Y'all taking the team down to watch? I love a small school Cinderella story, but the Polar Bears aren't making it out of the 10th.
....as always, ole Honch is good for business.

Haha! @mcpapa @Randy Parker. I almost found myself responding logically. Almost fell in the trap. Lol

I done some digging and not real sure why Bracken County is acting like they are owed anything. Bracken last won a district championship in 1999 and they have lost in the first round of region every year except a first round victory in 2017. From 1998-2019 they have 1 district championship and 1 region win. I have the KY Basketball Encyclopedia but I am not going back any further to seek out their history.
In 14 Years in current alignment from 2006 they have only made 6 trips and all as runner ups and two of them to Augusta and not Mason. One first round loss was to St Patrick in 2009 as well.
Trips to Region all as runner up
2010, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 (First round win in 2017 at Region)
Before the realignment, it was 2004, 1999, 1998 and 99 District champs in the 38th and first round loss at region.
Pecking order in the history of this District is
1. Mason
2. Augusta
3. Bracken
4. St Patrick
I do agree every district should seed but Bracken acting like they are owed to go to and get beat first round is ridiculous especially if you seeded they would be in the 2-3 with a team they split with, its not like they are 50 better than the other two teams. If this were two powers like a Scott County, Cov Cath, or a Trinity, etc drawing in the first round I could see the argument. Anyways good luck to all 39th teams!
Just curious, aside from one anonymous poster on a message board, how did you conclude that “Bracken” thinks they are owed anything?
Just a tip, I wouldn’t put too much time or effort into proving that one anonymous poster wrong. Lol
Admittedly though, this thread shows how good that poster is at their “craft”.

Mason gave them about 8 points in the last minute. Game was not near that close. Next time we play, is Bracken going to have an answer for Schalch. NO!! Blake Reed is good but now way he does what he does he he did not play for his Dad. He gets to do what he wants by getting thirty shots a game.
What a response from an adult about an eight grader, when said eighth grader puts the Royals on their heels.
I'll have to disagree with you on this one. Entering last night's game, Reed was averaging 13.75 field goal attempts per game. Not even tops on the team (Jhace Cummins was #1). Last night's 28 attempts were far from the norm. Thanks for bringing facts to the table.

Black and white.

Did Coach Reed apply for the job at Augusta?
According to an article in the Ledger Independent, perhaps, yes.
-
Adam Reed is no joke as a basketball coach. If he is allowed adequate access to the gym his program will become a formidable competitive force in the 10th Region. If his hands are tied, as others have been in the past, the chemistry will erupt again. Good luck Coach Reed, Bracken has gotten a winner!
With the above being said, any thoughts as to why Augusta, as a program where he was involved at the middle school level and 2 of his kids attend, didn’t hire him?
-
-
What teams did he play against in his 13 games?
Who do you think should have won?
-
Then, in your opinion, he did enough prior to 2019 and in only 13 games that outweighed everyone else in consideration?
Yes. But an argument could me made for all of the candidates. But those given the task chose Mr. Allen.
-
So then should he have just been awarded prior to the season?
No.
-
Since when?
Like everyone else on here, giving my opinion.
-
Nothing wrong with kids being politically correct.
Correct.
-
I’m sure the other candidates are disappointed that they didn’t receive the award under any circumstances. And behind closed doors they are probably letting that be known. But it’s amusing(sad, but amusing)that adults are reacting publicly as they are, but a couple of the candidates, Moreno and Johnson, are mature enough to congratulate their fellow candidate.
-
The system is very flawed. I’ll never understand how you can play in 12.5 of your team’s 28 games and win Mr. Basketball.
Career award.

Robertson made themselves proud by not getting blown out by a top 5 team in state. Should be strong this time next year and a real threat to be champs. I think their schedule this year was designed to build confidence. I expect next year's will be designed to eventually beat the big dogs. Congrats Blackdevils, you have a bright future.
If things stay intact in Mt Olivet for next season, it should be their year. A quick look at how the other rosters around the region will change due to graduation, should allow for that. There’s been a lot of chatter all season about their schedule. I’m not sure how this seasons schedule built confidence. There were a lot of weaker teams that they obviously beat, but there were a handful of tough teams as well and they got smoked by all of them. Then lost to Bracken, a team they beat earlier and then lost to Harrison.

From GRC this morning, Clark defeated Harrison County and Scott defeated Augusta in the semifinals. Scott then beat Clark 42-40 in overtime to win the 10th region freshman championship.
Any details on Augusta in this one?
-
Not sure the firm solution to this, but something needs to happen to stop this behavior. It is absolutely inexcusable.
No matter how poor one thinks a call or the overall officiating is, it does warrant the ridiculous behavior of those sitting in the bleachers.
-
Not to make any excuses but I will, but Bourbon, the second time around, played Montgomery County and Model without three starters and their Coach. I think had those three players played, the outcome would've been different. I still wouldn't sleep on the Colonels, although Campbell County is the cream of the crop!
On a side note, BC should have everyone back tonight, including their Coach when they face GRC in Winchester!
Great job as always mcpapa, enjoy reading your recaps!
Fair point. 3 starters and head coach missing is certainly a game changer.

@mooremiller31have you seen any stats?

In a recent victory against Cumberland, Bailey recorded a triple-double:
22 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds.
-
Cummins from Bracken(now Shawnee State) to play against Alexis Reed from Mason (now Pikeville) today. Good luck to both 10th Region alumnae.
Bailey scores 14 to get her 1000th point and Shawnee gets the victory.
-
Bailey is 2 points away from scoring her 1000th college career point. The Shawnee State women host Pikeville tomorrow, Saturday January 5.
