  1. I understand that. I hear Brossart's gym looks nice. However BBHS and their gym has nothing to do with this thread. The game was between NewCath and Campbell County, not Brossart.

It matters in the sense of NCC's future, which was brought up. If you are an 8th grade girl, which gym would you rather practice in every day? AC or no AC? These teams start practicing in July I think so it's more than a minor inconvenience. Holy Cross currently in a pledge drive to AC their gym. If similar sized schools all get AC and you don't have it, I would think that puts you at a disadvantage moving forward if their are school choices to be made.

  2. I guess I'm saying, give them a break and boost their confidence as opposed to always comparing to NDA who had 600 girls+ in the school. For a SMALL school, that's not bad and looks to be a bright future.

Yes, agree with all that, but to be fair NCC has lost to Beechwood the last 2 years in a row in the All-A and Beechwood isn't exactly a big school, and it's public no less. And there's also St. Henry. But for their size, NCC is very good vs most.

  3. I am back! Could not wait to talk to you boys! Looking forward to CCH vs. Cooper. Look forward to finding Groin Pull in the crowd and introducing myself. Missed you boys!

Thank goodness you are back! What happened to the last thread? Please start your own thread called "Ask Nut meg"

  4. It's a general statement & not an argument. This list of teams could change from game to game as to who plays 110%. I believe that there are some (not all) players on the 3 teams mentioned that feel they are above their peers on the court solely because they attend the school & made the team. I saw it firsthand in club season. A whole new 1s team was created because players that didn't make a 1s team at another club & missed tryout/invites for this club demanded they be on a 1s team because they played Varsity for a top school!! For those players that made the team but didn't attend those schools were made to feel inferior even though they were/are fundamentally better players!! It is an elitist mentality that is fueled by people insisting other NKY teams & players can't possibly be on the same level year after year!! Same family left one top school & transferred to another top school after not making the 1st school's team!! Again it was after tryouts so they were given a "private" tryout & placed on the team!! This is a perfect example of a player out for individual glory & not for the sake of the team!! Schools loaded with talent have issues from time to time with who's getting more sets & other individual type glory. From what I've seen, Cooper doesn't have that issue or at least doesn't show signs of that being an issue.

I would love to see the blinders yanked off some people & IMO this year Cooper has the best shot of doing just that!!

I am also not a fan of playing down to a team. No one wants to lose in a blowout situation, but for the amount of time & energy these ladies put into practice, they deserve to be respected & not turned into a charity case or not worthy of playing an "A" team!!!

My quick take on your post....parents are usually the cause between switching clubs and the angst of not making a team, not the players....I seriously doubt that any of the coaches at St.Henry, NDA, or Ryle are going to let anything that happens during club season influence their team - they are going to play who they want to play....I can't think of any team that's not planning on playing their starters against Cooper. Cooper is a very good team and I haven't seen anyone say otherwise...you keep mentioning Cooper deserves respect because the girls have been working hard - again, the girls on other teams don't work hard???? You seem to think that St.Henry, NDA, and Ryle are teams with star players out for themselves and not willing to work hard and sacrifice for the team. You are entitled to your opinion, but I think you may get proven wrong.....as far as respect, I've found that respect can't be demanded or deserved, it has to be earned.

  5. I've seen NDA play their "B" team against teams like Brossart or Boone & while some may say that is to save key players from injury, I say its bull!! Every Varsity team knows they will win or lose & if I'm coaching a school that in reality doesn't stand a chance of winning, I don't want pity. These girls put way too much time & energy in practice for that stuff. I've seen St.Henry do the same.

So in games that are complete mismatches you want the starters to stay in the whole time and destroy teams 25-3. I would bet most would disagree with you.

Every player for Cooper that has their feet on the court isn't gonna let a ball drop anywhere near them because they are winning by 10 & it doesn't matter. They go 110% the entire night no matter what the scoreboard shows. So that is what I mean by Cooper will claw, scrap, & dive never giving up!!!

That's great... but again, list the teams that don't play like this.

  6. I think Cooper is a "team" & not a just a one player show.

past Ryle's headliners what do they have?

I agree totally that good teams who play together win matches. But you are implying now a couple of times that St.Henry, Ryle, and NDA are full of individual stars and not capable of playing like a team like you feel Cooper does.

  7. Cooper has more than just Smith's hitting. They have other talented players that come together & play as a team to win!!

Names? And doesn't every traditional 9th Region favorite team?

They aren't playing for the individual glory or spotlight.

Are your saying players at St. Henry, NDA, or Ryle are?

Teams playing Cooper need to go into the game knowing that Cooper will claw, fight, scrap & never give up on the ball!!

Care to list the traditional 9th Region favorite teams that do give up?

IMO, you haven't listed a single reason why Cooper will topple St. Henry, NDA, or Ryle.

  8. You should know by now that One thing Glyde and Covington Catholic Higj school DON'T have in common is at least the school has class.

I thought it was pretty classy u posted that twice. PM me exactly what you find classless. Puzzled why you are bringing CCH into this.

  9. I'm allowed to be "jacked up". I think it's a "ridiculous" notion to play a football game at 10am, and it appears that I'm not the only one. I don't know a person on the team, but I think it's unfair to the kids on both teams, and looks like others would think the same. CovCath will make more money playing it at 10am then they would moving it to Boone County, wouldn't they? Nah, of course not, couldn't be that.

Tell me any school in America (high school, college, prep school, anyone) that plays a varsity, or above, game at 10am and I will let it go.

    You're welcome, BGP.

At least 2 KHSAA State Championship games each year have started at 11am as far back as I care to look. Last year it was 2A and 1A.

I feel bad that Mayfield had to play the 1A championship at such an early time, it really hurt their performance. Those poor players, half asleep, not at peak energy, they only won 42-0. They really got screwed by not playing at 7pm.

Yea, I heard a rumor that Bell County was going to move all their games to 10am. Quite a trend has been started. I also heard earlier games reduce the chance of concussions, sprained ankles and sunburn. Also, morning games come with unicorns and rainbows. Kumbaya, my Lord, Kum-ba-ya..................

In a related story: Belfry is going to start wearing their pants backwards, look for this to become a trend around the state.

Well, now we know what your word is worth.

  10. Tell me any school in America (high school, college, prep school, anyone) that plays a varsity, or above, game at 10am and I will let it go.
