  1. BC QB isn't the most glamorous position unless you like to hand the ball off. I respect the BC legacy, they were awesome to watch in the late '80's, through mid '90's but the game has changed while they have not.

I agree and Thompson is more than capable of handing the ball off and running a little. It's a shame Boone isn't going to utilize Trevan Brown at receiver again this year. It's such a waste of talent and would help the mix with the running game. Like Oppenheimer he's a hoss to bring down also after he catches the ball. If you're a RB Boone is the place to be but if you're a QB or Receiver Boone is the place NOT to be as a player. The traditional running game continues.....

  2. About what I excepted from the offense and until the CovCath "D" got tired from being literally on the field for 95% of the time, they (the "D") played rather well against a very strong "O" of Ryle

No one can except the "D" to stop anyone when the "O" goes 3 and out time after time after time!

BTW young Bir didn't play all that badly in his first start against a very and I mean very good Ryle team.

All the talk is going to be about Elliott but the star of this game for Ryle IMO was QB Hemple (sp?). The young man indeed impressed the heck out of me tonight! The best QB in NKy is this young man period!

BTW the CovCath Crazies easily had the largest student body at Nippert tonight and I was very proud of them especially when a few of the young Ryle fans came over to the CovCath side of the stands to mouth off. The CovCath Crazies kept their cool and just ignored them!

Next week HHS vs Ryle game should be a dandy.

I'd say a little too early in the season to say best QB in N Ky. I think, Lawrence (SK), Towles (Highlands) and Pike(Dixie) all will be extremely good this year. I have to see them all play before I can state best of N KY. Eah have their strengths over one another.

  3. Back and forth game. Oppenheimer ran for over 200 yards and Vocke looked good running for Beechwood. No big surprises here for either team. Defense for both teams were not very good. Boone's kicking game is non-existent. They never scored any extra points after TD's. JV teams played in 4th qtr. Ingolia was impressive at QB for Boone and the same for Colosimo for Beechwood.

  4. Zeke Pike was a beast last night! You can see why all the D-1 offers. He kind of sticks out on the field. lol He saw the field great, passes right on target, elusive in the pocket and great strength. Defensively he was awesome also, blocking 2 passes. Ryle looked very confused on offense out of the gate but Travis Elliot bailed them out with his speed with 2 long TD runs, after fumbling a couple times. I'm sure ryle will work the kinks out. Seth Bruns for Dixie is a blast to watch run the ball. He has major speed, amazing cuts and very elusive. He's my sleeper RB of Northern Ky. I would love to know what Seth Bruns runs the 40 in....Should be 2 very good teams this season with some exciting players to watch on each team.

  5. Travis Montgomery, from Boone County HS, did a 360 dunk, threw it off shot clock and dunked, bounce pass from co-player on gym balcony to dunk, and jump over Jack Stewart (Highlands) sitting in chair to dunk.

This was reported on the news in Ft. Wayne. They have videos of his dunks at http://www.wane.com, then go to local sports videos to view.

The article says he was edged out by local guy named Wilson.

    Congrats Travis!

Can't wait to follow your senior season at Boone.:ylsuper:

  6. Does anyone know how Travis Montgomery, (Boone Cty HS) playing with the Bulldogs, did in the dunk contest. He's been practicing throwing one off the shot clock and slamming it. Also how are Bulldogs doing in tourney? Travis is beginning to get some college looks. He'll be one of the top players in the 9th this year.

  7. Unless there's a health or family emergency issue, I'd be dragging my son by the back of the neck to the coach's office and getting back on that team to finish my senior year and not leave my teammates hanging. ( Of course at this stage it's too late) I don't care how miserable he was or upset. My son's high school career legacy would not be "quit my senior year with two weeks left". Especially after the years these two boys put into basketball. By the way did anyone see the kid in Schulze's uniform at the district game in the stands. That was a real classy move. These kids must really hate their teammates. This would only motivate me if I were still on the team.

    Good Luck Rebels.

  8. I've watched Sidney play now 6 or 7 times and am still amazed at her freakish athletic ability. some of the passes thrown to her seemed to be way over her head and she can go up and get them with 3 defenders around her. Her hands are like velcro. Jumping up to steal an inbounds pass for an easy lay-up. Everything is just effortless for her. Very very fun to watch.

I felt Ryle coach should have sat Jenna after 2 fouls in the first half but instead let her get a 3rd. I also would have brought her back in earlier in the 4th qtr. Dawn Johnson was not involved enough to utilize her athletic ability.

  9. Chase Stanley plays on Boones JV team and is the older brother to Brenden Stanley. Chase is a great athlete also. He has scored in double digits in most JV games, helped the team to a perfect season (21-0) and also was on JV baseball team this past season that won the JV Tourney. Great well balanced kid with great grades just like his brother!
