Clueless is what I will say, but thanks for keeping track of the stats for us.
Glad you like them. I find them very entertaining, so here are some more for you.
*Your buddy had zero winning seasons as head coach.
*His teams scored a total of 85 goals in 3 seasons.
*His teams allowed a total of 123 goals in 3 seasons.
I guess you and his other Dad friends must see these stats through rose colored glasses if you consider his tenure a success.

What was the greatest comeback you have personally seen in high school football? Please provide details.
-
A pot stirrer asks the question and does not realize how complimentary the statement actually is. Let me take my bag of popcorn over to the girls soccer thread now.
I only stir things up in the soccer thread, and then, only to get your GOAT, JOAT. I can't resist. It is so easy to do since you have your little axe to grind on that forum.
-
I don't speak for all HHS faithful, but thank you for the compliment. Seriously! To me, that is as big a compliment a school, program, community could get. Because only one other team in the State IMO can have the same claim.
No thanks necessary. Contrary to the belief of some, it was meant as a compliment. I have the greatest respect for what Highlands has done and the fantastic reputation it has helped create for Kentucky football. I was asked what rebound meant. In my mind, this is what Highlands should aspire to and what I hope it will achieve. I hope they become that team that the Cincinnati schools have to think twice about scheduling.

Joat, here is what I know. They played well enough to pull out a 2-0 win and even their record at 6-6 for the season. I also know that the current coach now has an overall record of 18-15-1 for a winning percentage of 53%, while his predecessor, your buddy, Tommy, was 19-28-9 for winning total of just 33%. Playing his and your favorites didn't work out so well did it? So how about you tell me how great your bestie was again. Pass that popcorn this way, Pal.

Class move. Very well stated.
-
Jags win! Jags win! Jags win!
-
By rebound, I mean being able to compete with any team in any class in any state.
-
How soon, and how do they do it?
-
The Birds are now 6-6, roughly half way through the season. Does anyone have a first hand account of last evenings game?
-
I suppose- If packing it in on D (pretty much a minimum of 6 back the entire match, even when no pressure), subbing on pretty much every stoppage to disrupt flow, not attempting to mount an offensive attack is getting them ready then, yep, you got that right. Terrible game to watch. Sacred Heart pretty much played keep away the entire match. Coaching staff played it safe. Would have gotten ugly had HHS extended.
So you would have preferred a 5-0 or more game and have them extend the field and attack more? Sure it may not have been the most beautiful game to watch, but a 1-0 game is always within reach. You know how this game works, at any moment an over-matched team can snatch victory or a draw from the jaws of certain defeat. If they are down 5-0 in the 2nd half, that would be painful to watch, in my opinion. What formation do the Birds run, by the way? It seems to me that 6 back is not that unusual if you are running a 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or even 3-4-3. Play to your strength and based on the strengths of your opponent.
-
Ok, back to the game. So it looks like the HHS girls played very well, especially on defense, losing only 1-0. Especially if compared to the last coach's record against Sacred Heart, 0-2, by a combined score of 10-0, it would seem like a vast improvement.

Ok, JOAT. Since you called me out on the last thread before it got closed, I am going to respond here. I agree that taking one season of Mr. Kearns's time at the helm may have been unfair. So let's look at all 3 years, shall we? His 3 year combined record was 19-28-9. That is a winning percentage of 33% This while having some real talent to work with, even some "all district or all region" players, as you have pointed out. So, what do you miss about him so much?
-
Thanks! I saw yours as soon as I posted mine.
-
Close score against a good team. Was anyone there who can fill us in on the action?
-
Everyone keep reaching. Some of these responses are absolutely hysterical.
To which responses do you refer? If it is mine, please tell me where I am reaching.
-
If memory serves, with Mr. Kearns at the helm, and with some very talented players, the team had a terrible season including losing to Notre Dame 3 times by a combined score of 15-2. was there a huge outcry for his head that year? Then again, maybe that is why he is the former coach.

So, you did not say that you don't care that some kids will miss out on being coached by the best? Can you point to where I said that a club coach is better in every case? And FYI,
ton:
/tən/ noun
1. a unit of weight equal to 2,000 pounds avoirdupois (907.19 kg)

You don't read other peoples posts do you? You just post whatever you want regardless of what the other person has said? What are you talking about "weight of coaches? Please use the quote feature and show me where I said a kid can't play for what you say is the best coach? I said that coach shouldn't coach both teams. You are also assuming as fact that the club coach is better and that is not factual in every case.
You said a "ton" of top quality coaches. I said a "lot". So you must be referring to their weight, right? ;0) And if the best coach happens to be a club coach, but you say a club coach should not also coach high school, then some kids will miss out on being coached by the best, right? Finally, please don't assume to know what I assume. I never said that every club coach is better than every school coach, did I?
-
I don't think kids or parents on the Freshman or JV teams should expect the Varsity coach to spend a lot of time with their teams. This is what the freshman and jv coaches are there for. These coaches train and evaluate their teams and then report to the varsity coach, letting them know who the standouts are and who may need additional work to help the team. 3 teams, 1 system.
-
It would be especially beneficial for lesser skilled high school players to be exposed to top quality coaching. Learning from the best is usually not a bad thing.
-
So if the best coaches in the area cannot coach high school, the high school kids do not miss out on something? How does that work? And just to clarify, I never mentioned the weight of the coaches.
-
High school sports and high school kids would benefit if anyone paid money to coach for a high school was not allowed to coach AAU, club, or any other orgainization name.
Kids and schools would be missing out on a lot of top quality coaches. If coaching is their passion and it is what they do for a living, few could make ends meet on just what they are paid for coaching high school sports.

I only bring him up for perspective because JOAT likes to hammer on the current coach and a lot of people are tired of it and ready to move on with the program under the new leadership. My point has been made and it will not be brought up again.
