Atwell is a great QB, but Carrico also was a stud receiver that made a huge impact last year. I am interested to see if they can replace him or not.

I really enjoys the times when we agree! To snakes point ...I think that LCA got a little to used to beating teams of high caliber ... at it gave them a sense normalcy.
Great point here. Obviously the schedule isn't ideal. If they approach it right ... it can be overcome. Having Mayfield on the schedule helps. Graves should be better as well.
They certainly are not the only team in this state that deals with a not so great last 5 or 6 games in the regular season. They need to make sure their starters are playing into the 3rd quarter to stay sharp. There are lots of great schools who do it year after year.
You don’t have to worry about them leaving starters in in the 3rd quarter no matter who they are playing and what the score is.

Possibly because he already committed for baseball?

I'd love it if Mayfield added South Warren to there schedule. May win or may not win but I'm all for competitive teams playing one another
I would like to see either South Warren or Bowling Green a little later into the season but prior to the district games

Stinson was 19-27 for 324 yds. 2 tds
Matthews rushed 32 times for 256 yds
Mayfield offense looked the best of any game so far. I thought defense played well with the exception of 3 big plays in 1st qtr

Pikeville and Paducah top of their classes and Monroe County with a good ranking in 2A. Also Trigg was good that year

All of us Mayfield guys that played for Leahy could put some good ones on here, but they would all be a violation of the rules

I know this isn’t football topic but I wonder how many times softball state champ has come out of losers bracket? I always thought it was sort of cool that you could lose 1 and still have a chance to win

Can someone enlighten me? I don’t think that there is any difference in public and independent schools. Maybe I’m missing something

I was thinking the longest drive was from Mayfield to Lexington

The bad thing about players ejections that the KHSAA needs to educate the officials on the rules. Last year's Mayfield player # 4 was ejected for targeting and the rule clearly stated that targeting is not a ejection but a unsportsmanlike penalty and 15yards. The film was reviewed and not overturned. The film clearly showed no helmet was used in this hit. Officials watch to much TV and seem to mix rules up between NCAA and KHSAA.

The case of mayfield LB last year was appealed with video and the appeal was denied. However it was later learned that the player was ejected for a non ejectable offense and it was a mistake. So yes the process needs to be looked at.

Or maybe he is retiring from teaching and could be hired back after the required time off for a different position…and coach.
