  1. Joe Jaggers? Wow

I guess he didn't like Bob Schneider getting ahead of him on the all-time wins list. He's been retired now as a head coach for what 4-5 years

I am sure you are joking, but just in case you weren't Coach Jaggers isn't jealous at all of Coach Schneider. Coach Jaggers has been out of coaching for a while, but trust me, he still has the fire more than ever. I was fortunate to play for him and coach with him. He gave me my 1st job and I consider him a mentor.

Coach Jaggers in my opinion needs to be coaching. When you see, Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno still making a difference. He knows the game like no other.

  2. 5 out of the 8 teams in the state finals are CATHOLIC PRIVATE SCHOOLS. What a percentage!!!! :sssh:

I am rooting for all the PRIVATE SCHOOLS to win so that the state can fully recognize that just maybe  , just maybe, the playing field isn't as level as it could be.

    Go ST.X :thumb:

    Go Trinity

    Go Newport Central :D

    Go Lexington Catholic

    Go Owensboro Catholic

  3. Tigers, you looked magnificient tonight. I was especially happy to see the great improvement in the play of the special teams over the performances in the previous two games. With 10 scores being registered tonight (8 tds. and 2 fgs.), I got to listen to the St. X. Fight Song more than I have heard it in years. Besides giving kudos to the players and coaches, I would also like to salute the St. X. fans who came in droves and were loud and enthusiastic in their cheering support. :thumb:

:dancingpa STATE FINALS...HERE COME THE TIGERS!! :dancingpa

Congrats ST.X go beat them SHAMROCKS!!! Again, ONLY, those pesky young men of HARDIN COUNTY were able to give those TIGERS a game.

  4. It was a great day for an all star football game. Both sides played hard and there were some hard hits. The fans really turned out and the association did a wonderful job of putting on this event. Great Job Coach Scroggins, Jackson, Washington, Walker, Webb, and the others. Joe Hall of Central Hardin was the offensive MVP.

  5. I'm not saying there's not a lot of talent on the rosters, even without the four teams still in the playoffs.

I just can't believe they would have the game the same day as the semifinals. Seems like the KHSAA wouldn't allow that in-season

Plus, not sure they will draw flys as far as a crowd

Not many games are going on this Friday in the Metro area right?

  6. I was fortunate to stand on the sidelines for this game. Wow, Henry Clay has some weapons. I thought this team was extremely athletic. They have two guards who are in the back field when the QB gets the ball. They raise heck on the field.

Without a doubt the most dangerous player is Frank Minnefield's son. Great football awareness, cuts on a dime and can accelerate.

Overall team has above average size and speed. Watch out also for Shane Boyd's brother, he lines up at receiver.

  7. I agree with this statement. Once again, Coach Redman's press defense has cost him severely. Not to take anything away from John Hardin, but there is no way that a team as talented as Male should score 47 points and lose, other than through a self-destructive defensive scheme.

Oxnard this is a fact that can't be disputed! Not excluding the great play by John Hardin, the only reason Male lost this game was because of Male's defensive scheme. PERIOD!!! You just can't keep giving up big play after big play. It seems as though his mind set is that we are just going to out score you. Well, that didn't happen!!! This Male team has too much talent offensively to lose a game where they score 47 points. Heck any plain base defense without stunting wouldn't have given up that many points. At some point during this game he should have adjusted to a more conventional defense. Just my novice opinion. And I am with you!

  8. For the simple fact that Male dominated John Hardin last year, in which Male had a young team, they could perceive John as a push-over, since Male returned most of their starters. If I am not mistaken, Male started the playoffs last year in the same fashion they started vs North Hardin this year. ON FIRE :flame: very, very :fire: Rolling up over 600yds of offense!

Male will have a tough time because one: Any coach who was beaten badly the previous year always works extra hard to make sure that doesn't happen again vs the same team. Human Nature! John's coaches are working their tales off right now! two: Jefferson county schools just don't play as well away from Jefferson county. I don't know why, but it seems that way. three: John Hardin has absolutely NOTHING to lose so they may play very lose with great crowd support. Male will be uptight!

  9. Without a doubt, Male is a top notch team derserving of a #2 ranking. This team was so focused. Certainly they didn't overlook North Hardin this year. North Hardin didn't have any answer for Male's offense.

Male must not look past John Hardin, John will be seeking redemption for last season. This could prove benefical for the Bulldogs of John.

Will this be the only game is the state where each team has the same MASCOT???? :argue:

  10. Since you are dead set not to agree scholarships given and financial aid given to a student at a private isn't an advantage over a student a public school (because all public school students are on tax payer aid), let me posed this to you.

