  1. Just my humble opinion:

    4. It's no surprise that the two teams who have dominated Class 3A have been the two teams traditionally the most dominant on the LOS.

This point seems to get overlooked often these days, and I have always thought and been taught that is the most important aspect of gameplay on the field.

If you don't control the trenches, every thing else is less efficient.

If you control the LOS, you can run any offense you want with efficiency.

    As well as

If you control the LOS, your defense will feast.

There are other factors, but this is battle #1, and everything else depends on it.

If the battery on your car is dead, it doesn't matter how fast it will go, or how far it can go on a tank of gas-

  2. Late in on this because I have been a bit busy this week, but I'll give my take.

Tilghman had its opportunities, but repeatedly blew its chances. The two major factors were conditioning and turnovers. PT dominated the first quarter, running the ball at will and pounding out 4-6 yards per carry; as well as controlling the pace on defense. But playing ironman football with most starters going both ways wore on them and cramps became a huge issue. As the game progressed it seemed to put PT into a different scheme of offense, which resulted in some awful interceptions. This gave MC the momentum it needed to cover the gap.

PT could have easily gone in at the half up 27-6, as a kick returned for a td was called back and they ran out of time on the MC 3 yard line as the fist half expired. These timing and miscues cost them, and the result was a overtime loss.

Overall though, I like the direction Duncan is taking them.

With our schedule I have no doubt we will take our lumps on a bumpy road, but Duncan seems to be a level-headed old school coach that can build the strong foundation we need to get PT headed in the right direction.

  3. I guess I will go first-

I'm not sure if anyone can make a clear pick considering all the factors for both teams:

    New coach, check

    New offense, check

    New defense, check

    New QB, check

    Talent turnover, check

Both schools are facing huge changes, but seem to be excited about their new coaches.

PT looks towards a new ground and pound attack, whereas MC looks to continue to spread it out.

Who wins Saturday night? My guess is the team that controls the time of possession.

  4. Coaching is always important, but a bad coach can win some games with great talent.

But put that coach against a good one in a tough game and he will lose.

Taking things to the next level, All pieces need to be in place to win championships, Coaching, players, and staff.
