Draw could be some interesting matchups, I would not want to draw Elliott or West, could also be Regional final!!!

Both these teams could be a tough out down in Morehead. Really wouldn't want to draw either one of them in the first round down there.

I agree, a week for these coaches to prepare will make them a tough draw!!!!

The Eagles had this one where they wanted with Ashland forced to foul in the last two minutes. We just didn't convert at the line. Back to work and both of these theams could do well @ regional.

I think all teams can do well until they run into Elliott.

This game was a chess match with 2 of the better coaching staffs in the region, each team had good game plans, each team took away the others best options. Russell took away the size inside by double teaming the big guys inside, Lewis made it tough on Skaggs to get an open look. But other players stepped up for their teams, the end result was Russell had no answer for Smith creating and getting to the lane for good looks. Both of these teams improved through out the year and are playing their best ball here at the end of season. Congrats to both teams on advancing to the regional tourney and Good Luck!! Lewis pep section and fans were super as always at this time of the year, make plans for next Saturday at Morehead.:jump:

Winners need to stay away from West Carter and Runner-ups trying to stay away from Elliott!!! IMO

I am neither from Elliott County or Carter County, however I was at the game and other games that Elliott has played with Billman as a ref. I will have to agree with Dale 100%. I have wittnesses Dales son get hammered to the hardwood and Billman within 6 to 8 feet from the hammer and he just curled his lips up as he does a lot like nothing happened. This has happened over more than one year, so I too am of the opinion that Billman has a vendetta againt someone at Elliott, and more than likely Dale, because he is so vocal when he thinks the calls aren't good calls. So you have an opinion from an out of County basketball fan.

Dale is vocal about every call and every ref!! I am like GoRadio, I don't think Billman has anything against anyone when he is officiating, I think he is a good official.

BTW, first comment Dale, just razzin a little, I know most is in good fun!! Another thing, I really enjoy watching your kids play.

I do this every year and its kinda scary how often I have gotten it right, missed last year though. My prediction of the draw:

I agree also. I believe Rowan, Elliott, East are teams I would want to stay away from.

Thanks. Did the Lions play a box-and-1 on Boyles or did they play mostly straight up man? I think when the 2 teams met earlier in the season a box-and-1 was played most of the game.

M2M was played with some adjustments, not to guard some outside the paint, help off on Boyles, make some go left, some put on the floor.

I think Kouns is a top notch official.

Congrats to the Lions. I was off on my prediciton. Does anyone have stats for the game? Or can you take a guess at the point totals for the individuals from both teams?

Thompson for Lewis played very well, had 27 pts and 12 rebs. Smith had 19 pts and played well. Cropper had a good game and hit a couple 3's and finished with 9 pts. Pruitt done a good job of playing D on Boyles, he made some tough shots and had 20+ but on 8-21 from the field, Boyles kept them in the game as he is an outstanding player, Lewis had a great game plan and made Boyles work hard for everything he got.

Seems the integrity,honesty,fair play and sportsmanship of the 16th is lacking at least by several officials. East/Elliot, Greenup/Russell & Ashland/Rosehill. How can we ask our young athletes to act with these basic attributes and as representatives of KHSAA as a whole you are lacking them yourself. Seems like if you don't have the talent it resorts to 8 on 5 to win for certain programs not all referees of the 16th resort to these tactics but seem to be intimidated or to insecure to do anything about it. How can the powers that be look their self in the mirror. One more dig of the spur- How did any of them earn the right to go to Rupp or Diddle, other than the reason everyone gets a chance they need to earn it by their actions :deadhorse:

I was not at the other games you mentioned, I was at the Greenup/Russell game and the officiating was good in this game. Not everyone sees these games the same way, as I have said before, the officials are an easy target for the team that lost to blame someone other than there team. Not saying this is the case in the Ashland/RH game because I was not there, there are some bad officials and some good ones, some mentioned in this thread are good refs, but I agree some are not!! I just wanted to point out as a nuetral spectator in the GC/Russell game, I thought they done a good job.

I don't care who they get in round one, as long as they get to play Bath County sometime in the tournament. :ylsuper:
