  1. I think a C is too low. Gotta remember that Etown was starting almost all juniors on both sides of the ball. Only 3 senior starters and one of them was hurt a large portion of the year. As Nathaniel said, Adair was picked as the team to beat and Etown rolled them. They started off the season a little rough but once Coach Brown and his staff got them to gel they put it all together and were a couple of plays away from playing at WKU. Gotta remember that these kids had almost no game experience because of the heavy senior class that preceded them. I'd give them a B+

  2. I believe he is going to be a husband, dad, and relax. I am sure he will take some time to enjoy his summer and he will miss it come the first Friday night game.

And probably join the other know it alls that have been telling him what he should be doing in the stands.. so then they can tell him to his face now.

Coach- thanks for being a positive influence

I've heard the same. Good luck to Coach Lewis.

  3. Don't sleep on the Elizabethtown Panthers. Had a chance to win at Louisville Central last season in the State Semi's. Lost a total of 5 seniors with only 3 of those getting significant playing time. Their senior class for the upcoming season is loaded and gained tons of experience last year. All of their skill players return. 80% of their defense returns and I expect them to get some nice contributions from a few members of the incoming sophomore class as well. The incoming freshman class is fresh off an undefeated state championship. The future is bright for the Panthers.

  4. I have always had a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Scroggins and what he has done with the Central program. After the Etown game last week my respect for them only increased. Their fans, coaches and players were nothing but respectful after the game. With that said, I do believe Belfry may run away with this one. Central didn't hurt Etown with the run game. Even with their speed Etown was able to contain them for the most part. They hit us with 3 bombs where they just went up and got the ball over our corner's. If Belfry can keep that from happening then I think they will be successful. Etown also had some problems moving the ball especially in the run game. I don't expect that to be an issue for the Pirates. Good luck to both teams. Wish my Panthers were in this game. I'll take Belfry 35-14

  5. So essentially the offense is being rewarded for committing a foul. I guess this is just one of the few loopholes that can be found in each sport. I mean if you see the film, once Plainfield saw a flag they were excited (like me, you and everyone else) thinking "well heck yes now we will get a chance to score".

If the officials never have been in this situation then I guess I could see them

Assuming like the rest of us. Doesn't make it right though. I wonder how long it took until both teams realized their was a mistake made? Time fram after the game? This could be on the HC from Fenwick for not knowing the rules (assuming he didn't call TO and confront the official). I wonder what was said at the coin toss for OT? Anyone in the stands try to get word the coaches? The guys on the broadcast sure seemed to believe it would be an untimed down. Crazy crazy

Wouldn't have mattered if the HC knew the rule. You aren't going to change the officials minds once they believe they are correct. You could pull the rules out and show them in black and white and it wouldn't matter. In most cases once an official has made a call they aren't backing off that call no matter what is said. Unfortunately it is a pride thing. That is more important than getting the call right.

  6. I find it amazing that In a game where you have 5 officials, one of them doesn't step in and say, "Hey guys, this isn't right." All an official ever wants to tell a coach is read the rules however I've seen at least two situations this year where a rule interpretation was completely wrong and none of the 5 got it right. After the games were over and other officials were brought in to talk about the call, they found out they were wrong. The biggest issue with most officials is that they think they are infalable and couldn't possibly be incorrect on a rule or call. The IHSAA needs to get this right.

  7. Etown will definitely have it's hands full. I will say this, these kids have no quit in them. After starting the season 2-3 they have reeled off 8 straight wins in pretty dominating fashion. To get this win they will have to play a nearly perfect game and get a little help from Central in the turnover dept. The good news for Etown is that no one except those inside the program expected them to be here. Only 3 of their starters are Seniors. The Junior class is loaded and they have a freshman group that went to the final four as 8th graders and their current 8th grade group just won the state championship. Whatever happens on Friday night the Panthers have a bright future.

  8. Been bothering me since Friday night....

Last year the South Warren Spartans gave their fans the ultimate. A State Championship that crowned a perfect 15-0 season. It does not get any better. 2016 the fans saw their team fight through more injuries and adversity than I remember any team dealing with. In spite of this the Spartans went to the Regional Finals and ended with a 9-4 record.

