Jerry Allen can teach and coach the game. Its a great hire for HC.
-
What time does the festivities start?
-
That's definitely something to be proud of. Good looking crew right there, lamontab.
Now they're off to college this summer... Mission accomplished.

Good points, I can't understand Barnes lack of interest in scoring, you are correct about last year, he took over in stretches, I still don't understand why everyone on here gives Williams a pass though, he is rarely mentioned and I think he was a major disappointment all year and cost them several games when things got tight
Wow you think Barnes cost HC games? I see you critique the seniors but neither Schrand.
-
Comical....he hangs with the #8 team in the state with a very average team and he is a horrible coach. You should take the job next year lamontab. I will wait and see how many district titles you win the next 5 years...good luck!
The funny thing is if I did have that job the players would have given me everything they had every time they stepped on the court...

I've never said HC was a bad team. I think they were under served by their head coach. Last years team won in spite of the coach. Tyler Bezold has such a high bball IQ it was like having a coach on the floor, the defacto team leader.
-
Some people like to think they are a better coach than the head coach and have all the answers.
I'm guilty of that. I think he's a horrible head coach, always have because he's never proven me wrong.

You'd be hard pressed to find a game where Kunkel and McNeil were locked down.
HC played about 2.75 quarters of the game they wanted to play, that is, deliberate.
When Cooper really turned up the pressure defense with Hendrix, C. McNeil and Kunkel at the top of that aggressive press, the Tribe really had no answer.
You can place blame wherever you choose, but Cooper was opportunistic on both ends and HC couldn't make them pay for their mistakes at a high enough frequency.
I've been a fan of S. McNeill since he was in the 8th grade. My point was HC doesn't play good D because the head coach doesn't make it a priority.
-
It appeared to me that the perimeter defense for HC was lacking most of the night, even more so in the 4th quarter.
That was a common occurrence this year. The head coach doesn't put much stock in playing lock down D.
-
He looked gased at the end, sweat pouring from his head. He definitely played his "donkey" off at both ends.
He was gassed playing out of position all year. I look forward to checking him out on the AAU circuit
-
They have been friends since they were 7 and like family since middle school. I can't wait to see what the future brings for these 2.
-
Good luck to him, I hope he finds what he is looking for. What other options is he considering?
EKU seemed to have stepped up their game with in state recruits. I'm curious, where did they blow it with your son? What sucked about the visit?
EKU offered a PWO before the visit, but once we arrived on campus no one engaged him on the visit so it was like he was just on a campus tour. Now keep in mind all the other recruits where being engaged, so it bothered the big fella that no one had anything to say to him.
Offers from Ky State, U of Indy, GTown, UPike, KCU, CCU, Tiffin and some new contacts this week.
-
Where did he end up?
He hasn't committed to anywhere yet.
-
HC played inspired D... It was good team win.
-
Glad to hear it. Xavier plays some tough football...he deserves to have some options on the college level.
Thank You, he has always tried to be the best player & teammate he can be.
-
Our recruiting visit sucked they didn't do a very good job recruiting my son. He was looking forward to that visit. He was hoping to find a home there.
-
Thanks for the input. Any word on whether or not Abernathy is looking to sign anywhere for college?
He's waiting to make the best decision for him... He has options.
-
247 sports also has Barnes' hometown as Louisville. I wonder why there is so much confusion.
There is a Holy Cross High School in Louisville also...
-
Nope. Abernathy grew up in Covington. Played his whole youth football career in the Bengal Tiger organization.
Abernathy is from Cincy lived in both NKY & Cincy but played his peewee ball in Cincy until the 7th grade where he played @ HC then he played for the BT in the 8th grade. They played against each other in peewee ball but didn't know each other. They became friends thru AAU bball & the rest is Holy Cross history...

How is Derrick Barnes not a 1st team LB for NKY when he's an All State 1st LB for KY?
-
Looks like much needed help is on its way to Latonia.
Heard from a very reliable source that the Wiggins kid from Newport hasn't been at all happy with his lack of playing time there, so he's transferring to Holy Cross and will be immediately eligible to suit up for the Indians in the All 'A' Classic in their game against.. of all teams... Newport.
Go figure.
LMAO :clap::lol2:

Somebody tell me how Marquel Tinsley has 1300+ yards and 21 tds which leads the state as a sophomore while playing 6A football and he doesn't get 1st,2nd or 3rd team all state just honorable mention. I think coaches vote on this, if so those guys have no business voting. Can anyone help with this?
The same reason that Derrick Barnes from Cov Holy Cross ran for 1300+ yards & 19 tds with 11+ yards per carry. Did I fail to mention that he was a 1st team all state LB.
-
When a player isn't playing well the coach can sub them out for a player in hopes that the new player will preform well. When a team is performing poorly the we coaches have to look no further than the mirror.
Covington Holy Cross hires Jerry Allen as girls hoops coach.

Actually if you take NDA out of the equation, it just looks like a good based on his coaching resume.
