  2. Highlands, what is your tuition for out of district kids? Bowling Green's is $175.00. Beechwood, what say you? Ft. Campbell? These are all independent schools and can take whomever they want to enroll. Just as in Jefferson Coounty, you may pay tuition and attend Manual, Ballard, etc as long as they have room for you and you qualify academically, etc. I don't see much information flowing from the independents nor do they receive much criticism.

  3. Does anyone know how many of the teams in the finals are Public VS private schools.

  4. Last year's Central team, that lost to Bowling Green 21-14 in the semi-state, was probably a little better talentwise, but under Ty Scroggins, this Central team is MUCH more disciplined than before, so they probably won't "give" games away like in the past.

Also if you think Belfry will line up and just "run over" Central, you are sorely mistaken. Central is as big and physical as anyone in any class - ask Highlands.

Central's weakspot though is that they are pretty thin, several play both sides of the ball, so Belfry might be able to "wear them down" by the late part of the game, also a big dropoff in talent if Central has to go deep into the bench.

Mister Cobble - #54 is a beast, you will see a lot of him.

Belfry's been there before, Central hasn't - that might be the determining factor. That and turnovers/mistakes.

BTW, Central's drive time to the "pizza box" is about 7 minutes.

  5. I was privileged to be an attendee at the gathering of LSUROCK's friends and family last night at a St. Matthews Pub. 3 1/2 hours of remembering LSUROCK and how much he loved Trinity High and Louisiana State University. Yesterday would have been Dave's 50th birthday and his family felt it would be an appropriate time to share some thoughts and stories. His family recognized how much he enjoyed his time on BluegrassPreps.com. He was one of a kind. He was the most passionate non-Trinity alumnus who supported the Shamrocks I have ever known. Many of his family members are active on this website. Believe me, his immediate family keeps tabs on what's being stated here and continues to enjoy and participate in the spirited debates. :thumb:

  6. The officials, of course.

So many games. More pay for playoff games.

    The trophy supplier as well.

The KHSAA should make a little more with 6 games instead of 4 at the slice.

The kids and the schools as a whole. More excitement. Even though many of the semi-finalist have been there before, DeSales, Central, Lone Oak.....Meade County..they all benefitted from the extra games, extra practice time, etc.

  7. You would think being in the same city they would at least be in the same region.

The KHSAA could always redraw it so Jefferson County has schools in all four regions :fire:

    class 6 A:

Manual could be in region 1

St. Xavier could be in region 2

Male could be in region 3

Trinity could be in region 4

    That works for me :p

  8. It's never about the individual talent, but the sum of the parts or the team.

That's a big reason for success at Trinity and St. Xavier. I don't know that the Lexington kids in general are taught that as a whole.

The one player that gave Trinity fits was Eric Shelton. When there's another Eric Shelton in Lexington, a running back who outweighs the linebackers trying to stop him, then it would be competitive.

  9. If both teams were at full strength, it would be interesting. The Cincinnati crew would win with their superior depth. With the current injury rosters, Bombers 21- Tigers 14.

Bombers without their QB are not nearly as potent offensively. Same could be said for the Tigers without Rolandan Finch. There is a huge difference between playing Marshall County or Dublin Coffman or Meade County and Colerain.

  10. Nice thread, everyone.

Boone played very well versus Dixie Heights this season and were balanced during the regular season game that was televised.

There is a 10% chance of precipitation Friday.

I predicted for the past two months that Boone would make this game.

I firmly believe Trinity will win this one 49-14 based on recent games. I was incorrect in stating that the Henry Clay-Trinity game would include a running clock. I believe this one will. Farris will get his yards against the second and third teamers. He is very talented. Henry Clay rolled up 440 yards.....but only 14 points.

The senior leadership on this team is much better than in 2004. That team lost it's focus and there were some internal issues that Coach Beatty did not address. He has vowed to never let that happen again.

Arrogance versus confidence? I'm confident to the point of being arrogant.

I expect Trinity to be "in the hunt" for a title every season. States like Ohio have many Trinitys and St. Xaviers due to their population. Indiana is not blessed with huge private schools, but have several smaller schools that do very well in football. Trinity and St. X stick out like sore thumbs. Like I have stated before, these schools have increased their enrollment by half over the past 30 years (from 900 to 1400 in Trinity's case). The publics have decided that smaller is better, for whatever reason. (It's the number of students per classroom, not the number in the building that has the greatest effect on individual education). Welcome Cooper High to northern Kentucky as students are syphoned off from Ryle, Boone, etc.

  11. Holy Cross has never won a region title game and that streak will not end in this one. Beehcies name the score.
actually...Holy Cross was one game away from a State Championship in 4-A in 1987. They beat Male 14-13 in the 1st round (there were only 4 rounds of playoffs then) then beat St. Xavier 7-0 in the second round, which I believe at the time was called "regional championship", they then lost to Shelby Co. 14-7 in the semi-state. Shelby went on to beat Boone for the 4-A title the following week.

    But they won't win Friday.
