Scott won't be run-ruled. Beechwood is not that superior and they have been beaten by Scott before. Lets just let each team's play do the talking rather than making some of the bold statements where the season has shown some very different results in comparison.
Beechwood also beat Scott 12-2 at the beginning of the season. I'm not saying Beechwood will automatically run rule Scott. I'm just saying that if Beechwood plays at their best, they will win. But, if Beechwood doesn't play at their best, which happens often, they could get run-ruled.
I hope to see a 2-1 Scott-Beechwood game.

I made a mistake- Beechwood was without the Freshman class when they faced Ryle. But, I do not know who Ryle had or who they were missing, so saying BW would run-rule them may not be the words i'm looking for.
Rest of this tourny should be fun! Can't wait to see all four of these teams play!
-
They are going to run-rule a team that just beat them 1-0 a week ago? And while Ryle had a very, very good pitcher on the hill that day, he was not even Ryle's #1 overall pitcher. Beechwood, while no doubt a very good team, will not run-rule Ryle (should that matchup occur). But thanks for the corkboard fodder to get the Raiders fired up. :thumb:
I'm not trying to bash anybody, all of these teams have talented kids. Beechwood played terrible against Ryle, and lost 1-0. Beechwood was also was without all of there Sophomores, which made up there 3,4,5 hitters. Heart of their line-up gone and they kept it to a one-run game. And Beechwood also did not pitch an ace.
In no way am i saying Ryle isn't good, i apologize if i came off like that. I'm just saying if Beechwood plays good, and has all their players, it could be a much different game.

Kyle Fieger (Beechwood) is the best jv pitcher I have seen this year.
I would say Fieger is the best JV pitcher i've seen, but he has pitched 8 innings of JV Baseball this year, and they have all come from this tournament. He has been a Varsity pitcher and JV Outfielder. I wouldn't include Fieger in the JV pitcher category.
From what I have seen, I think Ryle's Ziegelmeyer, Dixie's Smallwood, and Beechwood's Hyde have been the best and most efficient pitchers throughout JV Baseball this year.
-
After Beechwood beat Highlands, i'm confident to say that they are the best JV team, not out of the teams left, i think they are overall the best. If they play how they played vs Highlands, they will run rule Scott and Conner/Ryle.
-
Beechwood beats Highlands 3-1
-
Great game from Beechwood, pitcher went all 7 for complete game. Beechwood and Highlands both competed hard the whole game. Tigers get an unexpected win over the team i picked to win it all.
-
I can't answer. I was late getting to the game. I know Beechwood used Hyde and Miller and Feiger closed. Im not sure who pitched for NCC, but when I got there they had just made a pitching change. Ugly game all around. BW will not beat Highlands playing like they did tonight.
Beechwood started Hyde. He pitched well, giving up 4 hits in 4 innings. 3/4 of the hits came in the 4th along with a walk. Miller came out for the 5th and 6th. He threw the 5th well and got hit hard in the 6th. Then Fieger came in to close the 7th. He pitched very well but 2 errors and some questionable calls from the umpire made the game a nail biter.
NCC was slow at first, but turned it on at the end of the game capitalizing on Beechwood mistakes. They played hard till the last out.
Seeing how Beechwood has played the past 5-6 games, they could keep the game close with Highlands, but they won't win.