Can I take my tax payer aided money and recruit a fine academic student to go to my school? Can I go to Shelby, Bullitt, Hardin, Oldham, Indiana? Not in my County!

If anything, the Catholic schools have the BIggest advantage over others in the state because they can say, ACADEMICS is our selling point. We can recruit or our school will not surive. How can KHSAA dispute that?

  11. I made a post not too long ago suggesting that The hype over Trinity's success maybe slightly overblown.

I said this because I had witness football from all over These United States, and though I am impressed with Trinity's success. I am fully aware of their advantages.

To reinforce my view point, I stated I know that overall, football is better in Texas, California, and Florida. And if you didn't believe that check the rosters of the Major universities in Kentucky and they are full of athletes from those states.

Well the Trinity faithful came out swinging and assured to put me in my place. And you know what their main DEFENSE WAS, concerning why Texas, Cali, and Florida football is perhaps better???????????????????????????????????

    TheMan, you will LOVE THIS!!!!!

    Would you believe they asked?????

and I quote "does anyone have the total population figures for the states of CA, TX, FL? how about KY?"

And how about about this one THEMAN!!! and I quote "The depth in the aforementioned states is unreal and dwarfs anything we may have. Sure that is a result of population, but nevertheless it contributes to a better product as a whole."

Finally they laid the facts out to me! TheMan, you really will love this one! Speaking of the populations of the states I mentioned And I quote "that is a pool 17.5 times larger to fish in"

How about that? Texas, Florida, and Cali are better because they have a larger population, but Trinity isn't better because they have a larger population?????? Is it me or something smells Stinky!

Guys, Trinity has an advantage! A Big One!

    :lol: :lol: :lol::fight:

Trinity does not "recruit." The name Trinity, the tradition of the school does all the recruiting that is needed. Trinity offers financial assistance to all students who qualify for it, athlete or not. The athletes do not recieve preferential treatment at Trinity. They are dealt with just like every other student. When it comes down to it, thats what they really are, students.

Are you saying, no one from the football staff is evaluating talent at the middle school level in Louisville's youth football leagues? Including the catholic leagues?

There is no way Trinity or any private school would admit encouraging a young person to come to its school and to suggest if you can't afford it there are ways the institution can help with tution.

It seems that everytime this thread comes up, people just say the same things over and over again. Just read the previous threads and stop beating a horse that has been dead for a long time.

  13. Sportsfan says

I'm sorry but your whole post sounded to me like one big excuse for why your team can't compete with the big guns.

First of all, I am not giving excuses! Just facts that are important to this post! I understand you feeling attacked for what you have accomplished. Secondly, I find it in poor taste that your arrogants would bring you to say that MY team can't compete with the big guns. You have no idea where I coach, who I coach with and what we are accomplishing with our young men. You have no idea what we do, all you know is that WE didn't beat Trinity. There are many ways to measure your program? Wins, Championships, District and Regional titles are all ways and certainly goals, but that isn't the biggest picture.

The depth of your vengeance has clouded what has been said.

    1. Trinity has MORE Boys!

    2. The school has to recruit to stay alive!

    3. The school offers financial assistance to students/athletes!

Are these facts? You can answer that one. If they are facts, do they help increase a program's ability to be successfull? Answer that once also!

What hasn't been said, that hasn't clouded MY judgement!

    1. The players have to practice and play the game, just like everyone else!

    2. The coaches have to coach and coach the game, just like everyone else!

    3. The football tradition of the school just breeds success!

    4. The hard work those young men go through to become a good football player!

I don't understand why YOUR Faithful, can't look beyond your own noses and see what many others CAN see! It is not an attack upon what you have accomplished. Can anyone take that away. Heck NO! And if I were a Trinity player past or present, I would acknowledge we have some advantages, but we still have to play the game and that is the beauty of it all. And it is the nature of the BEAST to browbeat the ones On Top! Just don't take it so personal!

  14. He has touched on a subject that the Catholic schools hate to discuss. There is an advantage PERIOD. Numbers are important and the ability to recruit (for academic purposes only) and offer financial help to those interested (for academic purposes only).

St.X may not have as many football state championships, but check the other sports. If I am not mistaken, St.X basically wins the overall state championship of all sports every year. If my memory serves me correct, ST.X won the Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country, Swimming, and maybe wrestling last year. This is not uncommon for St.X. Now is this because they have the best athletes, coaches or is it numbers and recruiting? I know what I think.

Not to take away anything from their coaches, but they would not be as successfull if they were in a normal situation. Beatty at Shawnee, Bullitt Central, or Atherton? Would you here all that about him? He has my respect because I have seen up close how his team execute, but I am very understanding of the situation he is in.
