  1. After watching my Lady Eagles play both NDA and Ryle I can with confidence say it is Ryle's to lose. That said after spotting Ryle 8 pts. In the first game the Lady Eagles battled the Lady Raiders point for point taking game 2, coming from behind in game 3 to take the lead only to let it slip at the end. Game 4 Scott jumped out to a 16 - 8 lead only to open the door back up on a few back to back serve/receive errors which Ryle took full advantage.

Are you saying if Ryle didn't have their injured player they would have swept Scott defeating them even worse than NDA did? Didn't NDA sweep Scott 25-18, 25-8, 25-16, with Scott never having the lead?

  2. Is there some other Big 10 loss that happened which helps the Big 10 stinks argument?

You mean other than Central Michigan killing Purdue at Purdue and Northern Illinois beating Northwestern for the first time ever - also another home loss for Northwestern....

Plus Iowa, Illinois, and Maryland barely winning....Plus the previously mentioned big 3 all losing.

Wisconsin should win the Big Ten now, but what a hollow championship it will be.

  3. Technically - there's no rule against yelling/noisemaking during a serve - and that applies to players, coaches, the bench, and fans. Obviously, you can't bring in air horns or whistles or anything that is already banned, and you can't yell expletives or personal insults directed at the team or one player.

But then there's the good old catch all - the "unsportsmanlike behavior" clause, subject to interpretation by officials. If an official thinks it's too much, they will envoke that clause. But the point of "too much" is going to vary. The bottom line is you can make noise, as long as it's clean and not out of control in the officials' eyes. That threshold will vary.

  4. Losing 2 straight to Scott kind of takes the shine off of Conner pushing Ryle a little bit.

I think there's a logjam of teams in the middle of the pack that are hard to get a read on becuase they all play each other and there's no one team dominating . . .

    Conner

    Highlands

    Simon Kenton

    Scott

    Campbell County

    NCC ?

    Brossart ?

  5. I think we have to wait and see if this is Campbell County on the rise, or, Highlands in decline.

I think CC has to win a game first

    Highlands 23 Campbell County 16 - 2014

    Highlands 50 Campbell County 8 - 2013

    Highlands 44 Campbell County 0 - 2004

    Highlands 35 Campbell County 7 - 2003

    Highlands 62 Campbell County 7 - 2002

    Highlands 42 Campbell County 0 - 2001

    Highlands 41 Campbell County 14 - 2000

    Highlands 57 Campbell County 20 - 1999

    Highlands 88 Campbell County 12 - 1998

  6. KHSAA allows middle school players to try out because some schools need the younger players to "supplement numbers" so they have enough to field a team. Supplement.

You are completely dead wrong. Nowhere in KHSAA Bylaw 4, Section 3 is the word "supplement" used. Those are your words.

Why not just bring in entire middle school aged club teams and call them a HS team and not let any HS students even try out?

Because it would be hard to find an opponent that would let them get on the field under the current regulations for soccer.

  7. If they do NOT cut HS students and have middle school students on the team, then the coach has the right to put his best team on the field.....if that means a HS sits while a middle schoolers play...so be it.....BUT....and those that know me, it is a big BUT....if you cut one HS player, that means you do not need middle schoolers to give you numbers to field a V or JV team and they should not be allowed.......

You're saying a player has the right to be on a team just because they are an upperclassmen, and the coach shouldn't keep middle schoolers and cut upperclassmen even if said coach thinks the middle schoolers are better players and can help the team. Interesting. I never saw a spot on a roster as a right.

  8. They are going to have to work for it and fight for it and from what I saw tonight, they are going to get their butts handed to them by the likes of NDA and Ryle unless they decide to play hard and as a unit.

Cooper has more than just Smith's hitting. They have other talented players that come together & play as a team to win!!

Cooper needs to be seen as a threat for NDA, St.Henry & Ryle.

I think you 2 need to get your stories straight.

  9. 25-19, 25-18, 25-19. Nice team win by St. Henry over the team some on BGP say is the team to watch in the 9th. Let's review:

This definitely could be the year that a team other than NDA wins the 9th.

Cooper is the team to watch!!

can't wait to watch the Cooper/Ryle game!!!

I think you overlooked at least one match before then....

I think Cooper will beat St. Henry

    Cooper beats St. Henry

Cooper needs to be seen as a threat for NDA, St.Henry & Ryle.

    you have 2 left

Coach of the Year, too....Cooper's Michelle Isaac!!!

    After 2 weeks?

I don't think St. Henry has what they need as a whole this year

    Had enough to sweep Cooper

I will though make it my mission to point out those names of players on other teams besides NDA, Ryle & St. Henry, just to give them the credit they deserve!!!

So players from those 3 schools don't deserve credit because they consistently win matches?

After losing in 5 sets at regionals to St. Henry last year after leading the match 2-1, the jags have some motivation to work St. Henry on Thursday.

I'll stick with Ryle, NDA, St Henry to win the 9th. Really going out on a limb.

  10. I disagree AC is not a factor. It's not at the top of the list, and there are many more important factors, but if it's not a factor then why did BBHS just put it in and why is HC doing a pledge drive now to get it? As the last 2 posts show, it's quite disruptive not having it.

and basketball is a winter sport - not really a factor then unless you want to ice the shooter.

  11. Oh good Lord. Anyone want to make a prediction if this game will get to finish? I guess we could start calling them the "Half-Contest Colonels".

    For those wishing to attend:

Pep Rally: 5am in the gymnasium. Please bring a flashlight, because there are no lights in the gymnasium.

Tailgate: 7am in the parking lot. Please bring a flashlight, once again no lights.

Kickoff: 9:30am. Again, flashlights, expecting fog.

Come on Ram, this is all u got? This week's game is even earlier than last week, and last week u went on a 7 page rant on why starting a Varsity game anytime the time ends with "am" is a crime against football. You getting used to it now?

  12. I think they will beat NCC, Scott & Campbell Co. It's possible to beat Ryle, NDA & Cooper but they need to have a strong hitting game with very little errors especially serving!! Coach Atwood will have them ready no doubt!!

I just remember seeing somewhere that last year was supposed to be SK's year, they were all set up to win the Region at home and then got upset in the semi's. Last year SK lost to Ryle, Cooper, NDA, beat NCC, spilt with Scott, and went 2-1 against Camels. I don't see how they are going to improve on that against those teams this year. But playing them will make SK better when it's time to play teams in the 8th.
