#7 Wendeln (1) to start the scoring in the bottom of the 7th.

  3. Boone should be the number one ranked team in NKY and the favorite to win the 9th region. My previous favorite, Cov Cath, comes in at number 2.

Congrats Dougie on another great outing. I see #7 swiped another bag. How many does he have on the year now?

According to the stat keeper at Boone #7 has 12 stolen bases so far on the year. He had a good game against Anderson Thursday night @ Midland's field. He went 2-4, 2B in the bottom of the fifth with 2 outs and runners on 1st & 2nd to tie the game at 2. Then in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs he hit a single to get on for the tying run but the next hitter hit into a fielders choice to SS to end the game.

  4. Trevan Brown is a beast. He is a blast to watch play. He has started out great with back to back double double games with 25 and 23 points. He received player of the game from Tri State Internet Sports. Walton tried to get rough with him and talk some trash but it seemed to only motivate him more. I've seen Hodges, Pike, and Staufer play so far this year and it's hard to believe Trevan hasn't been in the Best Big Man discussions this year. On a side note Boone cheering section gave some good laughs all in good taste. It's good to see the support.

Does any one have any pictures of the student section and what they did?

  5. Boone's defence did it's job again. It held the Cardinals 3 times in the red zone for no points and giving the offence the ball back to score and time to run the clock down so Scott County with no timeouts left and very little time to mount a drive to score. This group played amazing. There's quote from a movie, " Winners always want the ball when the game is on the line." Well, this defence wanted the ball and got it for the offence.

Congrats to the whole Boone County football team. Keep it up boys.

  6. Are you speaking from pure speculation or from someone who was at the 7 on 7? Boone has been throwing three different qb's this week and I was told earlier they did fairly well in the 7 on 7 against BW. Just curious about where you got your information.

I too am very curious where this info came from. My son plays for Boone and was there playing and said it was BW getting handled by Boone. And to answer the question yes, Schwartz did take reps and threw the ball.

  7. Question on #3. When you say raising money to upgrade facilities, would you consider a very large donation by one individual a success in fund raising efforts? I was once told that one person donated pretty close to 90% of the funds for the new field turf. Now that could just be someone blowing smoke, but if every Boone County high school had someone affiliated with their program that generous with their money, they would all be able to upgrade to that status.

On a football note: Ryle is doing great things and has some very good talent this year. I have seen Elliot, Hemple, and a few other Raiders several times this year at various college camps. I can't say the same for other local area programs. They are working to get better and it should pay off with a very good season.

You just can't have someone donate money to a school in Boone County. It has to be willed to the school. Take Boone County for example, Shaun Alexander was going to donate money to upgrade their facilities but the school board said no unless he was going to do it for the other 2 schools at that time. To me the school shouldn't to be raising money, the school board should be finding way to help all the schools. Look what Kenton County has done with their 3 high schools. Except an indoor practice facility maybe to much. But, at least they are upgrading.

  8. Last year Boone's season depended on how well the quarterback performed with the pass and if he could pose a threat with his speed. The QB position didn't accelerate to the passing or run threat level many had hoped, and I feel the same will be this year as far as an area needing to improve. Bryson Thompson has been named the QB and he will have a tough job on his hands and a load of pressure from teammates and fans.

On the defensive side Boone just needs to get stronger. A majority of the times last year, kids were in position to make tackles, but due to lack of strength and experience they weren't getting the job done. Boone faces a rough road with Henry Clay, Anderson and Highlands all at the beginning part of the season, so they will need a senior to step up and get them through those games and on to the district games. LEADERSHIP will be key winning or losing!

Rummor has it the QB position could be up for grabs at Boone. Heard through the grapevine that Bryson Thompson might not play this coming season. I will have to wait and see when summer practice starts.

  9. Boone does have one that covers the whole infield. Donated by the Florence Freedom when they changed their field over to turf. Thanks to the Freedom, if not for the tarp Boone Co. would not have been able to play ther for the last 2 seasons.
