  1. As I speak, I am watching the replay of Beechwood vs NewCatch. Theyre running backs are good, definitely there biggest strengths. They are quick out of the backfield and run hard. I think there QB is suspect. Doesnt seem to be accurate on anything farther than 15 yards. Im not too sure about how much Beechwood has thrown the ball in the past so maybe thats why they hold him high in comparison to past QBs because he throws it more. Another thing I am noticing often. NewCath just looks sloppy. Lots of blown assignments bad tackling ect.. This is a rivalry game, right? Maybe thats the reason for the bad play (IMO) from them.

Again, everything is my OPINION. I just wanted to get a quick eye test and see for myself some game film. Do they look like something Mayfield cant handle? Not at all.

  2. Still wanting to know if there is any chance this game could be broadcast live online. Also, any radio stations covering the game friday please tell. I work at a radio station myself so Ill be on the Mic Friday night missing the game unfortunately, so I NEED a way to stay in touch with whats going on. Ill definitely be throwing cheers for western kentucky over the air waves though.. Especially the Cards!

  3. Mayfield is the best in Class A Toothpick, that is true as it gets. But I dont recall even mentioning Mayfield. I was asked to back up my opinions by a Raceland alum. I was at the finals last year and saw it with my own eyes. Personally, I dont think anyone in the East bracket can beat Mayfield, but I dont think they will cancel the game cause of Mayfield's SEC schedule. Good Luck to All Class A programs this weekend.

Well said. So by show of likes, how many of you are ready for Mayfield to leave 1A for good? I know Beechwood has got to be.

  4. Well played ATL. I can only speak on what I've seen or know. And i know little of football east of Bowling Green. Guess more respect that way is deserved.

With that being said, I do feel like teams freaking play the games of their lives when it's against Mayfield. So maybe that's why I am praising them so much. That night, they were unbelievable. So maybe I can retract my previous thought to this:

IMO I don't think we will play any team the rest of the year, championship or not, that was as impressive or good as McCracken was THAT NIGHT.

I hope that's not too farfetched for anyone.

  5. I would argue that 1A Hazard, 2A Pburg, and 3A Belfry is as impressive if not more than 6A Marshall County, 6A McCracken County, and 5A Graves County.

Ridiculous. No way those schools are close to McCracken. Marshall just isn't good at all. I may agree with you on Graves. Playing Graves helps with physicality. They produce the biggest team we deal with yearly.

  6. Does Pikeville schedule any teams greater than 3A or no? I'm looking at their schedule and they have none. I find it hard for them to build a case for being more deserving of the #1 spot than Mayfield when the ONLY time mayfield would even dare play a 1A team is when they have to in district play. Graves County, Paducah Tilghman, freaking McCracken County or Caldwell County which remains for a Halloween showdown. That's 2 6A a 3A and arguably the best team in 2A. OR you can play sub par 1A and 2A teams and weak bottom of the barrel 3A teams like Sheldon Clark (1-7). You want to be the best, at least try and play the best. From the outside looking in that schedule seems weak, switch places we would be 7-0 and I'd bet they would be 4-3 if that.

  7. Guys it's about match ups and attacking the other team. Frankfort now will not be Frankfort in November. Starting to get healthy should be back at 95% next week at Paris.

This week they are in a final tune up game designed for BW. After that it is planning for playoffs next 4 weeks. Frankfort treats first 6 games like scrimmages. (I am sure others do to) still want to win but it's a marathon not a sprint.

    Like scrimmages? Elaborate

  8. We definitely don't have a typical mayfield team on the field this year. Our qb is young, short(hurts a lot), and doesn't read defenses well when passing. Our receivers are slower than past years. We have no real deep threat. Defense is still pretty good though still a little iffy in the secondary. Front 7 are legit. I do believe we will at least make it to state pretty easily. But my real fear is moving up to 2A next year. Our dominating days could be over for a while if we don't improve sufficiently. People need to grow up on the field and we need more speed out there.
