  1. Apparrantly Zeke was telling the truth all along. He's taken a polygraph and proved his innocense in the matter from this past Friday night.

Who are the other boys suspended?

I think a drug test would make more sense to prove innocence. I am sure that would be what I would suggest if that was my son and he was innocent. I am tired of hearing all about Zeke Pike and most if it is not complimentary. Can everyone be out to get Zeke or is there truth in it?
  2. Everyone, whether they agree or not also needs to realize that the person on legal committed no crime. The synthetic marijuana is legal if your over 18. Yes it is harmful and if they did do it, it shouldn't have been brought to school or done before a game but technically they weren't in the wrong, except for team rules.

I would say that the Auburn scholarship will remain in tact based off the LSU case with this same substance. I hope these young men get their priorities in order and learn from this situation.

Good news is they did not inhale and they would never smoke the real thing that is illegal!
  3. Mueller or Fowler
Mueller? I dont think anyone is shocked with his teams success this year. How about Dave Wirth and his fine staff at CovCath. He has developed his program over the last three years along with his players to be in a position to challenge the "mighty bluebirds" and their quest for another state championship. l think we need the season to play out a few more weeks before we know the answer.
  4. Looks like Blake's stats were much better than I had thought. Still...not a pretty game. I suppose I could have been basing my opinion on the amount it seemed that Blake was stuck scrambling before he threw, which would come back to the O-line and trying to replace Jake.
CovCath averaged 8 plus yards per play and had over 500 total yds. I believe they had two turnovers that cost them 14 more points. Offense was not firing on all cylinders but nothing to be too critical about.
  5. For the most part yes, but when CCH had 1st and goal at the one after the fumble recovery, the Highlands D line rose to the occcasion and handled the CCH O-Line and kept them out of the endzone.
Are you kidding me with that comment? We fumbled the ball on snap on third down. CCH offensive line did their job all day long!
  6. Guru, Remember when you told me that I needed to be ojective with CCH and their chances with Highlands. I think if we look in the dictionary you will see two words objective and subjective. It looks like I was being objective and you were being subjective. I think you said we could not stay with in several touchdowns but nice team. You take last years game and this years game and tell me we dont have any chance of winning. Our kids believe but need to play better. I think we belong on the same field with the Bluebirds.

  7. It probably spells trouble for CCH but I think it is a positive for Boone. If they can stop CCH's passing game, they should be able to handle Dixie. The way the Boone defense has played to start this season, in my eyes this game makes Boone the favorite in 6A. I am also impressed with what Boone's new offense has done. Having Schwartz healthy and playing QB has opened the passing game and the Thompson kid has gone from a scapegoat to a major plus. You have to feel great for that kid to go through all the negative the last couple years and come out to have the season he is having so far. Good for him! This game tells me Boone is going to win N. Ky. 6A.
Trouble in what way? They cant beat Highlands and win State. Lets keep things in perspective and enjoy the season. Nobody expects them to beat Highlands but that doesnt matter. You have to play the game and see.
  8. It was a close game, fairly entertaining, but it spells trouble for both teams. Both teams are solid/decent but neither one of them are anything special. Highlands names their score against CCH and Boone will be in a bunch of district games that can go either way.
What kind of trouble does it spell? let the season play out and we will see how this game really matters. CCH is not a finished product and we can expect more improvement before the end of the year. Boone County played a very good game last night. Highlands will be a tuff match up for any team in the state exept Trinity. CCH needs to see how they match up in two weeks and keep improving and hopely they will see them again in playoffs. Way to early to be declaring trouble for both teams. I think both teams are positioned to have a very good season. If CCH wins by 4 TD it still would not matter to you because the next statement would be they have not beat a quality opponent. Where you at the game last night and how many times have you seen CCH play this year.
  9. Vocke's back-up (a 10th grader) had over 100 yards on 3 carries and is just as fast. This was a 14-12 BW lead at the half. They scored 55 second half points. Beechwood's QB is still very suspect though. Not very sharp and trying to force passes. They need to fix this before CCH next we
Is this the same QB that the Beechwood faithful were telling everyone that he was getting D1 looks? I remember several post this summer on this subject.
  10. A great post-catch run with great down field blocking. Agreed on all counts. :thumb: But, the pass did clink off a LaSalle D-lineman's forearm before it was scooped up by Gabe.

I would have liked to have seen more plays where Gabe had the ball with some space to operate, rather than dives into the middle of a congested line of scrimmage.

I love Gabe and his ability. You are assuming that he was taking the right course when executing the running plays Zone blocking allows lineman to take d-line the way they are going and RB runs to daylight.
  11. Barker had 28 yards lost. In other words, he had 187 gross yards.
Are we going to take away the yards credited on scrambles when he was trying to pass. You cant have it both ways. He carried the ball a ton and his average per carry was average at best. Give the kid credit for being a workhorse and tuff but still learning. He has potential to be a great QB. He is only a sophomore and deserves alot of credit but the hype has been over the top.
  12. I think if Highlands drills the CCH the first time around it matters because in the back of the "CCH Mind" it is here we go again...
I dont think you would hear this from any of the kids involved with CCH program. Whether they get drilled or not they believe they can beat Highlands. You could not have said that 2-3 years ago. They thought they could beat them last year but not in the cards. They would have to play a great game but they are capapble.

Highlands is a great team! Even if they get drilled they believe they can win. they wont be bullied around. Remember, CCH in the second half vs Dixie outscored them 42-7. Starters were pulled 1/2 way through 4th.

The defense is young and is still has a way to go but will continue to get better.

  13. Could be. I do think Lex Cath looks much better this year than last though. The verdicts still out on CC, imo. Dixie is way overrated and NCC manhandled them much easier than CC did and I don't think NCC would be the 2nd best 4a team. Granted, Pike didn't play, but, if you saw the game, I don't think it would have mattered that much.
How can you compare Dixie with and without Pike like it doesnt matter. NCC without Brady Hitchew doesnt make a difference? You cant compare NCC game VS Dixie and say they manhandled Dixie more therefore better than CCH. Would any offense struggle to score and keep their defense of the field if there star QB was not playing? think about local teams and take off there best offensive player and tell me it would not have major impact.
  14. Personally, I think Lex Catholic and Western have both been more impressive than either Cov Cath or Boyle. Lex Cath played an excellent 5a team toe to toe and beat a very, very good Bell team. Both of those teams are better than anything CC's played thus far. Western beat a talented Ballard team. Did they get penalized because Ballard got bombed by Byrnes, SC? There's not a team in Ky that would have faired much better with exception to Trinity.
How about Covcath beating Lex Cath badly last year and I do not think Lex Cath has improved more than CovCath this year.
  15. I grabbed this from http://www.yappi.com

    This is weak?

    Oak Hills

    Covington Catholic

    Lakota East

    Northwest (Indianapolis)

    Bishop Watterson

    Moeller

    St. Xavier

    Brother Rice

    St. Francis DeSales

    Elder

Maybe not on par with what X or Elder play, but certainly not weak!

    3 GCL games

    2 GMC games

    3 good/decent lower division teams

1 not sure about (Brother Rice)

    1 Gimme with Northwest Indy

Thanks Guru for helping me make my point. I hope CovCath wins but Lasalle has talent!