Highlands JV..................18-6
Cov Cath JV........... .......17-4
Ryle JV...........................21-6
Beechwood JV...............17-5
Boone County JV...........13-6
Any other records or Record corrections?
-
Highlands JV..................18-6
CCH JV..........................17-4
Ryle JV...........................21-6
Beechwood JV...............17-5
There's 4 of the team records this year, what are some other teams records?
-
Beechwood pitcher was Junior Miller. Great throwing by Smith and Miller. Hitting was rare for Beechwood as Smith held them to 3 hits and 0 runs!
-
I had the score right.
(OK. I may have said it was final but....I was working with bad info.)
Nailed this one though.
I think Clyde's doing a fine job
-
Freshman Sherron? Thats not one of the names I've heard. Good lord, what a class of 2016 they are grooming.
Beechwood's going to be a pretty special team in years to come with that 2016 class
-
Forgot, Beechwood lost to Campbell twice too. I'd say
1. Highlands
2. Cov Cath
3. Campbell
4. Ryle
5. Beechwood
-
Not sure of Campbell's record but don't count them out with Eblin or Dawn on the mound 1 game anyone can win.
HHS JV 18-6 on the year
Ryle JV 21-6
CCH JV 17-4
any others?
Beechwood is 17-5
They lost to Ryle and Cov Cath, but, in there defense they only lost to Ryle 1-0, and went into the 7th vs Cov Cath with a lead. I stand by my opinion though saying Highlands is the best.
Only the tournament can tell!!

This was a good game for St Henry to stay in there with arguably the best JV team this year
-
Boone got on top early, with 3 in the first and 1in the second. Beechwood pitcher was Sophomore Hyde. I think 2 runs were earned 2 were not. Beechwood Freshman Sherron hit a solo home run to left center. Tigers got 7 runs in the last few innings. Hyde finished all 7 innings with a complete game win.
-
Is Fieger getting varsity time or playing JV?
Fieger has not been to JV yet this year (for all i know) and it doesn't seem like he's playing a lot at varsity. Im pretty sure He's mostly relieving
-
I was at the varsity cch- bw game, but from what i'm told by a cov cath parent, the Beechwood players were crushed after the loss
-
Good game. Cov Cath pitcher Ben Heppler with the complete game.
-
Cov Cath gto two runs in the 7th. Fun game to watch. Both teams played great, Beechwood pitcher did well.
-
This is a game thread specific to the New Cath game, not a synopsis of the season. Suchanek has been identified as one of the stars of it. The others? Something you would like to discuss about their performance in this game?
I'm sorry, that's just one thing that has been bugging me, I did not think it was worthy of a new thread. I got it all out

I really think you and I are in agreement. The pitchers have pitched well. Schumann against Conner was especially strong. You and I both have noticed and commended Randolph and Schumann.
I agree too that they all will have to contribute to advance to the region. I think the Freshman are talked about that much because they are that good. Trust me I am rooting for Bertke and Stoekle and Grant too because they are Seniors.
Yes you are right, seems we are supporting the same topics.
-
Sorry to disagree and first off congrats to NCC.
For Beechwood-Suchanek, a Junior has been solid as you have said, but now 3 starters are frosh in Stringer, Combs and Slusher. All three have done very well for Freshman.
Randolph and Schumann have pitched well for Beechwood. The Tigers simply have to hit better. To say Parker has faired well? How? He has been out of town. The rest of the group must hit for the Tigers to advance to the Region. Watching the Freshman and Suchanek do it all at the plate will not work. I will say #17 is hitting better for Beechwood now-Hamilton?
Don't get me wrong, this freshman class is phenomenal, but i'm just saying people are being left out and not getting credit. Randolph has been one of Beechwoods best pitchers but i can count on one hand the amount of times people give him credit. Parker has been out of town, but while here he has done well, i guess doesn't deserve any credit when you miss 10 games though. Schumann has pitched well but he is also barely talked about. The frosh are a big part of this team, but there are other players that do well.
And on the hitting note, you are right. Tigers haven't hit well. But if Combs goes 1-4 he is talked about. If Stoekle goes 2-4, nobody seems to care. I love watching these frosh, but i want to see credit given to everyone that contributes.

Don't have any exact stats, but I was expecting a pitching deul between Ziegelmeyer and Hyde. But both were roughed up for 4 runs. Then we saw a pitching deul between the two relievers. Ryle got a walk off double in the bottom of the 7th. What a fun game it was to watch! Congrats to the Tigers on a good season and congrats to the Raiders on an awesome win and season!
