Owen has to be the biggest team in the region, right? I believe they go 6'8, 6'7 and 6'5 across the front line. Seems to cause match up problems for whomever they will play in the region.
You would think that, yet Williamstown gave them problems...they have one kid thats.....maybe 6'3
-
in the 2000's they only had 4 winning seasons with two of them being 2 or 3 games above 500. I just wonder what the problem has been. I am not putting them down and if it sounds like i am please understand that I am not trying to. Something has to be going on, they are a big school with alot of students just wonder why they have been struggling.
I agree. They have struggled these past few years.....i believe every school has its cycles. the early 2000's is just not Grants. Most of it is due to the simple fact that there hasn't been good talent come through Grant County until this past year, except for a couple years when Tyler Jones, Allan Schaffer, and Dustin Plunket played. However I will be expecting big things to be coming out of the future classes.

Yes you are correct, I am not saying they didnt only that they had a bad year. that means one year. Grant has had a few years that they didnt win with the expectations that I think they had. Remember I am talking about Grant in that post and not trying to add Simon in there.
Actually, you did say they haven't had a quality win and I definitely wouldn't of called it a bad year. Grant hasn't came up with 19 wins in the past three or fours years. I do agree with you that they didn't accomplish as much as they should of, such as last years district championship,as well as a regional finalist.

Simon Kenton in an easy victory.
Easy victory?? Both teams lose key players and bring back key players...No victory for either team is going to be "easy" this entire year when they play each other IMO.
-
I watched the video....I would hate to of been the ref to be having to call this one....

Why is everyone so negative towards Owen County's post players?
I have to kinda agree!! However I think everyone is just annoyed how some of the biggest men in the 8th Region play on the perimeter??
-
Owen County by double digits.
-
Sorry did not know that. i would say East jessamine and Shelby were good wins. I think Simon had a down year but still good wins. just think the last couple of years they have not had the quality wins that they could have. With the exception of last year.
The only two teams that SK beat that grant didn't is Fairview and North Laurel and GC didn't even play them. So if you're saying Grant didn't get the "quality" wins, neither did SK
-
Should be a good game. I'll take Grant in a close one. Grants guard play will be just fine. Jalen Kinmon has stepped up to the PG, Josh Blackburn, Jordan Cummins, Zach Wright, and Trevor Hunt have all stepped up and done a fantastic job so far! GOOD LUCK BRAVES!!!!
-
GC....by a wide margin.
-
What defense did GC play?? WV must not of shot the ball well at all!!
-
Grant coming off a win against Bourbon County by almost 30. Simon Kenton comes off loss to Conner. These two teams will meet at SK on the 11th.
Any Thoughts?
-
Yes Walton does have a good team this year. Does Henry County? Who do they return?
-
-
....anyways, I'll take GC b double digits.
-
I'll take SK on this one by 4.
-
Even though it was a loss for W-Town. Great Job.
Congrats to Carrol!!!

He has the chance to win the district this year and the maybe next if his guards grow up (underclassmen). Speaking of the district, what's going on Grant County and the Coaching Staff? Did they get a Coach from Williamstown in and lose a Coach from the staff? I was in Grant County the other day and heard there was some upset families in the program.
The JV Coach-Joe Utter- Is now the Assisant Varsity Coach. Dustin Plunkett who was originally a player for Ron Kinmon has coached at Williamstown the past two years, has now joined the Braves staff as JV coach. Tyler Jones resigned as Freshman coach and was replaced by Sean West.
-
To say they are underrated might be true. However, I seriously doubt they make it out of their district.:sssh:
I agree.
-
You are correct and SK beat WV at WV and won the district.
I'm not entirely sure what this exactly means???
Are you predicting the future?
Otherwise you are mistaken.
-
You are correct and SK beat WV at WV and won the district.
Its nice you're a fan of SK but let's not get carried away....
-
No way, they will get pushed all over the court.
So you are saying SK is the best team in the district??? If I'm not mistaken and correct me if I am wrong but didn't Walton beat SK at Simon there last encounter?
-
I'm still working on my "official":lol::lol: rankings...collecting info... but right now, IMO, the road to Rupp goes through Shelbyville.
I agree with you that shelby and S. Oldham are the top teams but I also believe SK and Owen are being overated as they have been in the past. I also have to say that Walton would be higher than SK and Owen as well. Walton returns everyone and beat SK in there last matchup.
-
I agree, Papa. My rankings would probably look more like this:
1. Shelby
2. Anderson
3. North Oldham
4. South Oldham
5. Simon Kenton
6. Owen County
7. Gallatin County (I want to hear more about these transfers)
8. Oldham County
9. Henry County
10. Walton-Verona
Pretty close to Mickey's...
I would have to believe that Grant Co. would have to be into consideration if we are going to put SK and Owen county in the top 6. Grant brings back three of their starters, three of their top rebounders, two of there top scorers, and they added a new coach to take over the JV that will be very promising and be a quality addition to the team.
