  1. Good win for East especially with two starters out...( Reece Watson & Sean Johnson) Yes Feltner for Collins hit every three down the stretch including one off the backboard. Fort was also a bull down low for Collins...

East had 5 players in double digits. But this game was controlled by PG Luke Ezell who dictated the tempo, leading scorer with 23 pts, and which seemed like a countless number of assist...( many in a flashy manner.) A good 2 game response for the Chargers after the Fern Creek debacle.

  2. This is a crazy region. I watch a ton of Louisville basketball and to think Desales is #9 (not arguing as Southern loss is not a great one) is still very capable of making a deep regional tourney run is crazy. Fern Creek is seemingly struggling to close games out but I wouldn't want to see them when it matters most. I was super impressed with Doss in seeing them in the semis and finals of the LIT. Calloway and Franklin can beat anyone if they are hot. The district with Butler, Doss, Desales, Iroquois, and Western is very interesting. Don't think Iroquois and Western stand any chance, although Iroquois has played them close, but Butler, Doss and Desales are all good enough to win half the regions in the state--yet one of them won't even make it out of their district. Crazy

Agree...The 22nd district will be a dog fight, has to be one of the toughest in the state.

  3. Entering the season my thoughts were that it was Fern Creek and then everyone else. This region has leveled out in a big way...( I would be very challenged to rank this region at present time)

I agree that Desales is on the rise, they have an all around solid squad...Then they go down to Southern by 8 pts last night...Go figure? I suppose its just part of the script this year..."May the shuffling continue!"

  4. My thoughts going into this game, is that Fern Creek would simply overpower BE, or atleast sort of glide to a comfy win. But what came to fruition was the one advantage that East has...The most valued player on the court is the point guard! And East has maybe the most underrated PG in the state. Luke Ezell controlled this game when the ball was in his hands, you can see there is a different feel when he has possession. Keep your eye on this kid!

  5. Totally agree, East is practically missing they're whole front line...( 3 of the top 4 ) The Bryan Station game was just one of those nights, while missing all the bigs, add in they could not throw it in the ocean, and it just avalanched. But to come out the next game still down the same three players and to somewhat handily beat a good CAL team on the road, shows their worth. If East is healthy by district time, then you could put them in the 2 or 3 slot.

  6. A great learning experience for East, always a plus to gauge a team's progress, by facing higher competition. Due to injuries - etc., this is the first time all season that East had its full compliment of players. And yes they do have one of the better backcourts around. Add in the continual improvement of Polson & Donnigan up front, and East will be a tough out in the 6th.

  7. Congrats to Tony Williams and his team. Caused East lots of problems with an ever changing array of zone defenses to slow Tyler Sharpe. They mixed in a very aggressive man to man defense in the second half and built a 12 point lead. East fell in love with the three ball, settling for tough perimeter shots at times. Doss is a versatile team and will be a tough out at Rupp.

Sheriff, I couldn't have explained it any better...nuff said!

  8. Three highlighted factors pop out to me in this impressive win...

    1) Bringing Konner Polson off the bench - This gives East a high quality frontline player with size. This is a kid who seems to play better in this role, plus protects him from early foul trouble, which he seems to be more prone too when starting.

    2) No wholesale substitutions - I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is of high subsaquence, keeping a good flow. You cannot give the opposition a level of confidence that can change the game...Good job by the coaching staff last night!

    3) Jared Farris - The play of this young man is crucial for the success of this team. With his size and skill set - gives the Chargers a presence that few teams in the state have. As I have said all year long, Jared is the "X" factor!

  9. I agree with both of the stated comments above. I also scratch my head over the way East has finished the 2nd half of the season. Fern Creek definitely outplayed the Chargers last night, especially on the boards, they obviously wanted it more!

I hate being repetitive, but I also scratch my head over the mass substitution pattern by the BE coaching staff...I shall say one more time...U "cannot" have 3 to 4 subs in at the same time for an extended period of time against this type of competition.

    A) U will give up a big run

    B) U will give up the flow of the game

    C) U have just handed your opponent confidence with an added edge.
