When was the last time a good idea came out of NJ?
-
-
I'm sure he thought as he ran by "I'm gonna intentionally grab this guys facemask!". I'm also sure you could see it better from 1000' feet further away than I was. I should've never even brought it up........
He was most definitely "grabbing" for something. What? I have no idea, but he got a nice handful of facemask.
Definitely not 1000' further away from the play than you. Can't even begin to imagine how you would come up with that number. That's almost 3 football fields farther away than you. I'd have to be past the baseball field, arena, or hovering in a blimp to get that far away from anywhere you may have been.
Being an obvious mayfield fan, there is absolutely no possible way for you to have had a better view of that play than me. Unless ofcoarse you were a player or ref on the field.
As a fan, you could have been CLOSER on the mayfield side, but looking through cheerleaders and looking at the back of the newcath player.
Even if you were on the field/sidelines, your view would have been obstructed or not at a clear angle. At least not clear enough for you to think you saw the ball hit the ground before the catch.
If my math is correct (geometry was never my strong suit), and if the pathagorean theorem is still valid, at 5'10, I would estimate my eyes to have been a distance of between 170'-180' away from the play.
I can see why you'd think you shouldn't have brought it up... being wrong and all...

That is exactly the play in looking for, the problem is the picture is taken after the ball bounced off the turf. Also, the runner was down before the pictured facemask occurred. It was called a PF 15 yrd penalty. Only thing possible would be incidental or maybe illegal hands to the face. These would not have been 15yd penalties since the mask was not grabbed during the tackle. Plus, the pass should have been incomplete, but thanks for the pic dude!
Ball did not bounce off the turf... It was caught clean.
The face mask was actually worse than what you are calling for. #3 was down, on the ground a step before #9 put his hands on him. Didn't have to touch him. Even if he wanted to touch #3 down, it didn't call for grabbing the face mask as he ran by.

I was Just reading the report, they could have. Anyone know if an interception was thrown?
Yes. 24 Freppon had one. 1st play of their 2nd drive of 1st qtr.
-
I thought that too. Ncc did a lot of hitting after the whistle and grabbing players after plays, pushing ect. Faking being pushed to refs. Classy
Might have be the results of the many hands to the face (under the facemask) and facemask grabs by Mayfield.
But that was Mayfield doing it, so you probably didn't see it.

It is really cool.
One injury from being banned I am sure.
Now it looks like they are throwing baby powder packets.

Some of the khsaa staff weren't sure. They were all over the radio about it.

Until posted here, how many people actually knew it was a rule?

Trivia: In 1927 the Purples hopped a train and headed south. On Dec 9th they played Marianna, FL and pulled out a 13-6 win.
Trivia?

Age is a factor. Don't they always talk about the Male/Manual rivalry dating back to the 1890s or early 1900s? Hard for schools opened in the 60s and 70s to be on this kind of list.
Short of those top 5 schools closing, or having a "down decade", I'd say that they will stay the top 5 for a very very long time.
From Valdosta's website:
Beginning in 1913 the Valdosta Wildcats Football Program has achieved a level of excellence that is unmatched by any other high school program in the nation compiling a record of 899 wins, 220 losses and 34 ties.
From a Highlands football website:
Highlands High School has been in existence since 1888 and the school has been playing football since 1915. The first call for football occurred on September 17, 1915, and Highlands' first football practice was held in the school auditorium on October 18, 1915.
Wiki:
On Saturday, November 18, 1893, the annual Male-Manual football rivalry, the longest running, continuously played, high school football series in Kentucky, began.

I believe Valdosta is at 899 now.

So if SK was aware of this rule would it be considered cheating?
Maybe Brady's attorney can give them some advice
-
Whoa!!! STOP!!!
There is no point to what I posted. I read the thread about Highlands having a floor issue, and chimed in that Newport is having a similar issue.
Nothing more, nothing less!
No Point, Just an editorial FYI.
My apologies
With the amount of whining going on about this, what I heard in your post was "why could highlands use their middle school"
-
I could care less about where the games played, honestly I'm a lot closer to BG than Lexington or Louisville, but I don't understand the rationale that because their would be unfilled seats at Commonwealth or Papa Johns that it should be a huge factor in determining where the games are played. Other states do it for their championship games. Lucas Oil Stadium is as big of a venue as Commonwealth and the Indiana folks don't seem to have any complaints. Ohio plays theirs in the massive 100,000+ Horseshoe.
Texas has theirs at Cowboy stadium. Even playoff games!
And they have high school stadiums that would look empty if hosting the KY finals!

Our "fish-eating" brethren 12 miles away Bishop Brossart is the other.
CovCath is even closer at 4 miles away. Different county though.
-
Nice fancy video, Mayfield really doesn't need videos like that, the school just speaks for itself.
Or nobody cares enough to make one.
-
Similar situation exists at Newport High School.
Gym floor issues. The Brossart - Newport Boys JV/Varsity games scheduled for Thursday night have been moved to the Middle School - The Newport Middle School.
And? what's your point?
Should Newport have moved their game to NCC? Or are you saying Highlands should have used their middle school?
Either way... WHO CARES?
Seems like a bunch of people have their panties in a bunch over scheduling?
OBVIOUSLY the fine folks at NewCath had no issue with it.
There has to be something more interesting to complain about than this...
Good grief!
-
Really? when was this? I have never heard about that
I'm sure that are more things than just this that you've never heard about
-
Not that simple. I get NCC's varsity game maybe bumping the frosh due to a scheduling issue. That's life on the frosh team. But to say "sorry boys - we've got a school willing to pay us..." is a bit much.
Why should NCC re-schedule? Why couldn't they find a date that works for HHS and SHA? Why not move the game to SHA?
Maybe the folks up on the hill aren't blanking blank blanks and decided to help out a neighbor.
It didn't just happen today. I've known about the Highlands/SH game for about 2 weeks.

It's called emotion's I do believe and yes they do get the best of all of us sometime's. Is it right NO but it happen's, as a parent/fan we all just want the best for our kid's and team.:isurrender:
LIQUID emotions maybe.
As I recall Beechwood has a similar issue with the tailgating before, well, anything.
-
They may have & I definitely don't condone coaches or players talking to fans or cheerleaders, but that's an SK issue for putting the visiting team on that side.
The SK fans are ridiculous. Varsity, JV, and freshmen games.
-
Really depends on the outcome of tonight's game.

Doesn't sound like it was too stressful
