  1. I think that is ridiculous. There should be an exemption, just like there is for the Hoop Summit. I know its not on that level, but what about next year when you have guys like Goodin and Wright, who could be named to the MacDonalds and Jordan Brand games. They would have to decline the offer then, maybe this is why we continue to lose to Indiana, because they have a deeper talent pool.

  2. Who are some of the top eighth graders from Northern Kentucky? Who do the rockets have? I knew a few kids that played for them several years back. Austin Trentmen, Eric Reigar, Jake Schulte (I believe), Grant Schriver (now plays baseball at UofL), Parker Keller, and I know several other St. Pius kids played for them way back when (Joe Walsburger, Johnny Thiel, Mark Schult, Parker Keller). Who do the shining stars have? They always seem to do a nice job.

  3. Colonels by 10-12, they have a favorable bracket again this year. Ballard, Lexington Catholic, Knott Co and Boyle are all on the other side. Coach Ruthsatz will have them ready come next Wednesday, although Campbell County will not go easy. I thought they played a nice game at Rupp last year, just came up a little short.

Agree to disagree on the favorable bracket aspect. I think they match up nicely with the camels, and whoever may win the second game. However, they don't have the size to match-up with Holman and the rest of the Owensboro squad. Hopkinsville has to much fire power, and Jaqualis Matlock is a monster, who does CCH have to matchup with a 6'6 wing that is a bull? I believe Taylor County in the semis is the best possible scenario. While TC has good guards, I think CCH match ups up with them better than the prior two teams I mentioned. The biggest thing CCH has going for them is they have Ruthsatz as their coach; IMO he is the best coach in the state. However, with all that said they still have to take care of the Camels first and foremost.

  4. Great season for Dixie, not many people believed they were capable of success after losing Hatton. I would just like to say imagine the possibilities if it had not been the Brandon Hatton show for two years prior. Hatton was a special high school player, but if they had developed a team chemistry with him; there is no telling what they could have accomplished. Schreck is a great player that never got the credit he deserved. Also Bolin and Hedger seemed to develop since their freshman year. They grew every year as players. Hats off to those young men. Moreover, Rabe become a good high school player and it was great to see his handwork pay off.

  5. This is hilarious, because Holy Cross hasn't been able to get to region someone needs to move out? That is such an ego centric view and to think that would somehow bring more parity to the 9th region is also laughable. All teams and districts go in cycles, up and down, this district is no different than any other.

That would be like moving some of the Louisville teams out of the 7th region to get more parity at the state tournament. How would you feel about that argument?

Well I don't have a dog in this fight, but a few years ago Holy Cross won the All A state title, and didn't make the regional thats a bummer for those kids. I think they could have made some noise in the regional tournament. Now as far as moving Louisville schools out of the region, no. However, I do think re-districting every few years is beneficial.

  6. Could next year finally be the year Holy Cross returns to the regional tournament? I think so. This district is loaded every year with CCH, Holmes, and Holy Cross. One of them needs to be put in a different district, I think this would make for a more interesting regional tournament. If Holy Cross or CCH were moved into Dixie's district this would allow for more parity in the ninth region as a whole.

  7. The Ville should win it all. I think they could have competed in the Showcase. I think that if the Travelers would have opted to play in the Nationals, like the Ville did, they would have coasted to the championship.... but they chose to play against the tougher competition.

I dont think the Travelers would have coasted to the championship, Wings Elite from Arkansas is in the final four, and they are one of the elite programs in the country. However, I do think they would have a great shot at winning the title. Hopefully, the Ville pulls it out!

  8. First off the field is loaded at the 17u level. In one of the pools you have 3/4 teams from last years final four. The KY Bulldogs play The Ville at 7 Friday night. That will be a highly entertaining match up. Bolin and Hedger get another shot at Hall, and I will tell you something they were not happy about the turnout in December at LexCath.

People may be hyping up several kids, but watch out for Austin Schreck and Stanley. They are two of the top 4 guards in the 2015 class from the ninth.

Moreover, I expect a monster weekend from Hoop Dreams 17u, both teams are very good. They have depth, they have skill, and they have better athletes than most of the teams. Trey Moses is a monster, and his footwork and post moves have come a long way. Timmy Taylor is a great high school point guard, and has a knack for finding guys in the right spot.

I do not think the Travelers 16u team playing up has a chance at the title. Especially considering the former Travelers (Tanner Johnson & Isaiah Collier) in the tournament will have a say before it is all said and done. Moreover, their freshman are not as strong and do not have the size to compete.

In the 16u division I predict a final four of KY Elite, KY Heat, Manimal, and Hoop Dreams. Ky Elite is very athletic, the Heat have the guards and wings. Manimal was oh so close last year to winning it all, and HD has the guard play and one of my favorite players in Malik Dow. I believe Dow has a great opportunity to be a special player. Standing 6'5 and possessing a strong frame he can be a lock down defender, also he can attack the rim like it is nobody's business.

  9. Congrats to Mark, and it has been a joy watching him grow as a player and more importantly young man. I knew he always had it in him, not to knock his brothers who were players in their own right, Mark end up being the best of three. He will go down in CCH lure as one of the heroes of the state tournament. Does anyone know how many points he had in his career. It would be a crying shame if none of the Schult boys scored a 1000 points. The Schult family has good basketball genes.

  10. How does Nike make money off the EYBL? The players don't pay a fee of any kind to play in the EYBL. Nike gives each player a ton of gear for free. Nike pays for the facilities where the events are held. In the contract Nike has with each of the EYBL teams, Nike pays each team big $$$ to cover the substantial cost of transportation, lodging and food for each of the events across the country. The EYBL teams don't pay Nike anything. So, please ask your reliable source exactly how Nike is making money and exactly how will they make more money from Faried?

How does Nike make money of the EYBL? These kids advertise their product, and the kids that play for these teams will hopefully be loyal to Nike if and when they make the league. They are searching for the next big time star in the Eybl, and they hope that since Nike took care of them when they were younger that the kid will sign with them when they leave college.
