than Rebel fans will be comfortable with. If they can give Reed enough time to get the passing game going I don't think the Lions offense will be able to match scores with Boyle.

  7. This will be the first time in a while that Danville wont be a heavy favorite to win this game but I think they are still the favorite, just barley. Danville has lost there drive or confidence or something and seem to be going through the motions with no sense of urgency. A win against Somerset could right the ship and help motivate the Ads to get all they can out of this season. A loss to the Jumpers will continue the Ads decent from the pinnacle they reached last year.

  8. Terrible field conditions, inexcusable sideline conditions on the visitors side and officials insisting that Boyle co stood in ankle deep water and mud made for less than ideal conditions for the Rebels to focus on execution. The offensive line played very well and continued to show steady improvement opening holes for Andrew Sacco and Tanner Crawford consistently. The wet field slowed Bartleson more than the North Hardin defense as footing for all of the quick cut runners for both teams was non existent.

Both teams had reason to question the officiating as this crew was just plain bad. I watched 41 seconds run off the clock with no delay of game call and a no call when my son planted North Hardins QB well after the ball was away.

Drew Baker was the difference maker in this game on both sides of the ball and Wilson Kelly ran through the Hardin offensive front all night even though he was double teamed and held on most every play. We were fortunate that only one player was ejected with the frustration level that was created by the lack of rule enforcement. A 21-14 win with everything the Rebels had to overcome in this game is likely the best we could hope for in this slope.

  9. Props to Boyles offensive line on a great game. Reed was well protected and the blocking for the running game looked much better with some big holes opened up consistently.

Props to the defensive line for keeping there composer and playing through the ridiculous amount of holding the Collins O line was allowed to get away with. Not making a few of those calls may speed the game up but it sure looks bad on the officiating crew.

Props to Drew Baker on a great job taking on kicking duties along with playing on both sides of the ball. Boyle's special teams are very good and having a player like Drew step up and kick as well as he did has got to be reassuring for the coaches and his teammates.

Props to sophomore Luke Shepperson on an ESPN top 10 quality catch in the first quarter. His solid play on special teams, offense and defense will have the attention of several collage recruiters in the near future.

Overall a dominating performance, aside from a few penalties the Rebels could not have played much better.
