  1. Glad to see Harrison Co bounced back for a big win.Was hoping to see Catholic game on sat(rained out).Did anyone see Catholic friday night ,how did they look, who pitched, are they the team to beat in Lexington regoin.

Lex Cath won 6-1,and avenged an early 10-9 loss to Somerset. Zach Haynes, a Jr, threw for Lex Cath, he threw well, Somerset is a good hitting team. Lex Cath had 2 HRs, hit it well, but still left a lot of runs in scoring position, but its still early.

The game with Harrison Co would have been a good game, But you would not have seen Martin or Arthur on the mound, Lex Cath has 2 district games, Tues against Dunbar, who is undefeated against KY teams and Wed against Lafayette. By the end of the week, the 43 district standing should be taking shape.

  2. It was a nice comback by Somerset, the 8-0 lead was at the end of the 1st, but Catholic gave this game away. Somerset scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th on 4 errors and there only hit of the inning was a routine ground ball to the right side of the firstbaseman that hit something and popped over his left shoulder, all 3 runs scored on wild pitches. Somerset deserves credit though for not giving up.

  3. Any info about the game?

Lex Cath won 11-1 in 6, Arthur and Carroll threw For Lex Cath.

Catholic stranded 6 men on base in innings 1-3 without scoring, then scored 11 in 4-6. Not many mistakes for either team, Trinity had a few hits but could never string them together. Trinity defense looked good they had 3 double plays in the first 4 innings.

  4. Stop it!!!! First of all any kid that could even remotely come close to what you are suggesting is a phenom and a first round draft pick out of high school. Secondly any right minded coach that would even let his kid throw at their maximum this early in the season is STUPID. I dont care if what scout was there, that kid is asking for some serious arm troubles. JMO.

Maybe he is a high draft pick, why is it so hard for some to believe this kid is good? Have any of the doubters every seen him throw? It has been posted by some who have seen him in the fall, at showcases and in Jupiter, there have also been quotes from national publications posted. I don't get it.

Sweeper, how would you like it if Bulldog or myself said there is no way Patrick Towles has all the Scholarship offers listed," there's no way"?? I haven't seen him play, BUT I WOULD NEVER SAY THAT. I can be proud of any KY kid and his accomplishments, not just the Central Ky kids!!! To bad others can't say good things or recognize feats of kids outside of their area.

  5. NKUCLUB is right, you add rubber pieces to the heavy use areas, and brush it into the turf, wear is a concern, but compacting, (making it hard) is a major concern for high traffic areas, so it needs to be brushed, with the adding of rubber, to help keep it soft.

  6. Oldguy, I will agree that none of these kids can consistently hit 90 over an entire game but not many MLB pitchers can ("MOST" really hard throwers are closers). But if they can give you 3 iinning of heat, wouldn't you take it?

If you follow CovCath to Louisville for the LIT, Bryan Station has 2 very good Jr pitchers. Bollmer has already ready committed to UL, And Combs, a lefty, is really special.

Trinty and Lex Christian are both down this year, But late in your season Lex Cath comes to town on a Sat. They have Martin, Arthur(both Preseason all state) and Carroll who will be pitching somewhere in small college next year (Rose-Holman , Trancy, etc.?) you will love this kid, doesn't throw as hard, but never throws a good strike, and has a killer changeup.

I hope you get to see some of these kids play.