As the clock ticked down to zero Friday night the SW fans vanished like smoke in a hurricane. Students left, adults left. No stand and applaud the guys for their effort, no on field support post game. These are 15-18 year old kids out there that just had their season end. If you have ever competed, really competed, you know that losing hurts worse than winning feels good. That is when a team and the individuals that make up the team need support, some encouragement, some thank yous for a great effort and great season. It is all part of building a program.

But...this is just an old guy talking.

Couldn't have said it any better. It is amazing how quickly fans, parents etc will turn on Coaches and players even at the high school level. Last year was magical for SW. To not only win the State Championship but to go undefeated and do it in such a dominating fashion doesn't happen very often. However, people have to realize that it's not going to be like that every year. Talent changes, opponents change etc...Doesn't mean those Coaches no longer know how to coach or that the kids didn't give it everything they had. A LOT of things have to go right to win a state championship. Trust me, that loss Friday night will hurt and stick with them a lot longer than even the state championship win.

  9. The KHSAA doesn't have a rule about you moving to a better "opportunity".

Nope. They sure don't. Wouldn't matter if they did because they don't apply the rules they have across the board equally anyways. Tell me how they prove that a kid who moved into a school's district did so for athletic purposes. SW has some of the highest test scores in the area. Maybe he moved because of that. Maybe his parents found a house they liked and wanted to buy. Who knows. However the Reynolds kid gets on an interview and openly says he went to Greenwood because he wanted to win and nothing happens.

  10. I'm of the opinion that all who transferred should sit out a year, unless they moved to the school district they want to play in. Life is not always fair. You can't run away from some things. If they were really team players, they would have stayed with the program. JMO.

Ford did move. Maybe some of the others did as well. Easy to say, stay and be a team player but their admin put them in a terrible situation. If you were at a job and had 4 different bosses over 4 years and the environment wasn't good would you stick around and be unhappy just to be a team player or take an opportunity at a new job in a new town if possible?

  11. How many of the other kids you mentioned, actually moved into the district of the school they transferred to? I don't know the answer so I'm asking. Ford did. Maybe the KHSAA should have considered the predicament that Warren Central put these kids in the last 4 years before ruling them ineligible. It's easy to say that they should have just stayed until it is your kid in that situation. And if those other kids did indeed move into the districts they transferred to then they should have been ruled eligible as well. Reynolds became eligible almost immediately. How is his situation different from the others?

  12. Stevenson and RC are completely to blame. 4 coaches in 4 years. Spend millions of dollars on new facilities but fire your coach in the spring leaving the program in more of a tail spin then it already was and yet you want to fight a kid who just wants to play football and get away from the fiasco you created. Shame on Warren Central and the WC Board!

  13. Here's hoping that SW puts up 100 on WC simply for the fact that John Ford has had to miss his senior season. Let's be honest. If Ford had moved and transferred to any school besides SW he would have been eligible immediately. Reynolds that transferred to Greenwood openly admitted that he transferred because he wanted to win in an interview but he was ruled eligible.

  14. Thinking about going to see the undefeated Baby Purples play at John Hardin Thursday night. Should be fun. Nothing to see on the varsity level this week!

Don't think it will be a game. JH freshmen aren't very good. They've been beaten by Central Hardin and Etown this year.

  15. Not saying the outcome changes, but North is a completely different team without their quarterback. Between the injuries from both teams I'm not sure you can take much from this game.

I've seen them play with both QBs and honestly I think their offense is better with the backup QB in. He rolls out of the pocket better, throws the ball better and North seems to run the ball more when's he is in the game, even going under center. Bankhead is good but I think they become 1 dimentional with him.

  16. The games between John, Central, North, Etown are all considered rivalry games. It's no surprise to me that there are more penalties in these games especially the personal foul/late hit variety. The kids and coaches are pumped up for these games for bragging rights in the area. I would also think that the officials have a bit more of a hair trigger in these games to prevent them from getting out of control early.
