  1. Coach Josh Stratton, has had coaching stints in Grant County, St.Louis and at Holmes. He is an offensive kind of guy but knows the complete game very well. He will bring a high octane and hard working attitude and will demand excellence from his players and his coaches, because he demands it of himself. He will run what his players talents are, he is not a system coach. I have said it earlier that if they will allow him to surround himself with strong assistants they will reap the rewards of this great young mind. He knows how to run an entire program and has got to work with some great coaches in his days and will be able to attract some guys to come work for him .

Just a side note he has also coached basketball in Ohio, KY and was a head coach in St. Louis where he was the coach of the year in basketball in his region. He knows how to win and will instill a winning attitude in all the kids and people he is around because he is so energetic and full of enthusiasm. He knows the weight room and what it takes to be sucessful. Players be ready and be prepared to dedicate to being a better athlete and person because that is what will happen at Lloyd with Stratton.

Sounds like a great hire! good luck next season!

  2. Make it a competition. Divide the kids into groups just like is done during the season and challenge them to be the best. Work hard up to a point and make it a big deal top get stronger. Develop a system of how to determine the winner. Have each group produce a winner and then have an overall winner. Post it in the locker room and weight room. People love to compete, make it a game and let them have fun. competition brings out the best in people and attendance will go up, and most importantly it will show on the field.

  3. You don't have the special needs kids that just came into school after being up all night because daddy decided to stroll in from the bar at 2am, then start to hit up on mommy like she was a punching bag, all the while the kid only having an 80 IQ to beigin with.

Thats a rough life that so many kids do have to live with each day.....

  4. :confused::confused:

If I am a principal, my football and hoops coaches are teachers...math and science, or something analytical and conceptual...ask the folks in Ft. Thomas or in Holy Cross...these Social Studies and gym teachers and security guards are easy to figure out after awhile, because they're coordinators are often not the sharpest knives in the jar, much like them.

I guess Mike Yeagle (gym teacher) and Noel Rash (Social Studies) must be pretty stupid in your eyes since they are coaches who teach subjects other than Math and science, and by the way I know that Mueller at Highlands is an extremely smart individual and has a science background, but does he still teach a class or is he just a FB coach and AD?

  5. The rule of being a teacher and head coach is a thing of the past. However, a lot of schools still prefer to hire people that teach in the building. In most cases a coach can be found to coach football and basketball and be teachers, it was becoming harder and harder to find coaches for swimming, golf, tennis etc... so they went the para professional route.

  6. I have no clue but he is playing in their feeder program and his pops told me Cooper is the school. However, alot can change between now and Freshman year. :) He got a taste of the Ft. Thomas league and hopefully there might be a reunion of some sorts down the road. A joy to coach and a real gamer. Smart, handled over 40 plays and I allowed him to check off and call his own plays many times.

We are talking about a 4th grader right?????

  7. I had an outstanding left handed kid from Hebron on our FTJRFL Red team last yr. He was a 4th grader, ahletic and threw the ball like a 6th grader. I was informed he unfortunately won't be back next year and will be playing in Cooper's new feeder league. We ran a spread shotgun offense and he was a natural. Cooper fans need to keep their eye on this youngstr. I'm assuming as a 5th grader he will be on the Juniors. All the attributes of a future QB. I wish him the best.

Trosper better keep his eye on him:D:p

  8. I have, and yes she is a special talent. I believe OC is a very fine and capable team but I dont remember if she has a supporting cast or not. Oh yeah, and even the greatest KY girls bb player ever could only get a runner-up title game at Highlands. RD will have a nice game plan in place for Greenwell. Good Luck Breds.

Ouch.....said the little bluebird from Ft Thomas :cry:

  9. No, Cam Shwartz will be at Qb next season. He has a great arm, just not a lot of experience. I've heard rumors that Coach T, the Athletic Director, and the Principle had a meeting, in which he was told if Bryson is at QB he will get fired. Could just be rumors though.

Not doubting this information but I think it would be hard to tell anybody that there kid cant play or they will get fired. What happens if the son is the back up or third string Qb and some injuries happen, If coach Thompson's son is put in at Qb will the principal and the AD and whoever else rush the field and fire the guy? I think the Boone Co principal has more sense than that...........

  10. The program through the previous 10 years before Ron took over won 5 All"A" regionals, went to the All A finals once and semi-finals 3 other times. They also won 2 regional titles. Doesn't sound like a program that was really down. No question Ron has done a great job, but the program was really turned around about 14 years ago.

I agree 100% NCC girls have been tough for a long time. They were pretty good when Ron Dawn was coaching the boys program. Whatever happened to the old NCC coach? Her name escapes me now but I always liked her and thought she did an OK job at NCC.

  11. If they can't find a way to equal out the facilities such as field houses, turf, equipment and such the disparities in talent will just increase in my opinion. Young families with sport interests will start migrating to those newer and better equipped schools and leave the others in a lurch. Boone at least has had upgrades to some of its sports areas unlike Conner.

Hey there is a new track in Cougartown!, who needs anythng else when you got that!

  12. Watching him at the combine, and I am no expert, but he seems to have trouble with the longer drops, 5 to 7 steps from under center. It was all simulated and he looked a bit rusty. Matter of fact they all looked a bit robotic. Is this just the pressure of the combine or are these guys like Newton really like that?

  13. What is wrong with UK???

The obvious statement is they are way too young. Their senior hardly played last year and other upperclassmen are not ready for the leadership role.

    How about this:

    1. Maybe, just maybe, last years group of freshman were the best group of freshman ever assembled. Seriously. That group was sooo talented that they would have such big leads and give them up, only to come on at the end. If your up 20+ in a game, even if you cant close a game out, its hard to lose that big of a lead.

    2. This years freshmen are not as good as last years. Period.

    3. Patrick Patterson is one of the all time great UK players, his guidance on and off the floor was and is missed this season.

    4. Nobody has come close to replacing Patterson. His influence is gone and is missed. It is unfair to want to force a guy like Darius Miller into that role if he does not want it.

    5. Anytime UK goes on the road they get the home teams best game. Arkansas might not go to the tourney this season, but beating UK was great for them and their coach. On a neutral floor (SEC Tourney) look for them to do well. UK always travels well. Their fans always show up, even when they are not supposed to. Case in point was when the SEC tourney was moved to Ga Tech because of a tornado, only a select group of tickets were given out, and what happened, the place was still full of UK fans.
