  1. Not sure about any NKY football team, but you are right that CovCath will have to play a very good game in order to win. I never said anything to the contrary. But this year's LaSalle team from what I'm told is not near the level of Cincy X, Moe, Elder or Colerain. Last year, yes. This year, no.
The only point was that for NKY standards its going to be a tuff match up. I am sure Highlands would beat Lasalle this year by 5 touchdowns.
  2. I thought I read somewhere that LaSalle lost almost every starter on O and this year's senior class is down. So there aren't a bunch of stud seniors to step into and fill the shoes of the starters that graduated. I realize it's a GCL team, but only sort of in my opinion. It's one of the smallest D-1 schools in Ohio and with the exception of some rare years, generally isn't in contention to beat the likes of X, Elder or Moe.

I think CovCath has a great chance of winning. Game's in PH, correct? If so, CovCath should probably be the favorite.

    Go CovCath. Beat those buckeyes!

Lasalle is still going to be as good as any NKY football team. They have two defense players that have D1 Scholarships (UC, Miami of Ohio). I am sure that they will be a very good team and CovCath will have to play very good to win or make it competitive. A great game to measure yourself by. CovCath will be much better in a few weeks while the defense continues to grow.
  3. I offer my apologies. I am not trying to start anything. I am just offering my opinion and that is that I did not see a well coached effort from the Camels last night. After what I read about the whole coaching issue in Campbell county last year. I just can't see too many people pleased with what they saw last night. I do hope that Lickert turns things around for CCH. I 've met more than a few of their kids over the years and they are, to a man, very good kids. The Camel fans are some of the most accommodating I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. All that said, I still don't back off the statement I made. There were coaching errors made in Purple last night.
What coaching errors are you referring too? I do believe after they got down by 14 points that you could see the kids deflate. They were beat by a mature talented team. Pretty easy to say coaching errors after the fact.

Most of us in the stands have never lost a game! first game the man has coached with this group of kids and coaching errors?

  4. I think it will be determined in the trenches. Whoever has the healthier line when they meet will have the advantage. Bir is very impressive and with time can pick you apart. Highlands has owned the series recently so they have that as an advantage. Regardless, it will be a competitive game.
I sure hope the game is determined in the trenches. I will put CovCath up against anyone up front. There offensive line will provide anyone including Highlands a big challenge! Highlands still the team to beat but watch out if CovCath can get the defensive side of the ball competitive against good teams.
  5. You missed that I mentioned 1) it's 5A, and 2) it's August. Points being 5A is weak and August is early.
No I read and understood fully your comments. I don't believe you are going to be contending for any state title this year in 5A no matter how weak it is and your improvement still will not put you in the hunt. Next year more realistic.
  6. Congratulations to all the kids mentioned in the article but we all know that list has several kids that could be on it thats not. I will not mention kids I know should be on the list because it makes no sense to do that. I dont understand why they would have this come out anyway. Coaches dont know all the talent around the state but they know the big names that have recieved offers already for college. There are probably 50% of these kids that have equivilants around the state.

  7. Playing without your 2 starting tackles and your #1 receiver, tend to make things a little more difficult. It gave the backups valuable experience they wouldn't get if they were playing a weaker opponent. It shows them exactly what they need to do to get better. If your beating someone by 5 touchdowns in a scrimmage, all it does it give you a false sense of security. I say play Trinity every year and make yourself better!

Wow! We did not realize they where missing 2 starting tackles and #1 reciever (Anthony Munoz, Forest Gregg and Jerry Rice). Now it makes sense why they didnt have a better showing. It could not be they played a superior team.

  8. Just curios about SK football history. How many State Championships do they have in their history? Mabey thats an unfair question so lets try this.. How many regional championships do they have. I am pretty new to the NKY area but it sure seems SK fans really feel they have an elite program. I would not even rank them in my top 5 for NKY area (present or past). Mabey top ten.

  9. I do believe many Highlands fans believe they are on par with 6A powers like Trinity and St.X. The reality is they have awesome program that will not compete consitently against 6A powers just like Beechwood against the Birds. No harm playing them or scrimmage them if you can deal with the reality that very small percentage of time you are going to be able to win. it is hard to think people really thought that they would be on par with Trinity.
