  1. My first post was made before U.K. lost their starting QB.

Then again it could turn out to be a blessing.

D.B. can not be any worse than the starter.

Right, just like how NW's backup QB can't be any worse than their starter. Again, poor logic but I'll give you that timing wasn't on your side with your first comment.

  2. Interesting comparison. The Reds don't have a front line starter as good as Ervin Santana, but outside of Santana (and maybe Berrios) the Twins' rotation is very mediocre.

The Twins are 3 games over .500 (I think) but basically out of playoff contention. I'd take that next year from the 2018 Reds.

Twins have a 2 1/2 game lead over LAA/Texas for the 2nd wildcard spot.

  3. State officials say 2.7 million without power in Florida as of now. Local Sarasota news was saying earlier that Sarasota Bay had receded by about 50 feet - which is what will fuel the storm surge. This has left boats and a few manatees trapped in the mud... they were able to move the manatees to deeper water.

  4. Here's the scoop guys. First of all, i find it hilarious how worked up UK fans get over Indiana, still.

Ultimately, you have to look at it like this. Who is the best coach that Indiana can possibly have right now? That's the question we need to answer.

    - Gregg Marshall - Is he really an upgrade? Really? I'm not buying it. And it doesn't move the meter for me either. Would I support the move, maybe. I wouldn't be dead against, but no chance any of you sitting out there really know if he's an upgrade. PLUS, I am leery of any dude who spells Greg with two g's. Just weird.

    - Brad Stevens - Absolutely hysterical to me that any person thinks he has some mythical connection to IU simply b/c he coached at Butler. Not happening.

    - Tom Crean - Has had a really decent run. Decent is the word I would apply to it. Up and down, take out the first 5 years, he couldn't recruit off campus for 4. And he has a pretty good record. Including a couple wins over the almighty Kentucky Wildcats. He had a young team. 1 Senior. Lost two of his 5 starters to injury. Had a really solid freshman class who were forced in to action before they were ready. They're good players, just weren't immediate impact guys.

The answer to the initial question is: Tom Crean. There's no real reason to get rid of him right now. They had a down year. Ok, it happens. I don't expect him to go anywhere, I can't possibly imagine him leaving on his own.

I guess we'll all just have to wait and see but it is funny how much time and energy some of you have put in to this.

As a follower of IU basketball, I have to whole heartedly disagree with this POV. You name two coaches, which one of, I agree is more than a long shot for the Hoosiers to land (Brad Stevens). But there are absolutely coaches out there that are an upgrade over Crean that I think IU is more than capable of acquiring. One such coach being Archie Miller. Crean has had 9 years to prove what he is capable of. Yeah he has won two big ten championships (one of which came last year when the team had the easiest big ten schedule of any team in the league), and he also failed miserably in the tournament with the most talented team in college basketball when he lost handedly to Syracuse in the sweet 16. Besides these two seasons Crean has been below average finishing 5th, 8th, 7th, and 10th in the league, has missed the tournament completely twice, and has been bounced in the first round once. And thats not even including his first three years in Bloomington in which he compiled an 8-46 big ten record. I know the program was in bad shape so Im willing to give him a pass on those years.

At some point IU fans deserve to expect better. I fear if Glass doesn't make a change now, IU will never be able to re-enter the discussion as an elite college basketball program.

  5. Of all the names you could throw out there, how does Billy Donovan's come up? No way he would take the IU job.

Why do you think that? Just because he passed on the UK job twice? One of the main reason he left Florida was because he didn't feel the basketball program was receiving the same funding, attention, and support as the football program. He would have the exact opposite problem at IU who shows the basketball program as much support as any school in the nation. He also left for the chance to coach Westbrook and Durant together. Obviously, Durant messed that up and OKC is a fringe playoff team now. So to think there is no shot he would leave is naive in my opinion. Im not saying he would leave for sure, but I guarantee you he would take the call and listen to what Fred Glass has to say.

  6. I would love if Mack went. The other two don't move it for me. That's just me.

Really? I don't know how IU fans would be happy if they hired Chris Mack. Chris Mack's career at Xavier so far is not drastically different than Crean's was at Marquette. In fact, Mack has never made it passed the sweet 16 while Crean lead Marquette to a final four. What does Mack really offer that is an immediate upgrade over Tom Crean?

Indiana has to set their sights high for their next coach. They cannot afford to miss on another hire. Mack would not even be in my top tier of options. To hit a homerun they need to land Stevens, Alford, or Donovan. I realize they might be long shots but they need to be pursued hard. If those guys don't bite, which I have a hard time believing none of them will, I would pursue Gregg Marshall or Archie Miller. IMO Archie Miller is a better coach and has much more upside than Mack.
