I have said all along that hiring a young coach that is willing to stay around a while is the right answer for this job. I still think you need someone with Somerset ties to get in there so they do not let Gover and Wright get all the talent to the two county schools. You need someone who can keep the Somerset kids in the city and draw other talent in as well.

I could see Hundley leaving now that he graduated his top players and has made it known that he is a good coach who can coach good talent. I would not be surprised to see him go to a year in and year out more talented school. Although i am not sure Dunbar is a better place to be. I think he would want more of a step up than that.

I agree Ligon did a great job at Bryan Station. Breeden is another great coach as well.

So over the weekend has anything changes or they still trying to iron things out with Happy Osborne?
-
What schools are showing interest on Barnette now?
-
Bath County needs a coach is planning on staying there a while to get a strong feeder system in place and also so these kids can have some stability in their program. A new coach every couple years in sometimes tough for kids to handle.

When are they supposed to be deciding on this job?
-
Haha they have changed it back now. That is some drama there.

I have heard that West Carter was supposed to announce very soon who there new coach is going to be. Has anyone heard anything?
-
I saw on the Somerset website that Monday is the last day they are accepting applications. Does anyone know or have any thoughts on who the next coach there may be? Still the only things i have heard or saw is that people have said Jeff Cothran, Dave Fraley, Jordan Mann. I heard from a teacher in the Somerset district that they thought there had been quite a few people apply for this job. I wonder what other names are out there for this job?

If I had to rank them top to bottom based on what i saw from last season here is how it would look from my perspective:
1- Fleming
2-Russell
3-Rowan
4-Boyd
5-Ashland
6-East
7-West
8-Lewis
9-Raceland
10-Greenup
11-Morgan
12-Fairview
13-Elliott
14-Bath
15-Menifee
16-Rose Hill

I would guess that would mean he is replacing Tony Wise or why else would his name even be on there.
-
When i say he did a great job that just means he did a great job with the talent he had. Just because you do not win every game and regional titles doesn't mean you cannot coach. Now i have only seen his teams play a few times but they seem to play very hard for him and they were very competitive in the games i saw. Maybe i am wrong but from what I saw he did a great job.

I think there will be a lot of interest for this job. Who do you all see as the favorites or front runners? Or is too early to tell with this job right now?
-
On KHSAA website it has Happy Osbourne listed as the coach of Montgomery County now.
-
Here are a few other coaches I have been really impressed with over the past couple years. I know i am leaving out some really good coaches but these are the ones I have seen in person.
Humphrey at GRC
Noble at Buckhorn
Biggs at Ashland
Unseld at Warren Central
Hundley at Woodford County
Feldhaus at Russell County
Barr at Bullitt East
Messer at Clinton County
O'Hearn at Mason
Again I know i left off a lot of good coaches but i have not seen every team in the state play or play enough to say whether or not i believe they are a good coach. I agree with the comment someone had about great players win games but at the same time if those great players do not have good leadership from their coach they often do not reach their full potential.

Does anyone know when the interviewing is going to start for this job?
-
I agree this coaching staff does a very good job. Now it did not hurt that they had the best team in the region this year as well to go with those great coaches. i saw a lot of the teams in this region play and Clark County was clearly the best team in this region. They were 10 points better than the rest of the teams.
-
I personally would like to see Coach Tackett at Rowan County get this job. He is one of the hardest working coaches that i have ever seen at the high school level and I have been around high school basketball for about 15 years.
-
I agree i think the 16th Region at this point could be wide open. This summer we may get more of a feel for who the best teams could be. Net season should be interesting the 16th Region.
-
Coach Jones always has his kids playing hard and good at the right time.
-
Congrats to all these kids. I saw a bunch of them play throughout their basketball careers and these kids can all really play.
-
i forgot all about Scott Hundley. He does a great job. I saw him play in the AIT in Ashland and last summer and he has his team playing hard and smart.

That would be a great hire for Bath County. Coach Bordas does a great job

Any new developments over the weekend for any of these jobs?
