I believe that Harris, Enslen and Hightchew will be playing for NCC this spring. Not sure on McHugh. Gesenhues attends HHS and apparently is not playing baseball for the Birds, rather he is working on his soccer game. I believe the others are not playing high school baseball this season in order to participate in spring football and get ready for next years football season. They will be playing an abbreviated schedule this summer and hopes are that a few of them may have a change of heart over the next few years.

That saddens me. I know it has been beaten to death on every HS forum, but kids "choosing" to concentrate on one sport at such a young age seems too much. Think of the friendships, camaraderie, and life-long memories he will miss out on. Who doesn't regale about stories when they were 15-16-17? Maybe I'm WAY off base, but I can't imagine Brady telling stories to his kids about the time during spring soccer practice that happened, versus the stories he could tell about baseball games played during his high school career.

I have tremendous respect for the Gesenhues family and the decision. I'm sure they have discussed this and feel it is best for Brady. That's what is most important. But I can't help but think to myself .. Brady is a very good soccer AND baseball player. Why can't kids just be kids and play sports to have fun?

What does that have to do with anything. 380 kids versus 1100 kids means more players to pick from and there are not many kids choosing to go to Brossart for sports and if they are they are picking it for the wrong reasons. They have a good sports programs and have been very good but just don't have the numbers to reload every year. Some very good classes and some ok classes thats how it goes for small school. Montgomery has a really good team and would beat BBHS 8 or 9 times out of 10. No disrespect to BBHS because they are good and play as hard as anyone, thats just the way it is.

I love small school sports and would love to see classes but it will never happen. All A is there chance to shine and some years in the big show. How many "A" schools will make the sweet 16 in either boys or girls. Not many if any.

Stunned that Ruthsatz passed that ball. An unselfish play on his part .. teammate was wide open .. but the best player on the floor has to shoot that ball with the game on the line.

Feel bad for CC, cause they had their chances (Fred and Hep missed open looks down one), but Holmes stepped up and won the game. HUGE tap in by Chames, and huge FTs by #14 after Bolden had fouled out.

You couldn't have asked for a better game, or a better atmosphere (keep the tourney at BOK). Best of luck to Holmes .. represent the ninth well!

Emily Sanker put the Lady Stangs on her back in '10, upsetting Campbell Co in the semis and Scott (Lauren Tibbs) in the finals. Mont Co knocked out the Stangs in the first round of the Regionals at the Fieldhouse.
