  1. I think Henley was at Holmes 10 years. Can you tell me the longest tenured active coach in NKY right now? I think off the top of my head it's Jim Hicks, Steiner, or the coach at Scott all at or just above 10 years. That's Pretty much status quo for a coach.

My guess is that Dave Faust (St. Henry) has the longest tenure currently at one school.

  2. Low risk.... with an small chance of helping the Reds out of the bullpen in some capacity later in the year.

He did have 38 K's in 25 innings pitched, and allowed only 15 hits. That is a very good ratio! However it does appear he will have to be work on his control because I doubt we will be seeing his fastball in the low or mid 90's anymore.

    I'm glad they signed him.

  3. Why does everyone think this is a good deal? The Reds owned his rights for the next three years regardless. Now they are paying him an avg. of 12.666 million dollars a year.

If he went to arbitration each of the next three years it was estimated that Joey would make 8.5-9.5 Million. Now they are paying him 3-4 Million more than they needed to. Why is this a good deal?

  4. I read an article recently about current players that will some day make the MLB Hall of Fame. Some of these players they had listed and some of them are my own opionions. Keep in mind, its not stars of the future that will continue to add to their stats. Its based on if they retired in the next year or two, would they get in when they are eligiable What do you think?

    Shortstop- Derick Jeter, Omar Visquel

3rd Base- Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones, (outside chance Scott Rolen)

  5. Only two National League teams last season had lower on-base percentages out of the leadoff spot than the Cincinnati Reds.

A free-agent leadoff man is available. He bats left-handed and could platoon with Jonny Gomes in left field.

His name: Scott Podsednik. And, yes, the Reds are interested in him, according to major league sources.

    Read the rest here

  6. According to John Fay (Beat writter for the Reds)...........

The Reds have had preliminary discussions with Johnny Cueto on a longterm deal. Cueto, like Votto and Bruce, is eligible for arbitration.

Cueto/Reds should expect a settling on a contact in this neighborhood:

A 4 year extension in the 26 mill range should be close

(3.50/5.25/7.00/8.75/10 mill option or 1.5 mill buyout)

  7. Big East......something fundamentaly sounds wrong with this.

They may be going into the "Big East" but in the "Central Time Zone." Hum.......

Sounds like MLB in the 70-80's when the Cincinnati Reds were in the "West Division"

  9. I don't think they should draft a QB, but the need to go out in free agency and get one!

This team is not young (Chad, Owens -1 yr deal, B. Williams, R. Williams, D. Jones, and might lose Joseph in FA) and can't afford to go through a couple of years of growing pains. There is a small margin of time for the Bengals to win. They need a veteran QB so they give themselves the best chance to win next year.
