  1. 3-0 Oldham County vs 0-3 Seneca.

The Red Hawks have 3 lopsided losses to Fern Creek, Moore & Southern with a combined score of 134-18. Oldham on the other hand has been on the other side of that with 3 lopsided victores over Henry County, North Oldham & Collins with a combined score of 99-14. Last year OC won 35-0 at Seneca.

The Colonels are averaging over 300 yards of Offense with SR Lucas Jones (115 Rushing per game)JR Parker Caudill (71 Rushing per game) and JR Juan Tapia (77 Rushing per game) leading the 3 headed attack.

Defensively OC is #1 in 5a in scoring defense (4.7 avg), #9 in rushing defense (81 avg) and #11 in passing defense (76 avg). They are led by SR DT Deven Cancel (20 tackles, 5 sacks), SR DB Jacob Ratliff (16 tackles, 1 int, 1 TD) and JR LB Preston Dykes (15 tackles, 1 sack, 5 TFL)

Seneca has not entered stats for this season so I have nothing to compare them to individually. They are coached by 1st year man, Mike Jackson who will get the boat righted and they will be in the right direction soon. Coach Jackson will definitely change the culture there and have them back winning soon, just hopefully not this week. ;-)

I'm taking the Colonels in this one. 42-7

  2. This is a nice list. I'm going to add Jacob Ratliff for Oldham County. Starts WR and SS. OC is a run first team so his O stats are not much (3 catches, 64 yards, TD) but he plays every play and is a key blocker. On D he has 16 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 INT and 1 TD. He returns punts and long snaps on punts. He has been All-District the last 2 years so teams tend to throw away from him, 3 attempts to his side and they have 1 breakup, and 2 ints as a team.

    Here is his hudl:

  3. I know alot of the great teams dont play many players both ways but there are some out there. Who would you pick? What do they play? What are their stats? Do they have a Hudl? Please keep it positive, even if you don't agree with someone else. Once we have the nominations I will do another post with a poll. Players have to play atleast 75% of the plays on both sides of the ball.

  4. Halftime OC leads 24-0.

Well rounded game for Colonels, 98 yards rushing and 1 td with 123 yards passing and 2 td. 3 backs with 30+ yards and 2 receivers with 60+ and a TD each. A big 33 yard run on the last play before half with OC in a prevent D puts Collins rushing at 48 yards and 34 passing yards for 82 total yards. Sean Ralls connects on a 48 yard fieldgoal to round out the scoring.

  5. The Colonels (2-0) ride into Collins (0-3) to defend their #1 defense ranking. OC is coming off their OPEN week and the Titans are coming of a Home loss to 6A Ballard. This could easily be a trap game for Oldham County because the 3 teams Collins have lost to are all looking very good this year. The Colonels have been depending on a strong running game (310 avg/game) and a Stingy Defense (0 points, 26 RY/game). Lucas Jones leads the way for OC with 295 yards on only 31 carries. Deven Cancel leads the way on D with 15 Tackles, 4 sacks.

Collins is paced by Jaden Wilson's 138 rushing yards and Joe Lucas's 300 yards passing. Anthony Bradford leds the Titans in tackles with 35.

I'm taking the Colonels in this one, They finally give up some points but still get the win, 28-7

  6. I agree on that. You can only have 1 solo or 2 assists but I've seen where an opposing team ran 32 plays and there were 25 solo tackles and 30 assists given out? The score was 35-40 some of those plays went for scores??? how did they come up with 40 total tackles??

This needs to be sent to all schools:

    HOW TO RECORD TACKLES

    Tackles: Solo & Assisted

Schools have a variety of ways of recording tackles. The rule however is that only one player

can have a "solo" tackle on a play. Also, no more than two players can be credited with an

assisted tackle when there is no solo tackle awarded. Tackles are not given on scoring plays.

You cannot have a solo tackle and an assist on the same play. You cannot have MORE solo plus

assisted tackles than the opposing team has plays. If an offensive team has a total of 52 plays, of

which 4 resulted in scores, there cannot be more than 48 solo tackles, or if no solo tackles were

credited, no more than 96 assists.

    Tackles for a Loss; Sacks

In quikstatsiowa.com, tackles for a loss means exactly that – loss of yards rushing measured back

from the line of scrimmage. Charge the ball carrier with a rush and loss of yards. A sack, solo or

assisted, involves only the passer or player attempting to pass. If tackled behind the line of

scrimmage or forced out of bounds for a loss – the pay is a rush with negative yards and a sack for

the defense. This is for scrimmage plays only. Do not include returns of kicks, interceptions or other

returns where the ball carrier may retreat from the point of original possession. If a solo tackle is

awarded, the loss yardage goes to the tackler. If there is no solo tackle, then split the loss

yardage between the two players that are credited with assists on the tackle.

Ball Carrier Going Out of Bounds – Tackle or Not?

A person in possession of the ball who is forced out of bounds during a play or who runs out of

bounds voluntarily credit a solo tackle to the player who forces him out or is closest to him, but

    no assist
