This is a shocker. Campbell County was one of the better teams in NKY.
-
This is a bargain in the 4th round. This kid putting on some muscle and throwing from the legs.... could hit a 100. Always said that he looks like he is barely throwing and hitting 90.
-
lol.... 3.67 innings? You realize that is half the game? I'm a fan of both teams. If Dreves pitches or Cramer pitches 3.67 innnings of that game then Cov Cath is in Lex. You know what Highlands has been for the last 4 years... Doty, Doty, Doty Rom.
Sorry... Raiser, Doty, Doty, Rom.
-
What??? You do realize that Rom only pitched the last 3.67 innings correct? Cramer was effective in the time that he pitched in the game.

Cramer did a fine job halting the momentum of CCH.
This cannot be a theme. Make no mistake about it.... If HHS throws anyone not named Rom in that game, CC is down state right now.
-
Congrats, Jeff. Hopefully this is Stephenson's job if he wants it. Very good coach.
-
Who are the expected pitchers?
1st game... I would expect Casteel v Haddle. Only a guess. No idea in the 2nd game.
-
He is talking about #1 pitchers for all 8 teams facing off. How could you possibly misinterpret that.....
I forgot that sarcasm doesn't exist in here unless you use 'lol'. lol

This from the Cincy Enqurier sums it up:
"There’s really not a good draw out there and not a bad draw,” said Highlands baseball coach Jeremy Baioni. “It’s going to be ones vs. ones. It’s my favorite holiday of the year. Get out and see everyone throwing their best, and we’ll see what we’re made of.”
Chalkboard for Beechwood (a 2 seed)? I think so. Game on.
-
I'll add Johnson from BW.
-
Stallman had very good command today. BW was off balance the entire game. Hats off to the Colonels... going into the 9th they look really good.
-
Just a question: If Krumps missed 2 games this season (both wins) and his assistants were the coaches.... does Krumps get credit?
-
Nicholas County will play at home versus the 9th region rep, Beechwood, on Saturday the 28th. The winner advances to Whitaker Park May 5th.
-
Maybe so. I just don’t think it has as much to do with regional championships as it does playing time.
Only Highlands has won a 9th Region recently. So only one coach knows what he’s doing in the region? I think all of the D1 signings at Highlands indicates that CovCath does not have superior talent.
All of Cov Caths talent was on display last night. ..... along with all of Highlands "d1" talent. I would say that Cov Cath has superior talent.

Every year Covington Catholic has the best crop of male athletes in the ninth region, in NKY, and very seldom do they win the region in baseball. What makes me think it is time for him, (krumps), to go, resign, get fired... is that with this talent pool every year, with all the players they have... he comes up lacking. They have hired a young progressive basketball coach and what?.... he has turned them into a perennial powerhouse. They took decent football program, hired a young progressive coach and he turned them into a powerhouse. You have the same athletes year in and year out and you put a (with all do respect) a relic of a coach on the bench and you get the same result year in and year out. He cuts kids he shouldn't cut, he plays kids that shouldn't be playing, and he bunts we he shouldn't, he bunts when he shouldn't, he bunts when should not and he doesn't bunt when he should. It MIGHT be time to put a younger, more progressive mind at the helm. Or, does a person like this decide when HE wants to leave? And, before you can respond with records of the past.... wouldn't any coach have those records if they coached there?

Just looked at the last couple nights scores and there is no 'stats' column in the scores. Last year was the first year that KHSAA was requiring stats. Was there so much of a push back that they just squashed it?
-
Wow. This has to be considered an upset.
-
I was corrected.... Gunner Smith did make the list.
-
Excellent question. I believe most are, but cannot accurately answer you. I would imagine it's like basketball where a very high percentage are.
The reason I asked was that the nky schools listed had multiple kids nominated... some, IMO, I wouldn't consider all state caliber... while kids like Castleman, Coldiron and Gunner Smith, also from nky, were left off. I'm thinking that members can nominate players (usually their own players) and schools of the kids I mentioned, maybe are not members? Just a thought.
-
Odd question, but is every school a member of this association?
-
Yes. Thanks for the correction. I was close. lol

Brady Barker for Campbell County is pretty good and he's been pitching Varsity since 7th or 8th grade.
Landon Scott, for SK, will be one to watch from the 2020 class. He's pitched up a year for At The Yard.
-
He's definitely the best sophomore picture out there there's not even anybody close

Which pitchers looked good for Beechwood?
Nick Jackman looked very solid. Like Rom, Jackman pitched 2 scoreless innings.

Wish I was there to stand and clap for Drew. What a great high school career. Well done, kid.
