If Spencer Free plays HC wins. Neither team looked good IMO. Polar Bears better buckle up before Monday night. Camels are dangerous and no more playing at the Igloo this season....
-
Mason County GUARDS you. They are like pests on defense. Harrison struggled getting into an offensive rhythm all night with Mason County switching up defenses. Great job by Coach Cox and his staff. Their difficult regular season schedule has prepared them for this time of year.
Friday night:
Clark vs Nicholas
Mason vs Campbell
Should be fun!

Campbell beat Bourbon 49-13 during regular season. BoCo almost pulling off upset says something about Coach Bill Watson and the job he did preparing his team.
-
Bullitt East...if they weren't top 25 they were close

Who will be top 10 teams? Top 10 players?

I disagree completely. If AC has to score over 50% of Polar Bear points then historical data would project the season is over. Bracken's bigs have to show-up strong. If they do, Polar Bears by 8. If not, Breds will run them off the court.
You're correct. Jones and Engnes cannot disappear like they did vs Mason County. Maybe the stage was to big for them. They must play better vs Midden, Boyers, Price and Harris on Wednesday or they are going home.

If Bracken's second best player (#15 Jones) showed up Bracken wins. He played scared IMO.

When they played last season Pig Williams was in the middle of his two game suspension for getting ejected at Brossart. This year I do believe Belcher had the better team.
When Belcher inherited PC they had won 9 games the previous season and lost by 30 in District Tournament to rival Harrison County. Truthfully, he has done a great job of building the program. Hes won 2 district titles already (same amount as Hinson). He's won 15 games, 16 games and 18 games in his first 3 years while losing 3 transfers all in the process. This year the Wildcats won 18 games in the regular season (most since 2006) and didn't have Michael Antrobus. I think he's probably higher than what he's been ranked on the thread.

Would love to see what Josh Cook could do at a Robertson County, St. Patrick or a Augusta (post Bach, Crawford, Maddox and Snapp).
-
Coach Belcher is 2-0 vs Coach Biggs. Find that interesting.
-
Hard to rank coaches IMO.
Matt Botner is another guy who has Nicholas County improving annually.
-
I think that would be my five as well.
One guy didn't have Allen in his top 5 ...SMH

Whoa. We are getting off-topic here guys. This thead is about the 39th District championship game ...
When Vito started listing "best coaches in the region" that's when things started turning away from the main topic. Vito please start another thread if you wish to rank them. Thank you.

I would vote :
Ohmer
Allen
Crawford
Heygi
Wells

The draw got what the "casual fan" wanted. CCH and Cooper across from each other ....should be a great tournament.

Voting comes out Monday per Josh Cook. All-Region team will be announced by end of the week.

IMO, Harrison County is not a "POOR BASKETBALL TEAM". They are a team with a POOR record.
Perhaps they weren't motivated by the regular season. Maybe the chemistry of the team has committed to team success in the post season, but this formerly 4 wins team knocked off the 18 wins Pendleton County Wildcats, and I doubt that Coach Belcher believes that they are all that bad.
They are a good group of athletes, who played just well enough to lose most of their games this year. I personally think they are dangerous vs the Polar Bears, because the Bears, like the Wildcats, depend on a bell cow for their success.
Therefore, I'm not quite ready to pencil in the Polar Bears in this one.
Well said Mustang.
Harrison County is the best 6-25 team I've seen in a while. They have some pieces to be successful in the regional tournament. And those pieces are mostly sophomores and juniors. They only have one senior #10 Keishon Gilkey.
I think Bracken vs Harrison will be a very good game on Wednesday night.

Last Regional Championship for each team in field:
Mason County 2016
Campbell County 2015
Clark County 2012
Harrison County 1997
Scott 1989 (9th Region)
Paris 1970
Bracken County 1955
Robertson County Never

Something to think about ...Pendleton County won 18 games this year without Michael Antrobus (1,700 point scorer @ Rowan County). If they had him I don't think Harrison qualifies for regional tournament this year...
-
Lots of respect for Clark co coach josh cook and what he's accomplished this year. Clark could be pre season #1 next year in 10th...
-
Harrison best 6-25 in state of Kentucky??
-
Clark and Campbell
Scott and Mason
Best first round matchups
However Harrison Bracken should come down to wire as they split during year.

37th District Region Final
Camels vs Scott
Just like 2015 when there were 800 people @ The Fieldhouse
Campbell County 55 George Rogers Clark 45 (10th Region Quarterfinals)
in KY Boys Basketball (High School)

Clark County has started 4 juniors and a sophomore (Graham) all season. They will be top 3 in the region all year next season.
Congrats to Campbell for playing an entire 32 minute game. Russell kid needs to play more...I am partial to lefties
