505.010 Entrapment.
(1) A person is not guilty of an offense arising out of proscribed conduct when:
(a) He was induced or encouraged to engage in that conduct by a public servant or by a person acting in cooperation with a public servant seeking to obtain evidence against him for the purpose of criminal prosecution; and
(b) At the time of the inducement or encouragement, he was not otherwise disposed to engage in such conduct.
(2) The relief afforded by subsection (1) is unavailable when:
(a) The public servant or the person acting in cooperation with a public servant merely affords the defendant an opportunity to commit an offense; or
(b) The offense charged has physical injury or the threat of physical injury as one (1) of its elements and the prosecution is based on conduct causing or threatening such injury to a person other than the person perpetrating the entrapment.
(3) The relief provided a defendant by subsection (1) is a defense.

Word play is very important here. A public servant can't say "If I give you $20, will you let me in?" But he can say, "Is there anyway I can get into the game without a ticket?"
You are correct. I would be curious to know how the situation was handled by the officer. My first thought was entrapment, like someone said above, but I suppose it could have happened like you stated above. Either way, I think the reason this was reported is because it says the guys is a school board member.

I'll say it....Tim Couch

Henderson is a lead-pipe lock for the 2st ballot, and I think it is deserving. I'm hoping Dale Murphy get's in, if not this year, then hopefully next. He deserves it.

You guys really think that Scott County played down to there competition, for the facts Logan plays against many of your great teams every summer, they have always done very well against many of them.
They may not look like much, but are actually pretty good, or maybe they just get everybody to play down to them when they compete. Lets see, they beat Shelby Valley by about 15 this summer, and Scott Co. beat them by 8 at Scott County this summer with the the same team plus phares... Logan beat Lex. Catholic,Henry Clay, lost a close one to Mont. co., beat Feds Creek, etc...
I know it is hard for you to imagine, that a small school in WV, could hang with a great KY, school, then you start looking at the situations, Kentucky schools have been practicing for 6 to 8 weeks, while WV, schools have been going for 12 days.
Iam sure that any time you want to put the best of KY, vs. the best of WV, you might get a little surprised. We can hang, KY, basketball is great, it really is, and overall, your state has more quality players than ours does.
More quality schools, but if you take our best and play your best, we would win some, lose probably a few more than we win. Yet we would be very resepectable.
Another thing, you do realize that no other school wanted to play Scott County...
Lastly, Paul Herbert Williamson who is a sophomore more than proved he could play at the level of some of the other palyers in these games, and Brett sorrelll can shoot with any kid in any state...
It would be nice to give a little props to the WVteam and for the guy that said pressing would hurt us. The full court press is easier to score on than Scott Co. 's half court trap, everybody that knows ball in Kentucky knows that.
We had 18 turnovers, 12 in the 1st 10 minutes of the game. Oh Iam sure that Scott Co. just backed off, and played 2-3 zone the rest of the game and let us hang with them...
I hope Scott Co. has great season.
the Fast Lane Classic was a great day with great ball, and great fun...

I appreciate your love for WV basketball, but I was at the classic, and actually helped plan some of it. Logan is not on the same level as Scott County, that was painfully obvious in the 1st half. The 2nd half SC clearly didn't put as much into their gameplan and backed off plenty. Logan refused to play Phelps at the classic, and that is mainly why they played Scott County. It had nothing to do with nobody else wanting to play them. Kentucky basketball is a world ahead of West Virginia basketball. Again, I am glad you have great love for your state, but Kentucky>West Virginia.

Miami (FL) and Ohio State play tonight.
This game is a good one to watch for a UK fan. With Miami coming to town Saturday it will be interesting to see how they handle Mullens, Turner and company.
-
Next week Pitino will probably say something along the lines of "Now this team is practicing like that 96 team I had. Samardo Samuels is the next Jamaal Mashburn, and no, Richie aint playing tonight"

Look at you, talking the talk but learning to walk to the walk.
Baby steps for now.

It's no different than an undercover cop trying to stop other illegal acts that we see on the streets.
Right, but if an undercover officer is trying to bust a drug dealer, he can't go up to him and say "Hey, I need some shrooms." The dealer has to OFFER the drugs to the officer.

Isn't it illegal for an officer to set up someone for a fall like that? That doesn't seem like an ethical thing for a person of the law to do. It's very ignorant to take that offer by the ticket taker, but it doesn't seem ethical to set someone up to fail like that.

What happens if Oklahoma loses to Missouri?? Does Texas, the South Division runner up, play the winner of the SEC title game? What if UF doesn't jump Texas and OU takes care of business? Is it a rematch of the Cotton Bowl for the BCS title game? People who argue for the BCS say that we don't need a playoff because "every game you play in the BCS is a playoff". If that's the case, then why is there all this pandemonium?? Now, arguably the biggest game of the season, the Texas-Oklahoma matchup doesn't even matter!

Kentucky wins this one handily. Patterson with a double-double in the first half, Liggins with 7 or 8 dimes, and Meeks continues his historic point scoring run with 34.
-
It's looking more and more like the Cats will be going to the Liberty Bowl this year. Tulsa or East Carolina will be the opponent, depending on the outcome of their game this coming weekend.
-
Is this the year Gonzaga makes the final four? It wouldn't shock me to see it happen. Heytveldt(sp?) can really play!
-
We will find out soon enough which loss was worse. Right now, it's just two big L's to two bad teams. If UL rebounds like UK seems to have rebounded, this loss will not mean much in the coming months.

I thought Gillispie handled this situation very well. Here is a little piece of info from Matt May with a quote from Coach.
“As far as his situation last night I’m a hard guy, I’m a hard coach, there’s no question about it but I’m a loving coach. I love competitors and I love guys that get madder than heck when they don’t get a chance to play. I think he could have handled it better because it would have meant more to his teammates if he handled it better but I don’t have a problem with a guy…I mean I’ve got a problem with a guy not going into a game, but he’s a competitor, he wanted to play, he didn’t handle it the right way but it’s taken care of and he’ll have a little extra stuff this week because of it. We weren’t going to penalize the team today and I asked them how they wanted to take care of it and they said, ‘Let’s play our regular rotation and try to win this game.’ He handled it great and it’ll be a big stepping stone for him.”

It could go either way on the suspension front. My gut tells me he is suspended, but im not so sure that he really deserves a suspension for it.
