  1. I wouldn't say that it's a "bad" school tournament. There were three All A participants this year who made it to the state tournament. The different levels of play in the All A are pretty similar to what you see in the state. You have the powers and you have the schools that aren't so great and the game results show it. As a parent who has had daughters play in the All A and the state tournament, I can say that you have small schools in the All A that, if located in other districts or regions, would be in the state each year--and would do well. Having said that, and having seen some of the teams represented in the Class all state team, I'd have put the two St. Henry players higher up as well.
  2. NDA did have a great season. I was impressed by the heart and determination that they showed on the floor in all of the matches I witnessed this year. This weekend showcased high school volleyball at its best. I knew in my heart that the final was going to go five. You had two teams that had come so close in previous years only to lose by the slimmest of margins. I know how hard it is to sit there in the gym after losing. I can say that the coaching staff and players for NDA were the epitome of class during and after the game. That can't always be said for everyone unfortunately, but in their case it was. They lost, but they played as a team and left everything they had on that court. It is a shame that someone has to lose a game like that, but I can say that they walked out of that gym as winners and I fully expect them to be back there next season.
  3. I don't think anyone will stop them again next year. However, nothing is ever certain that's why you play the games. Looking forward to next year, I believe that, at the end of the day, it will be NDA and Sacred Heart playing for the title. Assumption and Mercy seem to relate each year, especially Assumption, but both teams are losing the heart of their teams for the past several years. They will be good, but I feel the other two will be better.
  4. Mercy defeats North Oldham 3-0. 25-11, 25-16, 25-16. Southwestern and South Warren close the day next.
  5. Christian County defeats Corbin 28-26, 25-17, 25-17. Mercy and North Oldham warming up.
  6. Scott defeats Raceland 3-0 25-12, 25-11, 25-8. Corbin and Christian County just starting.
  7. NDA wins 25-23 in the 4tg set and takes the win 3-1 over SH. Good game by both teams. Congrats to the Pandas.
  8. NDA cut down on the errors but three in a row cut their lead. 22-20 NDA
  9. SH shot out to an early lead but NDA cut the margin. Tied it up at 16 all. NDA now leads 19-16.
  10. They've lost that composure in the third set. Attack and ball handling errors are killing them right now. 18-13 SH now.
  11. McCracken takes the third game 25-8. Dunbar and Green County up next.
  12. It's regions--can't have any seeding in a tournament, can we? Owensboro Carholic wins the first match of the day over Allen Central 3-1 25-20, 18-25, 25-17, 25-8. McCracken and Letcher just finished second game--McCracken up 2-0. 25-7, 25-8.
  13. The state tournament opens tomorrow morning at 9:30AM with Allen Central facing Owensboro Catholic--glad I'm not having to get up that early for the game. What are your predictions for the teams that will make it past the first round? Here are the matches tomorrow with my picks marked. 1 McCracken County ✅ 14 Letcher County Central 9 Notre Dame ✅ 7 Sacred Heart 15 Allen Central 3 Owensboro Catholic ✅ 5 Green County 11 Paul Laurence Dunbar ✅ 13 Corbin 2 Christian County ✅ 10 Scott ✅ 16 Raceland 6 Mercy ✅ 8 North Oldham 12 Southwestern 4 South Warren ✅
  14. Sacred Heart takes the third and final set and defeats Assumption 3-0. SH will go on to the 7th region final tomorrow night.
  15. Sacred Heart shoots out to a 7-2 lead. Assumption slowly climbs out of the hole to tie it at 14 all. Assumption now leads 18-16 in third set.
  16. Sacred Heart takes second set 25-20. Now leads 2-0. Interestingly enough, they said there's only about 300 people there for this match. People here absolutely seem to hate driving to Valley HS and Mercy and Assumption are playing for the state field hockey title at Bellarmine right now.
  17. Assumption takes a 6-2 lead in second set. SH rallies to take a 9-8 lead. SH now leads 14-12.
  18. After going back and forth throughout the game. Sacred Heart takes the first set from Assumption 25-22. Sacred Heart was blocking strong and their setter Zweibel had a terrific first game. Elpers was playing for Assumption and had three kills early.
  19. Ok. Apparently i don't know how to post a link but it's on their facebook page/main page.
