Wendeln from Boone County, plays well on both sides of the ball and special teams. Not very big in size but, makes up for it in speed and ability to play. Has a good head on his shoulders on the field and in the classroom.

What's the rule on kids that have played a varsity sport in a Kentucky school then transfering to a school in the Cincinnati area?
-
My pick would be the Boone - Beechwood game @ Beechwood but, this game is a scrimmage game not a regular season game.
-
They travel to Boone County on the 4th of September.
-
I haven't heard to much on how they look. It is still early, they just started 2 a days on Monday. I saw Nate Alford throwing the other day and he looks very good. If they play like last season, it should make for an interesting 6A district this season.

Does anyone know when the NKY Football Preview comes out in the Enquirer?
-
Boone lost 4 starters (Lokesak, Sciammanna, Carroll and Humrick). But they do return Cotton, Alford, Dunaway, and Laumann in the field. They also return 21 of their 24 wins on the mound. They only lost 1 pitcher.
Boone did lose 6 very good seniors but, they will have some good players moving up from the JV Regional Champ team. Wendeln who hit over .550 in the JV tournment plays outfield, catches, and also can play third. Stanley who played SS and pitched. Teegarden who played 2B and pitched. Then there are Crabtree, Montgomery, Alexander, Carzolli, and Baker. All very good players.

That is so good to hear. He has been through a lot. I am sure he is having a blast just being on the field again.
The boys are glad to have him on the field with them. He is a big asset to the team.
-
Are you sure about Leeke? I didn't know he was playing baseball.
Yes, very sure. He is doing very well even though he didn't play school ball this past season.
-
I know Alex Hegge from Bellevue is on the team.
Also, from the following schools.
Beechwood: Bertke, Larimore, Leeke, C. Johnson
Boone: Wendeln, Teegarden
Ryle: Hensley
Holy Cross: N. Ritter, T. Johnson, Jehn
Cov Cath: Hoffer, Cottingham
Grant County: J. Cummins
Conner: J. Roberts

What happened to Bertke?
Had emergency surgery last night to remove his appendixs.

The Bluegrass Lions 16U won their second straight tournment in as many weeks. They won the Randy Ruwan Memorial @ Oak Hills High on June 14th, then traveled to Jeffersonville, TN., and won the Tennessee Baseball Classic this past weekend. Congrats to all of the players.
Also, I would like to wish Josh Bertke a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on the field soon. You will be missed this weekend.

Does anyone know if any NKY teams are going this Saturday besides Boone County?
-
Good athlete that is for sure. But it will be hard to tell how good of a receiver he is playing for Boone.
This is true, hopefully with Alford back at QB and the arm he has they will try and use it more to go along with the RB's they have to make it a more balanced offense. We'll see...
-
What is his name? Tell us some more about his size, speed, quickness, etc., if you don't mind.
Last name is Wendeln, wears #7 for Boone. He's about 5'9" has good speed and quickness. No other stats as of that.

As far as history, I didn't realize Boone and Highlands had a history. If they have a history, won't be close in who's favor.
-
Does anyone have any opinions and thoughts on 16U teams in NKY is year?
-
With Quainoo, Oppenheimer, and Collinsworth in the top ten RB's in NKY, should make for a very interesting game this season when Boone travels to Highlands to play.
-
Boone County will have their JV QB from last season moving up to WR this coming season. Good kid, did very well last season throwing and running as a QB. Should be interesting to watch.
-
Boone odd team out... Why?
-
Way to go Daniel, NKU has definitely got themselves a great student athlete. It's been a pleasure watching you play baseball and football these last 3 years. Good luck!!!!!!! Wish you all the best and hope to see you on the fireground sometime in the future.

How about the sophomores from Boone?
Wendeln
Carzolli
Crabtree
Brodsky
Poweleitt
Seems like these guys played one hell of a JV Regional tournment.

Oppenheimer is doing a very good job running the ball, pounding out the tough yards and getting positive yardage on every carry. He even caught a pass for a touchdown against Scott County. You can check out his stats at MaxPreps.com.
