From reading this thread, it seems like all the SK fans think that a win over Manual is a given and the Crimsons are nothing besides an afterthought to a possible matchup with St. X. There is definitely not much respect shown for the Manual team. I think this may be a big opportunity for the Crimsons to pull an upset. :sssh:

I think Sk respects most of the teams they play. But I also doubt Manual has respect for SK. Most of the time Louisville doesnt have respect for NKY.

I think the location should be neautral. In past years state has just been a home game for some teams.

I attended the Ryle vs Highlands game the first week and I can say there was around 10,000 people. There are two sets of stands and then people who stand along the fence line. It was so packed you could barely move.

Based on attendance figures from past championship games when the Tigers and Rocks are facing off, I think more people want to see the matchup than the numbers that don't.

 

No one in Kentucky wants to see that. people want a change, and maybe X will get knocked off by Ryle or even Sk. By the way... the only people who want X and Trinity in the finals, are their fans. The rest of Kentucky thinks otherwise. :taz:

I think that Saint Xavier is the team that everyone loves to hate. They are a true consistent winning program, and everyone wants to see something new. For instance last year when the rocks played SK. I dont think alot of people want to see X and Trinity play for the title. Nonetheless Ryle better bring their "A" game.

I think the key is Simon Kenton's O-line. They will have to come up big in this one.

I want to see Dixie come out on top, but I think Highlands will be too much, unless the Bluebirds decide to play cocky. Then maybe Dixie can spark something.

I believe he is out for the rest of the season. But I am not sure.

Maybe the home crowd will be a factor, as most home games for the Pioneers are packed, since this is a playoff game look for the rest of Independence to be a ghost town other than at Chlorine Menefee.

I think Manual will have a difficult time stopping SK' offense because of their ability to run and pass from multiple formations. \

Ponzer, Brown, And Pace need to be senior leaders. Ponzer will run the point, and Brown will need to be strong in the paint the rest will fall in place and the other players will play soundly and to their roles

simon kenton has a lot of weapons Chambers is a rising star, sorrell can shoot but has had a tendency to turn the ball over and then senior Zack Bishop plays on ball defense like a madman, possibly the best ive seen, hes in your face and makes you think about every move. inside for the pioneers could be a weakness as far as siz they have a few tall players but they lack size (Mulberry,Grey) look for Sk to find their groove mid season

Seriously!! I am so tired of everyon not giving Simon Kenton the credit they deserve. The folks on this message board that are downing SK mostly likely have not been to any of our games. I have been to everyone one of our games and I can tell you from first hand experience that SK plays hard and plays with an extreme amount of talent and HEART!!! We have proven that we are not a team to pass by and say their "JUST AVERAGE" We have a stocked Defense with boys who each have special talents that make it hard to run all over them. They are determined and never give up. They are a great group of boys who have more HEART than any other defensive team around. I can't anything more about how awesome and talented our Offense is. The whole team along with coaches are a special group of men and young men. Give us some credit. We WILL beat Manual because WE ARE the better team. Miles Simpson is NOT just an average player and our QB is tougher than any QB I have seen lately. Manual only BEAT Butler 20-10. We beat Butler 49-7. That is saying something about SK!!!

Yes Simon Kenton deserves more credit then they are getting but we can't compare scores and write off Manual. They still are a good football team who has great speed and size. I look for for the game to be a slugfest and who wants it more.

Both teams coming off impressive wins. who takes it home Louisville or Northern kentucky

I think the Tigers will have their hands full with the well-balanced pass/run offense of the Raiders for three quarters before getting some breathing space due to their depth in the 4th quarter.

 

Ryle's defense must be fairly strong also since they held Highlands to 37 and 31 points in two games against them this season.

 

Prediction: Saint Xavier 38 - Ryle 21

X is obviously an extremely dangerous team, but ryle can also be very dangerous with elliot and hempel in the backfield. My senses say x might come in a little cocky so look for a better game than expected i say...
