  1. Semi Auto Firearms weren't banned, you could still buy them...in my previous job I sold 1000's during that time frame. You just couldn't buy black scary looking guns during that period.

JD, I believe the ban only discontinued the manufacturers from producing those guns for civilian use. The firearms that were already on the market could be bought or sold by citizens who legally qualified. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  2. During the ten year ban, there were 15 mass murder shootings. There have been 10 this year alone.

There were 15 during the ten year ban. In the ten years after the ban was lifted there were 37.

In the last 3 years there have been 23 mass murder shootings.

US Mass Shootings, 1982-217: Data From Mother Jones’ Investigation – Mother Jones

In the 12 years prior to the ban there were 19 events, an average of 1.5 per year. The exact average of the ban years. We can debate the statistics until we’re blue in the face. I see nothing in the 1994 ban that allows me to logically conclude that it would keep a person from purchasing or owning an assault weapon.

So if it makes people feel better, sure ban them again.

  3. As they should be. Everyone, including most NRA members believe in some gun control. The question is where should the line be drawn. I am starting to believe the line needs to be drawn back where it was from 1994-2004.

The ban of 1994 simply banned the production of semiautomatic weapons for civilian use. Did not ban the buying or selling of these firearms by the civilian population. How would this possibly help?

  4. Well then I missed my mark, if anything, I'm trying to take the opposite of a high horse. Who are we, anyone, to say some music stinks that millions of people love? Say it isn't for me, fine. But it is horrible? I think the music snobbery that comes up on this site incessantly is gross, so if that puts me on some weird high horse, I guess I'll ride it proudly. Guess what Snottie, if you like slash metal, good for you, enjoy it. If you love opera, okey dokey, while not for me, I hope it makes you happy.

Sorry to not jump on the "Random Musician that is wildly successful STINKS" bandwagon.

I agree 99.999%. The outlier being Every Rose Has It's Thorns. I dug up all my Knockouts because they reminded of that song.

  5. Not only do they not need to, if I was university legal counsel, I'd have advised against saying anything at all.

I'm curious to know what they're throwing around as "cause". Like Pitino's contract, Jurich's is pretty specific about what constitutes cause.

According to Terry Meiners, the cause was insubordination.

  6. If you aren't interested in what I have to say, don't bother to ask. I've scouted every kid on this team for the last 2 plus years. I see flaws in the construction of the roster, and I'm simply expressing it...

Didn't mean to come across as dismissive. I appreciate your thoughts on this team and always enjoy your input. I tend to believe what I see with my own eyes, and I see lots of talent and versatility with this group. Agree to disagree.

  7. I see long and athletic. I don't see much versatility. I'm a big PJ Washington guy, but he has a similar skill set to 4 other guys on the roster. They can't all play the same spot at the same time. Spacing and movement is going to be a problem. This team is going to make UK fans really frustrated in the half court...

Nearly all D1 coaches would give anything for the lack of versatility that Cal will suffer through this season.

  8. Based on? I don't see this roster as well constructed at all...

I love teams that are capable of playing great defense. This team could be outstanding defensively. Long, athletic, deep and most importantly, Versatile. Throw In the fact that these guys seem hungry and you have a great foundation.

Offensively it will take time for this group, however I believe the combination of Green and Gilgeous-Alexander will be very good at the point. Knox, Washington and Gabriel look ready to me.

What don't you like about this group?

  9. Matt Jones is a world class Tool. He plays up to an irrational fan base (most of the time) and his material is not very good. I can't understand how this guy gets any prime air time. I have met him twice while working with the Legends and he has been a tool both times.

Jones gets prime air time because his ratings are outstanding.
