  1. The East defense was amazing. Several oppurtunities by the West and they just could not seem to get anything going. I thought for sure when Rigdon, Simpson, Quainoo, and Walker were all on the field the West would make some big time plays, but it never happened. Buckler and Johnson the two smallest guys on the filed really did shine and at runningback. However it was an awesome o-line they were running behind. It was a great game and as most figured a defensive game. Only having five days to practice does not allow the offense to really gel and get things running on all cylinders. So the defense just reads and reacts to the simple plays that are put in.

  2. Well here is what I remember seeing on the roster when my coach showed it to me. I apologize for any names I missed I don't have a roster in front of me and only saw it for about ten minutes. I do know Roller and Collinsworth are not playing but there are 5 Highlands players. There are a few more NCC, CC, and Newport players too. My coaches (Dayton) are coaching the East squad. I heard West and Simpson are playing for the West!

Bellevue: Hegge, Lyvers, Buckler, Wills, Daughtery

  3. Russell Shearer has been hired as the football coach at Bellevue, according to school athletic director Nick Wilson. Shearer previously was the defensive dacks coach and video coordinator for the University of the Cumberlands. He is a 1997 graduate of Estill County High School.

This from Ryan Ernst blog. The question is why would they hire someone who has to take college courses this summer to coach? What would happen if he was to not pass those classes?

I agree veer is not the best option for this team, but just what I have heard from a few people. Slater needs to run north and south big powerful runner. I also heard that is what the delay was all about. I mean the guy should be fine. Best of luck to coach shearer.

  4. Mr. Ridder did not retire. He left our school and now works for Bellevue. He would be a great coach and he is such a motivational speaker. He came to speak to us last year before a game and he sure can get you ready to play. However, I don't think he is interested in coaching again.

  5. Coach Montgomery said it is not official yet, but Bellevue has a great candidate who will do well for them. Apparently the biggest factor was there was no teaching position available for him so it had to do nothing with age or experience. Good Luck Coach Montgomery and I hope you are here until I graduate at least.

  6. Well as a Dayton player we are happy coach Montgomery did not get the job. I'll tell you how much we like our coach. You would think everybody here would be mad at him for leaving, but we were not going to be. We would have been happy for him as we were for for coach Rice. He's a great guy and a better coach. As far as the success at the jv level it is froshmore and we only played that. We only used freshman and sophmores and not a few juniors. Plus we did not have two of our better athletes play last year the Smith kid and Rogg. So not a good comparison and I know all my Bellevue friends who play wanted him to get the job and even their parents as well told me a few times.

  7. Look I'm very close with Jordan Smith. He has a lot of potential. Last year was his first time ever playing QB. He has a lot to learn but he is working very hard right now with coach Deaton. Deaton said this is going to be our guy (QB). He is left handed and 6 ft 5. If he keeps working hard and gets better everyday, this kid will have a bright future with football. Where was Rogg at this year? How can he be a leader when he didn't even play this year. Jordan had to step up and play. Everybody will see what this kid is made of. You will be proven wrong!

  8. They have a young solid QB, I think his name is Jordan Smith he is going to be a junior and he is 6-5, he has decent speed and is a lefty and with a little bit more work he will be a heck of a player and a leader this year, I saw him play on the JV level and he dominated and had a lot of rushing tds, so I think Dayton has a good 2010 QB on there hands.
