  1. Im taking Casey, not just because I'm a homer, but because of their play as of late. The Rebs are coming into the tourney riding some pretty nice wins, and seem to have their defense figured out. Collin Miller and Jake Smith continue to carry the offense, and EKU football signee, DJ White has had a nice year overall as well. Breece Hayes has been consistent in the post all year, and is a scrappy rebounder. Freshmen Max Reyes has gotten better as the year has progressed, and Wyatt Slone has been pretty solid down in the post the past few games.

All that said, I think the winner of Casey vs Pulaski, wins District.

  2. I've watched Mercer all year long. It's not athleticism that concerns me. It's teams that can drain three after three. SW is not nearly as athletic as Cordia, but man can they shoot the three ball!

I agree, that'll be the difference tonight. If SW is hitting 3's it'll be a game, if not, I look for Mercer to roll right on through.

  3. I know I'm biased but I think Somerset has one of the best small gyms in the state.

I love that gym! People can say whatever they want about it being too small and confined, but that's what makes it what it is. You step in that gym and it's like you've taken a step back in time. And when the band is on tap, yessir it's a dandy!

  4. Casey has played one of the tougher schedules in the 12th this season, and they've lost several that shouldn't have even been close. That said, I'm looking for a big win tonight on senior night against Danville, and a big win against Lincoln on friday night. This is a talented and balanced team with 2-1000 point club members in the backcourt, capable bigs, and a statement to make come 47th district time.

  5. As a Manimal parent, you think they have the size to compete with the bigger teams on the Adidas Silver Bracket?

I think this team will be more than capable of competing against big teams, and I look for a run and gun mentality. This style of play has been a very successful formula for Coach Stallworth and Manimal in the past, and should be the same with this group. Honestly this is probably a bigger team overall than last year's team. And I will go as far as to say that this will be a better shooting team as well.

  6. Haven't been impressed with a single 12th region official this season. These guys are all bad in my book. Our region used to be known for some of the best officiating in the state, amazing what a few years and lack of effort can do. I'll give em one thing tho, they're consistent... Consistently terrible!

I'm probably one of the few people that look forward to the outta region refs come tourney time, just so I don't have to see the same ones making the same dumb calls. *drops mic*

  7. Rebs had 4 pt lead at one time in the 4th Q. Had a chance to tie the game at 67 with 20 seconds left, but failed to convert. Officials were mediocre at best, seems to be the standard amongst the 5th region. DJ White and Max Reyes both fouled out early in the 4th.

Overall I'm pleased with the Rebs play as of late. They seem to be clicking pretty well as a team, and their defense has gotten significantly better.
